I’ll be in Richfield, MN for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!

This year, I’ll be appearing at Hot Comics and Collectibles in Richfield, MN for Free Comic Book Day!

I’ll have some prints; I’ll have some comics for sale; I’ll be sketching! (With free head sketches for the kids) and … actually, we’ll see what else I can come up with!

I’ll be there from…. whenever I can make it into town until they decide to kick me out!

Here’s the address:

HOT COMICS & COLLECTIBLES

6609 Nicollet Ave S, Richfield, MN 55423

If you’re in the Twin Cities area, I do hope you’ll stop by to chat, get a sketch, or geek out about the Avengers movie (which I sure hope to have seen by then!)

General Update and Appearance Round-Up!

I want to say three things:

1. Loved Daredevil. What a fantastic translation of the Man Without Fear and his cast. Hope that there’s another season booked before the Defenders makes its run in a couple of years; but if not, this sure satisfied. Reckon now I just have to be patient until the next Defender show drops in December!

2. Looking forward to Ant-Man. I was already onboard, but the trailer doubled down that feeling. This is in my wheelhouse. Let’s go, Scott Lang. (And what a train sequence! Hah.)

3. These dang shows and movies make me wish I was playing with those toys! I don’t often pine to work on things not already on my plate; but these shows rev my creative engine and get me excited. I’ll just direct that to other purposes!

Ghostbusters: Get Real proceeds apace; I just turned in the first draft to issue #2. It contains a double-page spread I can’t wait for Dan Schoening and Luis Delgado to bring into the world… should be FUN. (Which is, as ever, what we aim for.)

I told Dan the other day, once Get Real ends, he, I, and Luis will have worked together on 42 Ghostbusters comics. I hope we can extend that streak, but either way I could not be more proud. #1 drops in June, folks! BE THERE!

Now, let’s talk appearances! Places where we can meet up! I will sign comics, sketch, and talk myself hoarse. (Possibly also embarrass myself — we’ll see how the day goes!)

I recently returned from Emerald City Comic Con, and it was fantastic as always. I don’t want to forget them; but it’s been two weeks and I only just now am starting to recover from all of that insanity. So many fans. SO MUCH FUN. My thanks to Jim Demonakos and the ECCC crew for having me out!

Okay, back to the future. (Heh.) This is where you can find me for the foreseeable future:

First – Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 2! I’ll be appearing at HOT COMICS AND COLLECTIBLES in Richfield, MN. Signing! Sketching! I may bring some books or prints, if I have time to dig some up. If you have any preferences, drop me a line! I bet I’ll have seen Avengers 2 by then. Come by, we’ll geek out.

Next: MSP Comic-Con! Formerly SpringCon, it’s happening at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on May 16-17. Lots of great folks will be there, and so will I! Wait… that’s not how I meant it…

Then: Down to Atlanta Georgia and MOMOCON May 28-31! My first time at the show, but from the looks of things online, I’ll be seeing a bunch of passionate, happy attendees and cosplayers. Can’t wait!

JUNE! On the 19-21, I’ll be winging to Charlotte, NC for my very first Heroes Con! I’ve heard only the best about this show and absolutely cannot wait to experience it firsthand, and meet colleagues I’d never see anywhere else. Come say hi!

June 27 will see me in Bloomington, MN at the Bloomington Armory for ComicCard! A fun little recurring one-day show with lots of comics, sports cards, and memorabilia! Drop by for a high five!

And then, the big kahuna, San Diego Comic Con! I’ll be there wandering around from the 8th – 12th (give or take!) I’m sure I’ll do a signing or something at least once… my schedule will be finalized closer to the show!

Lastly, I know I have a couple of pending store visits on deck — but the dates have yet to be nailed down. As soon as they are, I’ll shout!

Thanks for checking in — hope to see you at some point this year!

What a FANTASTIC Emerald City! Con Wrap Up

I got in on a Thursday morning. Sadly, I was still affected by the last vestige of a cold. I felt fine, mostly, but my head was stuffed up from plane travel.

It was gorgeous in Seattle; sunny, 70 degrees. I walked all over the city and took it in.

Met up with Evan “Doc” Shaner and his family; I was introduced to his three year old daughter that day as ‘Erik’ — more on that later.

In any case, I had lunch with the Shaners and caught up. Then I wandered over to the local Target, picked up some con supplies, and hit the convention center to set up.

Later that night, it was a great meal that somehow ended in Jim Beam and S’Mores. (Not the weirdest part of the weekend, I guarantee you.)

The convention was just… it blurred together. There was so much insanity. I saw so much great cosplay (and I think Agent Carter took the prize for most-seen costume!) I did a lot of sketches, talked to a lot of people, and… was late to my one panel.

I went to the right room… in the wrong building. Hustled over and got to the stage just in time to be booed for my tardiness! Oops.

Saturday night I and others went on a hunt for a speakeasy. Which we found! …They wouldn’t let us enter, though. I blame myself. (So do they.)

Which brings us to Sunday, and little Olive Shaner; she sees me, waves, grins, and shouts: “Hi, Burnham!” I did an honest-to-goodness double take. It was hilarious and unexpected, which is a perfect way to sum up my time at the show.

I had a GREAT time at ECCC.

My thanks to all of the fans who stopped by to chat, my thanks to Jim Demonakos for the invite, and my thanks to Seattle for being Seattle.

