Why have B&N let us down?
Here are all the wonderful books that make up
Ten Brides for Ten Heroes!!
When you see all ten full-length books spread out like this, it makes much more of an impact. At least it does for me. Ten authors wrote these individual stories, worked hard to entertain the readers and by joining them together, made a wonderful presentation, keeping the price at $.99. Why then has it sold so terribly on Barnes & Noble? Our numbers have been great on Amazon. We just can’t seem to get the same lift there. If any of you have an answer, please do comment. It’s a mystifying situation for all of us involved. And I'd love to know what you know... or think???Ten Brides Distributors AMAZON APPLE KOBO SMASHWORDS BARNES & NOBLE

Partners who don't trust each other...When attractive Las Vegas detective Aurora Morelli makes a friend, she takes the relationship very seriously…and if anyone hurts that person, they’re going down! While Aurora may be slim and dainty on the outside, she has the heart of a lion, and when angry, the manners of a she-cat. The sick schmuck who dared attack her partner is now her prime target. Nothing or no one will stand in her way—except maybe her new partner who arrives in town seeking vengeance on the same culprit. Kai Lawson, a young Bruce Willis lookalike, has his sights on the same rapist that his attractive new partner is determined to catch. Only his plans do not include capture. The devil raped his sister and only death will satisfy Kai’s lust for revenge. Excerpt: Her new partner was a man.Not just any man. He was the type she used to fall for in her younger years. The cocky dude who knew he was prime. Sexy as all get out, Mr. Hotshot who’d been spoiled by the ladies and loved the attention. Before she could react, Cory appeared in the doorway wearing the look of a boss who wasn’t about to put up with any of her shit. As her mouth opened, his hand went up.“Not a word, Aurora.”Her mouth refused to close. Her finger pointed at the sloucher who sat watching this interaction wearing a cheeky grin below his flashy blue eyes. “No way!”“Not open for discussion. You both have good reasons to want Rhondo as much as I do, and I figure working together, sharing your files, you’ll get him. That’s all I care about.”She’d never heard Cory use that tone with her before. Filtering the facts through her head faster than most, she knew at once that she didn’t have a hope in hell of losing this purse-carrying cowboy. Before the words ‘then I quit!’ could be uttered, Ham burst in, an unusual excitement billowing around him like an aura of static electricity.“Hey boss, just got a call. A couple of rookies are shooting it out with a guy who sure sounds like Rhondo and a few of his friends. The young cops flagged his driver for speeding, and instead of pulling over the schmuck took off. They gave chase and ended up in the same con as before. They’re pinned down, trapped in that bloody underground lot.”Before he’d finished, Aurora had her gun in the holster and her jacket halfway on. Twisted, it gave her trouble until she felt someone undo the sleeve and help her into it. “Thanks.” Grudgingly she remembered her manners.“Hey, what are partners for?” He waved her to go first and took up the rear.Cory unblocked the doorway. “I’m stuck here. Have a meeting with the mayor.” Frustration sounded in his voice. “You two go and get that son-of-a-bitch and play nice with each other. You hear?”“Yes, boss!” In unison the words had more oomph, and as she passed Ham, Aurora caught the silly smirk he didn’t bother to hide.“Quit grinning like an idiot and grab some of the others. That bastard’s not getting away this time. Not if I can help it.”“Yes, ma’am.” FREE HERE: Amazon Kobo Barnes & Noble Apple Smashwords

