Chuck Palahniuk On Writing

Chuck Palahniukon writing: “It seems that so much writing is being done in the nineteenth-century model, where every connection has to be thoroughly explained. But in minimalism you just put one detail next to another detail and you allow the reader to decide what the relationship is.”

Scenes from the Cemetery Dance office: Sasha the German Shorthaired Pointer Gets Stuck In Her Cone of Shame

As many of you know, we love our pets at Cemetery Dance and we’re really lucky to have a dog friendly office. In fact, there are currently fourdogs within a few feet of my desk. It was a lot of fun to put this one together since we’ve never published a Special Issue focused on an artist before and Glenn is one of our favorite people in the business. He’s a talented artist...

Scenes from the Cemetery Dance office: Scanning The Stand Hardcover

We needed to scan the cover of The Standby Stephen King (“The Complete and Uncut Edition” that Doubleday published in 1990) for an article in Cemetery Dance #69, which is due out early next year, but the book was just a little bigger than the scanner was designed to handle:

Scenes from the Cemetery Dance office: Comparing Hot Foil Stamping Options

Although the differences are difficult to discern in a photo, these three traycase stamping samples were made with different foils so we could see how they would look on the final product (a Lettered Edition that we’ll be publishing in early 2013):

Another positive review for The Painted Darkness

Josef Hernandez, Minneapolis Books Examiner, posted a new review forThe Painted Darknessover the weekend. Here is just a little sample of the glowing review:

Brian James Freeman (who has previously published without his middle name) handles the story with a deftness that shows his talent. The reader is transported from the past to the present seamlessly as Freeman steers the story toward an understanding of the monstersthat lurk in our world. Everyone is afraid of monsters and the things that...

FEARnet Reviews The Painted Darkness Audiobook

The first review for theThe Painted Darknessunabridged audiobook has arrived and it’s from one of the biggest horror websites around: FEARnet.com. Here is just a little sample of the glowing review:

Brian James Freeman’s fascinating novella,The Painted Darkness, is one of those rare gems you sometimes find in fiction that manage to effortlessly capture the strangeness of being young…The Painted Darknessconcerns itself with classic themes: letting go of childhood, the power with which we wield...
