Friday Fun - Are you a fan of the glorious torture?
So after finishing yet another truly terrific book last night (more on next week's Wednesday review), I realized just how much I love the glorious torture that is the wait for a follow up novel in a series.
Yes, I said it. My name is Kristi, I'm a book lover and a self-admitted addict.
I've always been drawn to books in a series (Stephen King's Gunslinger, Rowling's Harry Potter, Meyer's Twilight) but today I had a funny realization that I actually love them MORE than stand alone books. Not...

The Wednesday Review and other ramblings
Good news! I almost feel like a real live person today and not death! *happy dance*
Thanks to you all for your great comments and sympathy! :-)
The fact that I can look at my computer screen without my head feeling like it's about to explode is definitely progress! I'd like to start a petition against summer colds...it seems very unnatural and unfair. Who's with me????
Okay, okay, on to more fun things and less whining. Today's book review!

Down and out
My drink of choice this weekend?
And I'm going back for another shot tonight. Time for bed...again!
And yes, for the record, this is me whining. I knew when the men in my house were down and out last week it was only a matter of time before the cold struck me, but did it really have to wait for the weekend?
On the plus side (because even now the optimistic has to come out ) - I've gotten quite a bit of reading done so look for another review this Wednesday. It's fun to see how many pages I...

The Wednesday Review
I just finished Gail Carriger's 2nd book in the Alexia Tarabotti series, Changeless and LOVED it!
The Goodreads Description:Alexia Tarabotti, now Lady Maccon, awakens in the wee hours of the mid-afternoon to find her husband, who should be decently asleep like any normal werewolf, yelling at the top of his lungs. Then he disappears -- leaving her to deal with a regiment of supernatural soldiers encamped on her doorstep, a plethora of exorcised ghosts, and an angry Queen Victoria.
But Alexia...

The Last Chapter
Thanks to everyone for all the great graduation wishes! My little sister Ashley is now officially graduated and we're all so very proud of her! She made a gorgeous graduate! (see updated photo on my last post)
It was hard not to think back (hmmm...quite a ways back) to my own high school graduation and that feeling of overwhelmingness that we all seem to have at that age. It seems like the end to an era and the beginning of another, and well, it is. It's the Last Chapter of one part of li...

revise, revise, revise, edit, edit, edit
First off, how was everyone's holiday weekend???
Mine was actually fan-tabulous. I was amazingly motivated and had an internet-unplug weekend. We spent Friday re-doing our front flowerbed (thanks for the motivation Kim!)...we replaced three plants I didn't like when I moved in (looked more like pretty weeds than actual shrubs) and took out all the pine-straw and replaced it with mulch. Talk about a chore!!!
Saturday was spent with family playing tennis and cooking out...and guess what???...

Free books are more fun
Ok, well, that $25 gift certificate I won this week lasted less than 24 hours. I'm in serious book withdrawal. There's something about reading a few good books in a row that really draws you in and makes you crave reading and that special thing that seems to take place when you are whisked away by someone else's words and imagination.
Much like a drug, I'm addicted and feeling lost without a good book in waiting. Sure, I have a few laying around, but nothing really calling to me. So, wha...

The Wednesday Review
First off - sorry for my week long absence from the blog...thing have been busy and my internet has been acting up! Boo! And doesn't it seem much longer than a week?
The good news is that during my unwilling unplug I have managed to read a few books I have yet to review, so there is (as always) a silver lining! :-)
I've been on quite a roll with my reading choices lately so without further ado, here they are:

Tuesday Inspiration!
So we all know by now about my addictive music personality, right? Right.
It's beyond time for me to share with you all my latest obsession. Yes, obsession. I've been listening to this album for the last three weeks straight and I'm still not tired of it. It's THAT GOOD. I bought the album after a performance on American Idol a few weeks ago. But, before I tell you who it is, let me tell you about the relationship I've had with this band BEFORE buying the CD.