#TenBrides need help - Reaching for the stars!!
As most of you know by now I’ve been a part of the Ten Brides for Ten Heroes book collection and the experience has been mind-blowing. For me, I’ve put most of my other work on hold and tried to focus on the needs of this set. First I had to write Love Me Tender so I could be a part of the collection. And then I wanted to do my share and so I took on much of the promotional needs for Ten Brides.
Being an Indie author, I’ve always understood that our books need to be advertised in order to get into the hands of many. Expecting that with ten of us pushing this would be easier was a fallacy. It wasn’t. In fact, I’d say it was harder because we had such huge hopes for the book to get into the top ranking. And that wasn’t just on Amazon but with all the distributors.
We did put the book on pre-order but I don’t believe it was there long enough. We did get a few reviews from people who had read our individual books, so they could honestly mention their enjoyment for a specific writer but there weren’t enough of those either. I guess you could say we did most of the things we needed to do, but maybe too little too late. In retrospect, we might have done things differently.
On the other hand, there are more and more people jumping onto the idea of joining forces and putting together books in a collection and soon the competition will be fierce. One thing I do know is that you need to be open to any and every opportunity to get that book into the hands of the readers.
So far we’ve used:
Book Sends, Kindle Books & Tips, EBook Booster, Bargain Booksey, Goddess Fish Book Tour, Digital Books Today, EReader Buddy, Midlist, Best Books Free, OHFBooks, Ereader News
And we’ve published a free cookbook which we hoped would spread the word and help us to get found. I think it’s been successful. We also hosted a Facebook event that was - for me – too long as we kept it going for a week and took a lot out of all of us. None of us had a huge following on FB and so I’m not sure it was worth the time and effort. Best thing about it was the new friends we made and the fun we had.
In order for us to reach the stars (our goal) the lists, we still have other promotions we will be focusing on to try and push the book that much further So far, we’ve been able to get the ranking to under a 100 and that’s been soooo difficult.
Do we need to go higher?
You betcha!! We need to get to the top ten….. gulp!!
Therefore, please pass on the word to all your friends that there’s a free cookbook that goes along with this wonderful collection from New York Times and USA Today best-selling authors. The price is phenomenal! We’re selling ten, full-length books for 99 cents. You should all treat yourself! Because the books are about brides and weddings, it’s also a great gift for those of your friends who love romance. Don’t believe me– check out the latest reviews that are now coming in from the happy readers who bought us so far.

From chemistry in the lab to chemistry between people. By @MonaRisks
I'm delighted to welcome another of the "Ten Brides for Ten Heroes" authors to my blog today. Her name is Mona Risk and she is a wonderful writer with many titles to her credit that you can find here on Amazon . We were also collaborators with the Free Partay events and so some of you might recognize her name.
To be honest, I never thought that hazardous waste analysis would lead me to write novels, but with a father who was a professor in literature and published author, I grew up surrounded by books. When my Ph.D. and work in chemistry landed me contracts to refurbish laboratories in foreign countries, I traveled to more than fifty countries. To relax from my hectic schedule, I avidly read romance and mentally plotted my own novels. Eventually, I left a scientific career to share with readers the many stories brewing in my head.
The Holiday Babies Series is the story of the Ramsay family who lives in the heart of Kentucky and vacations in Florida. A family with values and a strong sense of unity that comprises five daughters and their partners, and numerous babies who create chaos and bring smiles.
I thought that my boxed set Holiday Babies would consist of three novels: the stories of the two oldest Ramsay sisters, Madelyn and Roxanne, and that of their mother, Barbara.
But when many readers emailed me asking when the two youngest Ramsay sisters, Claire and Tiffany, and their stepsister, Monica, would find their Happy Ever After, I felt compelled to write Claire’s story.
WEDDING SURPRISE (Holiday Babies Series II) is my contribution to the TEN BRIDES FOR TEN HEROES boxed set.
Claire and her boyfriend, David, loved each other since she was in high school, but they faced many challenges over the years, and there were times when she thought she would lose him. Finally, Claire's dream of a wonderful white wedding to the man she adores is about to come true.
Then Adriana, the high-school classmate who’s tried to snatch David several times, makes an announcement that threatens to destroy the couple's happiness. A new challenge, just two weeks before their big day.
David’s heart is pulled in different directions and Claire has to rely on her love to understand and help her fiancé turn the worst possible news into the best wedding surprise.

Her books have garnered Top Picks, Outstanding Read, Sweetheart of the Week and Best Book of the Week at various reviewers, received two mentions in Publisher’s Weekly, and won several awards, from Best Contemporary Romance of the Year at READERS FAVORITE with two Gold Medals, to EPPIE award finalist and Best Romance Novel of the Year at Preditors & Editors Readers Poll.

