We’re All Afraid of Something

Hey kitties! I wrote the following guest post for my author pal, S. Usher Evans’ Slay Your Fears blog series for her new release Empath. You can read it and other awesome posts about overcoming fear over on her blog! We’re All Afraid of Something I don’t know when it started. The racing heart at the mere glimpse of it across a screen. The hurried rush past the door when they would visit the school. The inescapable nightmares. I wasn’t always this way…it just sort of happened. What am I talking about? Does it really matter? Because without even realizing it your subconscious just filled in the blanks with your own fears in the sentences above. It’s one of the unavoidable truths of life—we all fear something. Even if we like to pretend we don’t.

Empath Release

Hey kitties! I’ve got a new release to feature today, this time for my author pal S. Usher Evans. So here’s a bit about the book, the pretty cover! Empath Lauren Dailey is in break-up hell. Stuck between moving on and letting go, she puts on a brave face while crying herself to sleep at night. But when a mysterious voice promises escape from her sadness, she is suddenly transported to a new world. And in this place, the slightest touch pulls her out of her tortured emotions into the mind of another – an empath. The villagers – sweet Aerona and her mischievous twins, wise Siors, and hunky Cefin – welcome her and the blessings her empath powers bring. But this world is not without its dangers. The Anghenfil, a fire-breathing monster, has haunted the village for decades, and has a taste for empaths. And that mysterious voice promising escape from sadness? It’s sounding more like a whisper tinged with smoke and embers. Can Lauren keep the monsters in the mountain and in her head at bay? Or will she succumb to the darkness like the empath before her…

Fiction Unboxed Review

Hey kitties! I’ve got a book review to feature today, this time for the awesome peeps over at the Self-Publishing Podcast! Fiction Unboxed, A Unique and Raw Look behind the Curtain of Story Construction. Exceptionally informative and wildly entertaining, Johnny B. Truant’s unique style of non fiction inspires me to go out and make things. I have an entire bookcase of “How To” books and aside from out-of-print manga on making manga not one of them shows you how to actually construct a story from beginning to end in such actionable steps. And so I applaud him and the other members of the SPP team for demystifying the process of constructing a narrative and making it an enjoyable read at the same time!
