As the writers’ strike drags on and my pitching has been put on hold, I have shifted focus elsewhere – namely, comics books and film. Two weeks ago, I delivered the penultimate script for my first comic book series since Dark Matter, a horror tale in the vein of Ringo and Final Destination. Today, I receive the go-ahead to start work on the fifth and final issue. It’s been a lot of fun and I can’t wait to hear what you think when the time comes.
Meanwhile, that horror film is still front and center. The budget is more or less set. Tomorrow, Ivon and I have a 9:00 a.m. zoom with Team Bulgaria to discuss. And I await input from my lawyer on the business plan. Hoping to have a package for investors by end of next week. And after that, it’ll be smooooooooooth sailing!
Oh, hey, speaking of horror – check out this monstrosity…

Apparently a controversial take…
It isn't hard to write a movie that makes sense. If you can't do it, you're either incompetent or you hold your audience in such contempt that you figure they're too stupid to notice.

July 7, 2023: Farewell schnitzel, a possible change of scenery, and sundry points of interest!
Behold, the Wooden Platter!
One final hurrah as my favorite schnitzel place, Country Style Hungarian, closes its doors after 62 years. A bittersweet – but utterly delicious – final meal that has hosted the likes of schnitzel-appreciating celebrities like Carl Binder, Alexander Ruemelin, and Ivon Bartok.
If the email opens with a specific compliment about the pilot you submitted (ie "I love the world you created" or "so-and-so is a terrific character"), they're passing.

On the bright side, they are responding to a pilot that was optioned two days after I sent it out, a cozy mystery picked up by a very enthusiastic producer of similar fare. This comes on the heels of some conversations about a few other projects in addition to ongoing strategic planning of that high concept low budget horror comedy. As crazy as it sounds, if one of these goes, 2024 may find me shooting in either:
Bulgaria
England
Ireland
Portugal
I look forward to any and all changes of scenery.
Speaking of cozy mysteries…
