Birthday Bash Contest

Tomorrow is my birthday (I’ll have another post with more details about that) but today, I thought I’d start posting. Primarily because I started celebrating about two weeks ago, and the celebration will culminate in a 4-day trip to Boston next weekend (more details about that later… assuming I don’t make an ass out of myself). Early is okay :)

Anyway, as I stare down the barrel of this particular birthday, I’m hoping you’ll celebrate with me. Yes, I’m bribing you. If you comment on this post or one of the two I’ll have tomorrow, I’ll enter you in a draw to win a $40 gift certificate from All Romance eBooks. I’ll announce the winner… Monday, I think. So you’ll have all weekend to pop in and comment.

New Contract, New Website and a Fight to the Death

Whew. Combining lots of news! Yes, I have a new contract. The only 3K words I’ve managed to output in the past two months (the bad back and other health issues have really taken a toll) coalesced into a submission for Torquere’s 50 Gays of Shade anthology call, edited by Kiernan Kelly. I guess you can figure out my little story was accepted. I’ve never written BDSM before (the story did end up being BDSM-lite), and it’s pretty much a 3K word sex scene, but it was fun, and a good exercise for me. I’m not comfortable writing that short, so I’m very pleased I made the cut.

New Website: I admit, it’s a bit of an exaggeration. But I did change the theme, the navigation and who I structured my book pages. Poke around a bit! The hardest part, though, was that I was creating a little Easter egg for my upcoming release. There will be a few more hints about that later :)

A Fight to the Death: Finally, I’m at Contact Infinite Futures today, pitting two sci-fi heroes together in a cage match. Stop by and let me know who you’d think would win!

GRL Is Coming!

Well, I’ve been terribly remiss about posting, haven’t I? There’s good reason I assure you, but unfortunately, those same reasons have absolutely destroyed my writing schedule. I’m getting back in there, but right now, I have to focus in preparing for GayRomLit, which I’ll be attending next month! With that in mind, I’m over at SJD Peterson’s blog today, talking about some of my experiences from last year. Come on over & visit me! (and if this is post is littered with typos, well, blame it on the phone!)

My First Translation!

Lookee, lookee! Cop Out, or rather Dentro o fuori, is coming in Italian from Dreamspinner Press on September 4! I never imagined any of my work getting translated and I’m just thrilled. I can’t wait to… well… not read it, because I don’t know Italian and I’m terrible with languages, but I know those words intimately. I can’t wait to see them in another language.  Also, I’m thrilled that my back has improved enough for me to sit in front of my laptop to type this blog post, but that’s another story :)

Yum – pretty cover art!

I’ve got cover art for my upcoming release from Loose Id, MIA Case Files: Craving!  It’s just awesome, and April Martinez did a fantastic job matching the look and feel of my other MIA covers.

Release date should be sometime this fall, and I’ve copied the current blurb below, although I don’t have an official one yet.  Let me tell you, I love Oliver and I loved finally telling his story.  Brandon was a whole lot of fun, too :)

On a mission tracking down werewolves, a mishap disables Agent Brandon Ellison, rendering him unfit for field duty.  Unable to deal with the repercussions of the accident, Brandon moves away and Oliver Cardoso not only loses his partner, but his lover.  Years later, when Brandon returns as head of MIA’s Research and Development team, the hurt, guilt and blame fester into jealousy and professional rivalry, making working together almost impossible.

When an equipment failure almost kills Oliver, it appears as though Brandon’s executing some sort of revenge.  Determined to find out the truth, Brandon invites himself along on his first mission in years, with Oliver and his new partner.  With an elusive portal and the Umbrae creating a previously unknown creature, hundreds of lives, including Oliver’s, are at stake.  Although their attraction hasn’t waned in the intervening years, putting aside their differences creates a potentially fatal distraction and falling in love again might destroy them both.

I’m at Flirty Author Bitches today talking about treasure maps – why I love them and why I think very few of them exist.  Stop by if you can!

A Question of Zombies

I’m at Contact Infinite Futures today wondering if I can get away with writing a zombie story that wouldn’t see the light of day before this time next year, at best, since zombies seem to be trending right now. Any opinions? Stop by & let me know!

Dreaming in Color and Plots

I’m at the Loose Ends blog today talking about dreams as inspiration for books.  I didn’t mention it there, but Jathan and Kaz’s first meeting in Spice ‘n’ Solace was a dream… and a pretty hot dream it was :)  Stop by if you have a chance and let me know if you use dreams for inspiration.

Cover Up – New Contract with Dreamspinner!

As some of you may have seen on FB and Twitter, I’ve got a contract with Dreamspinner Press for the sequel to Cop Out, called Cover Up (although I suppose that could change).  This is Ivan’s story (and those of you who were hoping for Kurt’s brother, Ian, I’ll be working on his story soon).  I’d actually started writing Ivan’s story before Cop Out, but Kurt and Davy were pretty damn insistent & wanted to go first. Tentative dates are end of 2012/early 2013.

Cover Up – tentative blurb:

Detective Ivan Bekker is at his lowest point.  Recovering from a bad break up with a cheating boyfriend, he’s involved in a drug bust gone bad where he kills his first man and his friend ends up shot, fighting for his life.  He’s under investigation for his part in the shooting and he has to attend therapy sessions.  It’s exactly the wrong time for his boss to insist he go undercover on an off-the-books operation, but the timing is critical and it may be a chance to plug a leak in the department.

Off balance and without back up, Ivan finds himself playing the part of Parker Wakefield’s recently divorced roommate, an identity so much more pleasant than his real life.  He finds it hard to believe the sweet Parker could possibly be a criminal, much less have ties to a Russian mafia drug trafficking operation, and develops an unprofessional affection for his roommate.  The temptation of Parker is too much to resist, because Ivan feels whole and real and sane when he’s with Parker. When Ivan is confronted with clear evidence of Parker’s criminal involvement, will he allow their relationship to sway him, regardless of the consequences, or will he arrest the man he’s falling for?

MIA Case Files: Craving – New Contract from Loose Id!

I’ve announced this on Twitter & FB, but now that I’ve got the contract in my hot little hands, I’m posting the news here, too.  This is Oliver’s story, and the tentative blurb is below.  I’m so thrilled, I just love Oliver :)   It may even be a fall release… fingers crossed!

MIA Case Files: Craving (tentative blurb):

On a mission tracking down werewolves, a mishap disables Agent Brandon Ellison, rendering him unfit for field duty.  Unable to deal with the repercussions of the accident, Brandon moves away and Oliver Cardoso not only loses his partner, but his lover.  Years later, when Brandon returns as head of MIA’s Research and Development team, the hurt, guilt and blame fester into jealousy and professional rivalry, making working together almost impossible.
