Thumbs Up Down Under!

A lovely post at the Australian Conservative........ xoxo

Pamela Geller – fearless, feisty, stylish and standing up for freedom

Just ask your average tourist. Most New Yorkers aren't known for their manners. And they tend to vote for weird liberal Democrats (so forgive me for my cynicism). But the more I learn about Pamela Geller – the more I'm changing my mind, and seeing another side of politics and culture I don't often associate with the Big Apple.

Some background: Pamela Geller is the founder, editor, and publisher of the very successful Atlas Shrugs.com blog, but more than that, she's a champion of free speech rights and that gets her in heaps of trouble. Just read London's terrorist-friendly Guardian!

The New Yorker believes in the separation of Mosque and state, and the rights of women to live their lives, without fear of religious persecution. The subject of numerous profiles – from 60 Minutes to a cover story in the Sunday New York Times – Geller also recently gained prominence for her "outspoken" views against Park51, the planned "Muslim community centre" or as she puts it, "the ground zero mega-mosque."

Not long ago, the busy blogger kindly answered some of my questions. Feisty? Yes. But in a good way. She has a very big heart – and is full of New World spirit and pluck.

Ben: You're very stylish. The NY Times states that your apartment on the East Side of Manhattan "could belong to a socialite or the editor of a lifestyle magazine" and that there "is ample light and a tasteful lack of clutter." But you talk to the people not down to them – I love that. What keeps you so grounded?

Pamela: Why would I talk down to people? I am doing simply what every free citizen should do: stand up and defend freedom. If you love freedom, and love life, there is no other choice. I am quite typical. My love of life grounds me.

Ben: I note that your "old friend" Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs recently wrote an attack piece on you, and I wonder if he's insanely jealous. Care to comment. Certainly, he is more worried about your successful blog than the status of women in, say, Iran.

Pamela Geller: I am not a psychiatrist, so I am not qualified to comment on Johnson. But yes, he demonstrates an immense lack of moral discernment.

To say that he's abandoned his principles is actually giving him too much credit. He now reviles the thing that he once was. You explain it.

Ben: Your timely book "The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War on America" has been endorsed by everyone from Geert Wilders, the famous Dutch MP, to the international columnist, Mark Steyn. What message can Australians take away from it?

Pamela Geller: Obama is presiding over and abetting America's decline as the world's superpower. This will bode ill for Australia and all free nations.

Ben: Thanks again Pamela and take care. I'm just about to order your book.

Pamela: Excellent.

Last Post of Now-Dead Blogger Accuses Yemeni Gov't in al-Qaeda attack on US Embassy

Do we dare hope that President Obama will call for international condemnation and a UN investigation into the death of this truthtelling blogger (a role the media discarded long ago)? Don't nosespray -- that's the way it should work. At least it did after 911, under the pro-American Bush administration's Bush Doctrine (you are either with us, or aganst us). It sounds like a foreign language now under a president contemptous of America's greatness.

Under Bush, any government aiding and abetting al qaeda, or any jihadist, was an enemy of the USA; today these same jihadist killers are Obama's allies.

This speaks to the role of bloggers and the risks they take because a quisling media is carrying water for the most radical, intolerant ideology in the world.

Yemeni blogger Nashwan Ghanem in last post before "suicide," accuses Yemeni gov't of complicity in al-Qaeda attack on US Embassy  Jane at MPJ (hat tip Armaros

Nashwan Ghanem was found dead of an "apparent suicide" by gun in Ibb today. These are his last posts, on his fourth blog, the one they didn't know he had. The other three sites were shut down by the Yemeni authorities. He had been writing me for some time, saying they were trying to kill him. Nashwan accused leaders of the Yemeni military of complicity in the al Qaeda attack on the US embassy in Sept '08. That post brought a 24 month avalanche of state harassment and retribution.

On 11/20/08, Menassat published an article, "Yemen: Website blocked, blogger harassed." In January the next year, Nashwan published an article at AOL, Yemen: Fattening Generals and Killing Bloggers

His recent posts don't sound suicidal to me:

October 3, 2010, In an attempt to silence my voice permanently

So now my life in danger, every day brings worse than the other ... If I did not write this on my blog, be sure that everything is over .. and that Yemeni authorities had ruled my life without knowing this one (the blog) !!

I carry full responsibility for what will happen to my life, that security and military figures accused of involvement in the attack and the attack on the U.S. embassy in Sanaa on September 17, which has assault and battery against me and threatening me with death if I went back to writing about these characters!!