What’s a REAL Book? By Donna Fasano - @DonnaFas
***I'm so excited to introduce you to USA Today, Best-selling author, Donna Fasano - a girl after my own heart - a collaborator on the Ten Brides for Ten Heroes Box Collection and a writer who has a fabulous sense of humor.
I can’t tell you how many times over the course of my 20-plus year career as a published romance author I have been asked, “When are you going to write a realbook? You know, a [insert genre of choice: mystery, historical, thriller, etc].” So I’d like to take this opportunity to tell readers why I write romance novels.
I suffered a lot of tragedy while I was growing up, the worst of which was the death of my mother just as I was entering my teens. I felt as though I went from 13 to 35 overnight, and when my friends were off having fun, I was cooking and cleaning and helping my little brother with his homework. Romance novels were an escape for me. The Wolf and the Dove, The Far Pavilions, Whitney My Love, Rebecca, The Thorne Birds…if the book featured one man and one woman falling in love, I read it! Romance novels offered me hope for a happy future filled with love (hokey, maybe, but I was a naïve teen). As a young wife and mother, I discovered Silhouette Romance Novels. These books were short and sweet and uplifting. Each and every story put a smile on my face, and the happily-ever-after endings always boosted my spirits. Are romance novels real? No. Does every real-life relationship end in HEA? Of course not. But if I wanted doom and gloom, I’d watch the evening news.
As an author, I can’t think of a better way to use my talent than to bring pure enjoyment to my readers. I tell people that I write cotton candy for the mind. Think about that. When you were a kid and you put a small cloud of that wispy confection on your tongue, what did you do? You smiled. And maybe you even laughed. That’s the reaction I’m going for with my upbeat stories. That’s why I write romance novels.
My contribution to the Ten Brides for Ten Heroes bundle is Return of the Runaway Bride. The story came to life after I shared an elevator ride with a young woman who was carrying a newly purchased bridal gown. She looked extremely anxious as her mother, also in the elevator with us, was prattling on about the wedding plans. Suddenly, the young woman’s face went white and she said to her mother, “I don’t think I can do this.” Those seven little words had a profound effect on me. I began to wonder just how close could a wedding date get before a doubtful bride had to take action. The bride in my book runs away, but she returns to town to face her family, friends—and the man she jilted. For romance readers, who already understand that the book will end happily, all the fun is found in the journey.

A Writer Stays True to Type - by Rebecca York!!
***I'm so pleased to introduce Rebecca York as my guest today. She's a wonderful author who will be receiving a special award at the RWA convention this year for having published 75 books with Harlequin. And, in truth, must have over 100 in total. Truly a gifted and unique woman whose stories entertain and delight us all!!
I’ve been writing romances all my life, only I didn’t know it at first. Actually, I didn’t start off writing anything down because I’m dyslexic, and I had a lot of trouble learning to read. But I’ve always told stories. My mom told me that when I could barely toddle around, I’d go from hydrangea bush to hydrangea bush in my grandma’s backyard, cupping the flowers and giving them fanciful names. And when I saw a worm burrowing into the earth in my aunt’s garden, I said, “Where the merm went?” I immediately answered my own question. “The merm went to see another merm.”
See—relationships already!
By the time I was ten, I was telling romantic-suspense stories, using my Sandra Sue dolls. These were the precursors to Barbie. They were little action-figure girls, without the breasts and the elongated bodies. I’d make up adventures for them where they were captured by pirates, whisked away to a mountain cabin, or spirited onto a luxury yacht by a handsome millionaire.
The story I’ve written for Ten Brides for Ten Heroes, DESTINATION WEDDING, fits right into that tradition, only it’s not the hero who kidnaps the heroine. It’s a rich-as-sin Russian mobster who owns his own Caribbean island. He takes Camille Norland there to marry her against her will, and it’s up to our hero, Nick Cassidy, to rescue her. But first he has to figure out who has taken her and where she’s being held. Then he’s got to sneak onto the island and wait for his chance to grab her. He can’t do it before the marriage ceremony. But can he wrest Camille away before the wedding night? And can the two of them escape from the island without getting shot?
Camille and Nick have set off sexual sparks since they first met. But because Nick works for her father, he thinks a relationship isn’t appropriate. Also, Nick’s from a poor, dysfunctional family, and he thinks he’s not good enough for Camille. While they’re hiding out from the mobster, can she make him realize that the two of them belong together?
Since I always write stories with a HEA, you can probably guess the answer.
Rebecca York is the author of more than 125 novels and novellas. She is a multi-published romance, romantic suspense, and paranormal romantic suspense writer, with Silhouette, Harlequin Intrigue, Berkley and Sourcebooks—and occasional excursions into science-fiction romance, YA, and cookbook writing. She’s now a hybrid writer, continuing her traditional career while indie-publishing paranormal romantic suspense, science-fiction romance and cookbooks. She lives in Maryland with her husband and four cats, travels frequently, and cooks and gardens for fun. For more about her, see
www.rebeccayork.com
. ~~~Also, I want to personally thank Rebecca for all her work in collating and producing the attractive cookbook that was made for the Ten Brides for Ten Heroes box set. First she suggested this as a way of promoting the collection and then she made sure it happened.