BE READY TO BELIEVE US!

gbgr1

This June, Dan Schoening, Luis Delgado, and I are all back in the world of Ghostbusters to bring you GHOSTBUSTERS: GET REAL!

This four-issue miniseries teams the movie-verse versions we’ve worked on in the ongoing series along with the versions as seen in the “Real Ghostbusters” cartoon.

How? Well, if you watch the episode “Janine Melnitz, Ghostbuster” you’ll get a handy clue!

The first issue comes out in June 2015. Dan and Luis’ cover is one of four interlocking covers, while our variant is by the awesome Erica Henderson (of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl fame!) I’ll share that one when I have the okay!

PLEASE PRE-ORDER! It’s a great way to be sure you’ll get the comic, the cover you want, and more Ghostbusters comics from us! (Which I hope you want as much as we do!)

The Diamond Pre-order code for Get Real #1 is: APR150362

(The code to get Erica’s cover is APR150363)

Talk about it on Twitter! #GhostbustersGetReal

WE’RE BACK!

EMERALD CITY COMIC CON 2015! — I’ll be there, folks!

I’ve said as much before, but now I have more specific information! I will be at ECCC in Seattle for the whole weekend; you can find me at table H-08!

I’ll have several books with me; copies of the oversizedSecret History of the Foot Clan hardcover that I did with Mateus Santolouco — the one that features my script and his uncolored/unlettered pages as well as the standard version!

I’ll also have some signed 4-packs of the TMNT/Ghostbusters crossover, and whatever trades I can find.

I will also be doing sketches (keeping myself loose as I’ll be doing artwork on a couple of projects this year — I’m super excited about those!) They’ll be on 9×12 bristol, between $20 and $40.

Along with the sketches, I’ll be experimenting with a game for all those who purchase sketches: everyone who does gets to roll a die. Roll a 2, get 20% off the sketch (10% for 1, 50% for 5 and so on…) and a 6 gets a freebie 8×5 head sketch. Total experiment — it may blow up in my face! We’ll see how it plays out.

Want a map to my table? Say no more, here one is!

ecmap

I do have a schedule — you can also definitely find me at the following places:

THE REST OF THE TIME

90% of the time I will be at my table, H-08!

COME SAY HELLO! Discuss Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nick Landime or anything else I’ve ever worked on!

Look forward to seeing you all in Seattle!!

Birthday Post-Game

So, yesterday (02/26) was my birthday.

Often, I have some kind of bad luck on my birthday (this year too, but it was minor.) More often, though, I get to pause and reflect.

I had a great day, doing what I love (writing and drawing. And eating. And, um, I also took a nap.)

I had friends and family pouring out of the woodwork to wish me the best – on twitter, on Facebook, via Text, and in person. In fact, when I first looked at my phone, there were SO MANY notifications, I wondered if I’d missed some kind of tragedy on the news. (Sure, there were some escaped llamas and some bit about a dress’ color, but that was later in the day.)

It was nice. I got a free coffee down at one of the local coffee shops and got in a chunk of writing.

Did I make a birthday wish? I did! And the funny thing was… it wasn’t for a lottery win, or anything like that.

It was to get to do a couple more projects I’ve had my eye on.

My birthday wish… was to keep doing what I’m doing. I love my work. I love writing and drawing and having all this fun.

My birthday wish is already true.

So thanks for that, everyone!

Now go have a fantastic weekend!

-E

02/25/15: Galaxy Quest #2 is out today!

gq2cover

We made it through port congestion this time! Join the cast of Galaxy Quest as they discover for themselves what their use of the Omega 13 meant to the people of another world.

New ship, new mission, and a plan by Guy to stay behind goes into full effect (that’s one of my two favorite lines in the issue!)

With art by Nacho Arranz and Esther Sanz, pick it up at your choice of comic shop or digitally via Comixology!

New Project: Ghostbusters Board Game Back Story!

pix

So there’s some big news — Dan and I will be working up a backstory for the Ghostbusters board game by Cryptozoic!

I’ll be writing up a short story of a couple thousand words, and Dan’s gonna be doing up some illos for it — and it’ll be front and center in the rulebook for all copies of the game!

We’re gonna have a lot of fun with it.

More information on this at this link:

If You Haven’t Seen It… GHOSTBUSTERS: THE BOARD GAME

I know I’ve talked about it on Twitter, but *just* realized I never mentioned it here!

Cryptozoic Entertainment is running a kickstarter right now for a board game (maps, miniatures, the whole nine yards) based on GHOSTBUSTERS.

First, that’s awesome. Second, the art for the game is provided by my partners-in-crime from the GB comic series, Dan Schoening and Luis Antonio Delgado!

AND! One of the bosses is Idulnas, the first villain we all created in our first arc on the book! SWEET!

Now, this game is funded, so it IS happening. But you want to jump in NOW. A lot of cool stuff — miniatures/playable characters/scenarios including Janine Melnitz; Samhain; the Grey Lady; Zuul, Vinz Clortho, & Gozer are all Kickstarter EXCLUSIVE. If you wait for retail, you don’t get a lot of the cool stuff. (Surely there will be future cool stuff, but just not THIS cool stuff.)

If you’re a casual gamer, that might not matter. But if you’re hardcore into games or Ghostbusters and want those extras… guys & gals, get in  on this! You have until March 11!

(Actually March 12, but let’s give ourselves a buffer, eh?)

All you need do is go here:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cze/ghostbusters-the-board-game

And happy gaming!!