In his last post, Nashwan is sounding like a guy who knows he's targeted for death and doesn't want to die, not someone about to take his own life.

October 11, 2010!! URGENT: Power Yemen kidnapping blogger Yemeni Nashwan Ghanem under the pretext of charge!!

Having failed to kidnap me on October 11, hospital men to have a car license plate that wanted to force into the car, here is today any...

It's authority is not ashamed of itself at all, This authority is used to produce scandals of the world, as well as it will carry the full responsibility of what will happen to me and the characters the military I accused of involvement in the attack on the U.S. embassy in Sanaa on September 17, 2008, which came from before the abduction and beating and threatening death!!

Niqab-Clad Puffington Ho Shills For Sharia

Puffo sharia

If the left wins in their blind, deaf and dumb pursuit of an Islamic supremacist triumph, there is an upside to the sharia. Arianna Puffington Ho and the glitterati, gay and straight, will be bitchslapped by the new reality.

Jumping jack flash is a gas gas gas.

The Huffington Post hosts a niqab-clad journalist (heh) deriding the "anti-sharia" movement. Coming from a cloth coffin, no surprise there. I understand the niqab; particularly for very obese, ugly women with beautiful eyes, it makes sense. Other than that, you're a slave.

Sabria the niqab-clothed clown writes,

Muslims may think that Osama bin Laden perverted the true meaning of Islam, but Newt Gingrich, Geert Wilders and their slavish sycophants Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller make Al-Qaeda look like amateurs in the art of deception.

Say what? Gingrich came to the counter-jihad party years after my exhaustive efforts, and he still doesn't get it. If I am a Newt sycophant, than the prophet Moe is a wannabe Jew (actually he was, come to think of it).

You can accuse me of what you like, but a syncophant? Never. Newt's? Ugh. I have railed against Newt's disloyalty as early as March 2006 here. Come out from that black cloth coffin, Sabria -- the water is just fine and so are the facts. Gingrich followed the lead of myself and others, not the other way around.

Gingrich pulled out of our 911 rally of remembrance against the Ground Zero mosque. Why? Beats me. He lacks courage. Newt doesn't get it, and how this silly, subjugated woman makes one of so many outlandish statements indicates the cluelessness of the niqab-clad mouthpiece and the Puff Ho.

Her further extolling of the sharia is downright insulting to free peoples everywhere. Apparently for this slave woman

.....the more sensational aspects of Sharia: stoning, amputations, lashings and taqiyya. Taqiyya, according to Western extremists, means that Muslims can lie with impunity to hide their true agenda of global domination. I must admit that this is a clever tactic because anyone believing in this nonsense can conveniently disregard as a lie any Muslim argument that is contrary the western extremist position. Interestingly, the Robert Spencers of the world insist we denounce terrorism and renounce Sharia. Yet their position is that all Muslims are liars, so what's the point of making these futile arguments?

[...]

... the report can't quite explain why stonings are so rare and the streets of Saudi Arabia and Iran are not filled with one-armed thieves.

Apparently there aren't enough stonings, amputations, lashings, etc., to warrant concern. How many are enough, Sabria?

As for Sabria's jackboot stomping, the niqab doth protest too much. Clearly the attacks on free speech (hate speech, aka islamophobia), sharia financing, mosqueing of the public square, the workplace, and the public school is all incremental sharia, delegitimizing Israel, rampant anti-semitism ....drip, drip, drip.

UPDATE: Spencer gives it a good thrashing:

Jawhar then complains that a recent study of Sharia's spread in America didn't include Islamic scholars. Maybe the organizers of the study didn't want it overwhelmed with fog and detours and diversions from the main point. Then she continues:

These self-proclaimed experts ignore the principles of Sharia that make Islamic values compatible with democratic societies. Indeed, the principles of Sharia are also found in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights and predate these documents by more than a millennium. These Sharia principles ensure the freedom of religion, the preservation of human life and family, the guarantee of an education and the pursuit of economic security and justice through commerce.

Freedom of religion for non-Muslims in the Islamic state only if they know their place and accept second-class status. Preservation of human life unless you're deemed a kafir harbi, an infidel at war with Islam. Preservation of the family, including polygamous arrangements in which women are essentially commodities.

