101 HORROR BOOKS TO READ BEFORE YOU'RE MURDERED - BOOK REC' & AUTHOR FEATURE.

It does to me and I'm flattered to have connected to such a knowledgeable reader so strongly, and to have been included in this impressive encyclopaedia of contemporary horror fiction. Among a myriad books and authors, there's a feature on my hideous contribution to the genre.

My copy of 101 HORROR BOOKS TO READ BEFORE YOU'RE MURDERED finally arrived amidst the chaos of moving house and business premises. But a most welcome addition to my horror library this is. A well curated desk-guide to modern horror fiction, written and ingeniously structured and indexed by Sadie "Mother Horror" Hartmann. It's also sumptuously and beautifully designed by Rosie Stewart and illustrated by Marco Fontanili. Well done Page Street Publishing.

I've read roughly half of the books featured in 101' but plan to read the other half over the next couple of years. With so many books being published, it can be bewildering and hard to keep track of those that appeal, and hard to process what's going on in the field of horror, what's emerging, or coming back, or new, or essential. So, I love well thought out compendiums from those with the requisite knowledge, reading and expertise in a subject. Or, someone who can be trusted.

Essential reading for those keen on contemporary horror.

THE RED ABIDES! NEW METAL BAND. 'FOREVER': THE FEROCIOUS DEBUT ALBUM DROPS.

The phrase "the Red Abides" I conjured for a ritual performed by a cannibal cult, that survived in South Devon from prehistoric times  (The Reddening). Well, it appears, that the mantra truly does abide. Here's proof.

And as a lifelong metal fan, imagine my surprise and delight when a metal band chose to name themselves after something in one of my books. But, they're not just any band; they're a damn good one.

Here's a heads up on my new book -  All the Fiends of Hell . My 12th horror novel. The publication date is some way off - April 2nd 2024 - but the ebook can be preordered from Amazon today.

All editions are published by my own press, Ritual Limited, as per my last six books, making this the seventh Ritual Limited title.The cover artwork has again been created by the superb Samuel Araya.Something different coming at you this time too. After three folk horror novels, I am climbing out of the bog, wicker effigy and hedgerow and have written a novel of alien horror. And here's the synopsis:

The red night of bells heralds global catastrophe. Annihilation on a biblical scale.

Seeing the morning is no blessing. The handful of scattered survivors are confronted by blood-red skies and an infestation of predatory horrors that never originated on earth. An occupying force intent on erasing the remnants of animal life from the planet.

But only into horrifying revelations and greater peril, where a transformed world and expanding race of ravening creatures await. Driven to the end of the country and himself, he must overcome alien and human malevolence and act in ways that were unthinkable mere days before.

All The Fiends of Hell is a novel of alien horror from the four times winner of the August Derleth Award for Best Horror Novel.

FYI - The limited edition hardback is also showing as available for pre-order at Amazon, but don't order that edition from anywhere but my website. All 600 copies will only be available from my webstore. I've asked AMZ to remove the hardback listing to no avail. Soon after a record is created at the biblio site, Nielsen, it appears on Amazon. Doesn't seem to be much I can do about that. The same problem used to occur with Book Depository. But any books preordered from Amazon won't be fulfilled. The limited edition is the only edition we fulfill from here, and we stock, pack and ship the entire inventory.