WEDDING FEVER! An appropriate title for a book in a collection about weddings - 10 full-length books ONLY #99cents
*** A second chance....
I was twenty-nine when I married the man of my dreams. He was tall, handsome, and already in a successful career that took us around the world and back. We had a simple, small wedding with only 40 guests. It was held outdoors on a lawn in front of a beautiful mansion that had turned into a restaurant on the oceanfront in Vancouver, Canada. I wore a pretty white mid-calf dress and the groom wore a dark suit. Although our wedding was uneventful, our marriage certainly was not.Due to my husband’s career we moved to Australia with our small children for six years, then we relocated to England for another three. It was a glamorous time and being married to a senior executive had its perks. I’ve traveled on the Concorde, the Orient Express, been on safaris and a trip down the Nile.
And yet, like every good novel, our marriage had conflict and a black moment that culminated in a divorce. The story does not end there—like every great romance, there must be a happy ending, and I found mine.
I moved to West Palm Beach in Florida on my own, and three years later I met a wonderful man, recently widowed. He is my true Prince in this real-life fairy-tale-- a handsome, kind, gentle man that is loved by all.
My tagline is “It’s never too late for romance” and trust me, I’m living proof!AUTHOR BIO

#tenbrides - Helen Scott Taylor writes about - Her Spooky Wedding
***Please meet Helen Scott Taylor, a friend from the partay group and a wonderful writer whose work I've always enjoyed. She's one of the authors in our collection called Ten Brides for Ten Heroes. Her selection is called The Army Doctor's Wedding. Helen's genius son created the book covers and all the wonderful banners floating around the internet that are related to this boxed set.
I was married in a medieval church on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon. (Dartmoor is the setting for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novel The Hound of the Baskervilles.) Local folk lore held that if you poked your finger through the keyhole on the church door at midnight, the Hound of the Baskervilles would bite it off. So a super romantic location!Hubby and I chose to be married in December. Goodness knows why. The weather was so dark and stormy it looked like night time in our wedding photos.A few years after we were married the church burned down and now lies in ruins. Despite that Mr. Taylor and I have been happily married for over thirty years.
I love writing about romantic weddings where couples marry surrounded by their family as I was on my wedding day. In my story The Army Doctor's Wedding, the hero and heroine actually manage to get married to each other twice in one story. Blurb:Major Cameron Knight thrives on the danger of front-line battlefield medicine. Throwing himself into saving the lives of injured servicemen keeps the demons from his past away. When he rescues charity worker, Alice Conway, and a tiny newborn baby, he longs for a second chance to do the right thing, even if it means marrying a woman he barely knows so they can take the orphan baby to England for surgery. The brave, beautiful young woman and the orphan baby steal his heart. He wants to make the marriage real, but he can never care for them as he longs to while he is stationed overseas away from home.A good romance often ends in a wedding and I love those scenes. If you are a fan of romances and weddings then try
Ten Brides for Ten Heroes
. Ten happy-ever-afters for the price of one! Find Helen Scott Taylor on FaceBook, Twitter and her Website. p.s. I just had to ask Helen if her and hubby stuck their fingers in the keyhole and her response...
Did we stick our fingers in the keyhole--no way LOL. I'm not really superstitious but still...