Rather than focus on what Sharia has in common with American values, the report gives considerable space to a 19-year-old Muslim Brotherhood document that reportedly seeks to implement Sharia in the United States. Although the authors give much credence to this document, most American Muslims view the Muslim Brotherhood in the abstract with little relevance in their lives. The report fails to address the question of how the Muslim Brotherhood, which struggles for credibility in Muslim countries, can have a foothold in Podunk, Idaho.

Well, I don't think Podunk, Idaho exists, but in reality, while Jawhar tries to obscure the Brotherhood presence in the U.S., virtually all of the major Islamic organizations in this country -- CAIR, ISNA, ICNA, MAS, MSA, MPAC, NAIT, etc. -- have some link to the Brotherhood.

The report cleverly addresses the more sensational aspects of Sharia: stoning, amputations, lashings and taqiyya.

Jawhar is, in a word, lying. I challenge her to produce any statement of mine to the effect that "all Muslims are liars." She can't, because I have never said it. But she is obviously one herself.

Taqiyya refers to a single incident in the Qur'an in which a man concealed his religious faith when forced to renounce Islam while being tortured. If anything, recent history has taught us that anyone will lie under the threat of torture. But we are led to believe that this single incident in this context is the foundation of an Islamic strategy to impose Sharia.

Actually it is not based on an "incident" in the Qur'an at all. It is based on a statement in the Qur'an (3:28) that warns believers not to take unbelievers as "friends or helpers" (َأَوْلِيَا -- a word that means more than casual friendship, but something like alliance), "unless it be that ye but guard yourselves against them." This is a foundation of the idea that believers may legitimately deceive unbelievers when under pressure. The word used for "guard" in the Arabic is tuqātan (تُقَاةً), the verbal noun from taqiyyatan -- hence the increasingly familiar term taqiyya. The great Qur'an commentator Ibn Kathir says that the phrase rendered above as "unless it be that ye but guard yourselves against them" means that "believers who in some areas or times fear for their safety from the disbelievers" may "show friendship to the disbelievers outwardly, but never inwardly. For instance, Al-Bukhari recorded that Abu Ad-Darda' said, 'We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them.' Al-Bukhari said that Al-Hasan said, 'The Tuqyah [taqiyya] is allowed until the Day of Resurrection."

While many Muslim spokesmen today maintain that taqiyya is solely a Shi'ite doctrine, shunned by Sunnis, the great Islamic scholar Ignaz Goldziher points out that while it was formulated by Shi'ites, "it is accepted as legitimate by other Muslims as well, on the authority of Qur'an 3:28." The Sunnis of Al-Qaeda practice it today.

The Center for Security Policy wants Americans to think that stoning and amputations are around the corner, but the report can't quite explain why stonings are so rare and the streets of Saudi Arabia and Iran are not filled with one-armed thieves.

Whoops. And whoops again. And here's one from Pakistan.

The Qur'an never mentions stoning as a punishment and there are conflicting interpretations of the Prophet's involvement in implementing it. The most common interpretation is of a woman consumed with guilt over an adulterous affair that resulted in a child. She pestered the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) literally for years for him to wash away her sins with a death sentence. He refused, but when he could no longer find an excuse to send her away, he reluctantly agreed to punish her. What non-Muslim Sharia "experts" fail to mention is that stoning a person who commits adultery requires four eyewitnesses to the actual act of sexual intercourse. This fantastical burden of proof is almost impossible to fulfill. And rightly so. It's designed as prevention, not an actual punishment. Allegations of adultery are easy to make but virtually impossible to prove. Sharia makes stoning extremely unlikely to carry out.

Actually, I've pointed out the four witnesses requirement many, many times, and noted also how it is used against women. I have noted many times that according to Sisters In Islam, a Muslim reform group, there is evidence that most -- up to 75% -- of the women imprisoned in Pakistan are there because of rape. Islamic evidence laws disallow a woman's testimony in such cases, and require testimony from four male witnesses of the act to establish the rape. If such witnesses are not found, as is usually the case, and the accused perpetrator denies the act, as is usually the case, then the woman's very rape charge becomes evidence that she has committed zina -- unlawful sexual activity.

The threat by the Iranian government to stone to death Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani on a conviction of adultery is not based on the evidence of four eyewitnesses, but on a judicial authority determined to inflict fear and intimidation on the Iranian population. It's not Sharia....

Have you ever noticed that whenever a Muslim does something terrible in the name of Islam, Muslims in the West say immediately that he is not a Muslim, although he was to all appearances devout and fervent before he did his terrible deed. And now we have a parallel denial: anything noxious about Sharia is deemed to be not-Sharia -- even Sharia states implementing Sharia punishments.

Of course, non-Muslims may have reason not to believe a word I write. This may be my idea of taqiyya.

The rhetorical tactic at play here is that Jawhar is trying to shame you into thinking that it would be "Islamophobic" to suspect that she is not being honest. But since I know already that she is not being honest, as shown above, this doesn't work on me, and it shouldn't work on you, either. Her hapless Huffington Post readers are another matter.

More Tolerance from The Religion of Peace: Muslims Raid Chechen Parliament, Slaughter 6

Brought to you by the same Muslims who committed the most heinous crimes against humanity at Beslan.

Countdown to Christiane Amanpour apologizing for these barbarians...3....2...1....

Islamic militants raid Chechen parliament, 6 dead Yahoo

GROZNY, Russia – Islamic insurgents attacked Chechnya's parliament Tuesday in a brazen suicide raid that left six people dead and 17 wounded, defying Kremlin claims of stability in the volatile southern region.

In a clear challenge to Moscow, the raid occurred just as Russia's interior minister was visiting the provincial capital of Grozny.

The three attackers drove to the tightly guarded parliament complex and got inside. One militant blew himself up at the doors and another two ran into the building shouting "Allahu akbar!" — "God is great!" in Arabic — as they opened fire on the people inside, said Chechen police spokesman Ramzan Bekkhoyev.

The regional chief prosecutor's office said the remaining two attackers also blew themselves up after exchanging fire with police, while other officials said they were killed in a gunbattle. Two police officers and a civilian government employee were killed in the raid and 17 others were wounded, prosecutors said.

Bloodstains, body parts and a decapitated corpse were still scattered outside the building hours after the attack as police and special forces backed by armored vehicles patrolled the area.

Allahu FUBAR.

Bat Ye'or: The OIC and the Modern Caliphate

The world's leading scholar on Islam in the West and Islamic anti-semitism, Bat Ye'or, has penned a seminal piece on the OIC in a recent American Thinker.

Read it and then read it again. Bookmark it. Much of what you see on the ground, the imposition of Islam on our public square and secular instiutions, the attacks on free speech, the delegitimzation of Israel, the dismantling of the West, is a result of the work of the OIC.

Understanding who and wat the OIC is critical to winning the war declared on the West. Americans need to understand who and what is behind seemingly innocuous but relentless actions of islamization. It is hardly innocuous, hardly random.

Bat Ye'or is an international treasure. We owe Bat Ye'or an incalcuable debt.

OIC and the Modern Caliphate By Bat Ye'or

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is a religious and political organization. Close to the Muslim World League of the Muslim Brotherhood, it shares the Brotherhood's strategic and cultural vision: that of a universal religious community, the Ummah, based upon the Koran, the Sunna, and the canonical orthodoxy of shari'a. The OIC represents 56 countries and the Palestinian Authority (considered a state), the whole constituting the universal Ummah with a community of more than one billion three to six hundred million Muslims.

The OIC has a unique structure among nations and human societies. The Vatican and the various churches are de facto devoid of political power, even if they take part in politics, because in Christianity, as in Judaism, the religious and political functions have to be separated. Asian religions, too, do not represent systems that bring together religion, strategy, politics, and law within a single organizational structure.
Not only does the OIC enjoy unlimited power through the union and cohesion of all its bodies, but also to this it adds the infallibility conferred by religion. Bringing together 56 countries, including some of the richest in the world, it controls the lion's share of global energy resources. The European Union (EU), far from anticipating the problems caused by such a concentration of power and investing in the diversification and autonomy of energy sources since 1973, acted to weaken America internationally in order to substitute for it the U.N., the OIC's docile agent. In the hope of garnering a few crumbs of influence, the EU privileged a massive Muslim immigration into Europe, paid billions to the Mediterranean Union and Palestinian Authority, weakened the European states, undermined their unity, and wrapped itself in the flag of Palestinian justice, as though this would supply some protective system against the global jihad, which it endeavored to focus on Israel.
Religion as the main aspect of the OIC emerges from its language and its targets. It seems that the OIC is restoring in the 21st century the Caliphate, the supreme controlling body for all Muslims. In their Charter (2008), Member States confirm that their union and solidarity are inspired by Islamic values. They affirm their aim to reinforce within the international arena their shared interests and the promotion of Islamic values. They commit themselves to revitalizing the pioneering role of Islam in the world, increasing the prosperity of the member states, and -- in contrast to to the European states -- to ensure the defense of their national sovereignty and territorial integrity. They proclaim their support for Palestine with al-Quds Al Sharif, the Arabized name for Jerusalem, as its capital, and exhort each other to promote human rights, basic freedoms, the state of law (shari'a), and democracy according to their constitutional and legal system -- in other words, compliance with shari'a.
They also undertake to stimulate noble Muslim values, to preserve their symbols and their shared heritage, and to defend the universality of the Islamic religion -- simply put, the universal propagation of Islam (da'wa). They state that they are promoting women's rights and encourage their active participation in all walks of life, in accordance with the laws of the Member States. They agree to inculcate Muslim children with Islamic values and to support Muslim minorities and communities outside the Member States in order to preserve their dignity and their cultural and religious identity.
The Charter's strategic targets seek "[t]o ensure active participation of the Member States [of the OIC] in the global political, economic and social decision-making processes to secure their common interests" (I-5) and "[t]o promote and defend unified position on issues of common interest in international forums" (1-17).
Among its targets, the OIC Charter specifies the propagation, promotion, and preservation of Islamic teachings and values, the spread of Islamic culture, and the preservation of the Islamic heritage (I-11). Article I-12 promotes the protection and defense of the true image of Islam, the fight against its defamation, and the encouragement of dialogue between civilizations and religions. The other objectives deal with protecting inherent Islamic family values (I-14) and the preservation of rights, dignity, and religious and cultural identity of the Muslim communities and minorities in non-Member States (I-16). This issue points to the OIC authority over immigrants abroad and its pressure on the governments of the non-Muslim host countries through the channel of dialogue, including the Alliance of Civilizations, whose Report backs OIC programs, and interfaith and immigration networks.
The OIC supports all the jihadist movements considered to be resisting "foreign occupation," including those in "occupied" Indian Kashmir, and condemns the "humiliation and oppression" of Muslims in India.
The Charter stipulates that the International Islamic Court of Justice shall become the Organization's main legal body (Chap. X, Art. 14) and that "[t]he Independent Permanent Commission on Human Rights shall promote the civil, political, social and economic rights enshrined in the organization's [OIC] covenants and declarations and in universally agreed human rights instruments, in conformity with Islamic values" (Art. 15). It implies that the covenants which do not conform with Islamic values will not be followed.
One can note that Sudanese President Omar al Bashir, accused (according to Western criteria of justice) of genocide committed in southern Sudan and Darfur, has not been troubled by the Islamic Court of Justice. His colleagues at the OIC do not consider him in any way a criminal and receive him with great respect, as does Turkish PM Erdogan.
The Islamic Court of Justice has an international mandate and could try foreigners, both Muslims and non-Muslims (blasphemers, apostates, resisters to jihad) who have broken the laws of shari'a anywhere. Moreover, the claim by the OIC to be the guardian and protector of Muslim immigrants living in all countries that are not members of the OIC implies an extension of its jurisdiction and political influence over all the Muslims of Europe, North and South America, and the other non-Member States. This situation exacerbates the danger incurred by non-religious European Muslims, whether atheists, apostates, or free thinkers.
Within its organization, the Charter presents characteristics similar to those of the EU; however, in terms of its spirit, functions, principles, and objectives, it is the EU's very antithesis. Even if it employs the language of international organizations, the meaning of the words is different by their being rooted in the conceptual world of the Koran, which contradicts the basis of secular Western thought. Thus, Article 32-2 states, "The Council of Foreign Ministers [of OIC countries] shall recommend the rules of procedures of the Islamic Summit." This implies an Islamic view and understanding on policy.
Such a combined political and religious institution is at the very outer rim of Western thinking, anchored as it is in the separation between politics and religion. Even if interference between the two fields has persisted, the principle of such separation has facilitated emancipation in the intellectual and political arenas from religious authority and the development of critical thought.
Present-day aspiration of the Ummah to submit to a caliphate which embodies a combined political-religious institution can only surprise the Westerner and highlight the gap that separates the two. Rooted in individualism, Europeans cultivate the search for happiness and cherish freedom of thought and of rational, scientific exploration, which are perceived as a human being's greatest privilege and finest adventure.
Conversely, aspiring to the Caliphate indicates the longing for a supreme authority owing its infallibility to Allah and his human intermediary, Mohammed. According to Ibn Khaldoun, this institution placing politics at the service of worldwide, religious expansionism was created as instrument for the mandatory Islamization of mankind. Faced today with this political archaism, a divided and broken West seeks refuge in denial and grasps at the demise of tiny Israel as though at a lifebelt. Taking in water from every side, this West that abandons its own identity for multilateralism and multiculturalism and ruins its citizenry by buying security has little chance of survival.

Homeland Security Goes Jihad: Pro-Khomeini Muslim Named to Homeland Security Advisory Council

Mohamed Elibiary was one of the speakers at a December 2004 conference in Dallas entitled "A Tribute to the Great Islamic Visionary," Ayatollah Khomeini. When Rod Dreher of the Dallas Morning News called him on this, he threatened Dreher, telling him: "Expect someone to put a banana in your exhaust pipe."

Fox Guarding Henhouse Alert: "Secretary Napolitano Swears in Homeland Security Advisory Council Members," from the Department of Homeland Security, October 15 (thanks to Jeff):

Washington, D.C. - Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano swore in three new members of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) during her latest tri-annual meeting with HSAC, which took place at DHS headquarters this week. The HSAC is comprised of experts from state, local and tribal governments, emergency and first responder communities, academia and the private sector who provide recommendations and advice to the Secretary of Homeland Security on a variety of homeland security issues.

The new members include: former New York City Police Commissioner and Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton, who will join as vice-chair to former CIA and FBI Director Judge William Webster; Massachusetts General Hospital Director of Police, Security and Outside Services Bonnie Michelman; and Freedom and Justice Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Elibiary. [...]

Mohamed Elibiary is the President and CEO of the Freedom and Justice Foundation, and has advised numerous federal, state and local law enforcement organizations including the Texas Department of Safety and National Counterterrorism Center Global Engagement Group on matters relating to homeland security. Recently, Elibiary served on DHS's Homeland Security Advisory Council Countering Violent Extremism Working Group, and currently serves on the Texas Department of Public Safety Advisory Board. In December of 2009 he helped establish the Texas Fusion Center Policy Council to enhance information sharing, analytical capabilities and community relations at the state and local law enforcement levels.

I have met Mohamed Elibiary. He is a slick fellow. You can read here his dancing and obfuscation about deception in Islam and other matters, in a long exchange we had here at Jihad Watch. Read it carefully, noting the questions I ask him and the answers he gives to them, and ask yourself whether he really ought to be on the Homeland Security Advisory Council.

Elibiary once asked me to post his explanation of his appearance at the Khomeini tribute conference. You can read all about that here.

Foreign Minister Will Not Permit Saudi Arabia To Finance Mosques in Norway

Norway
Norway2

The Norwegian foreign minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, will not allow Saudi Arabia to finance or build any mosques in Norway because of the laws in Saudi Arabia that deny basic religious freedoms. This also includes money from Saudi citizens.

America ought to take a serious look at such an approach. Not even from the religious aspect, but from the terror perspective and the obvious advanced civilizationist jihad that is advancing on a grand scale. 80% of the mosques in America have been radicalized by the Saudis.

Mainstream US Muslim organizations are heavily influenced by Saudi-funded extremists, according to Yehudit Barsky, an expert on terrorism at the American Jewish Committee.

Worse still, Barsky told The Jerusalem Post these "extremist organizations continue to claim the mantle of leadership" over American Islam.

The power of the extremist Wahhabi form of Islam in the United States was created with generous Saudi financing of American Muslim communities over the past few decades. Over 80 percent of the mosques in the United States "have been radicalized by Saudi money and influence," Barsky said.

Here's the Google translation to the article in the Norwegian press:

Minister (Labor) will prevent Saudi Arabia to finance mosques in Norway.

Saudi government and wealthy individuals want to build mosques for tens of millions in Norway. They have allowed according to Norwegian laws Ãkonomisk support to religious communities. The assumption is that the Norwegian government approves funding, newspaper VG.

In a response to the Islamic Center Tawfiiq MFA writing that it would be "paradoxical and unnatural if it was given approval for funding from sources in a country where it does not open for religious freedom."

- We could have said no, the principle does not give UD such approvals. But when we asked, we use the opportunity to add that an approval would be paradoxical since it is a crime in Saudi Arabia to establish Christian communities, said Minister of VG.

State Secretary Espen Barth Eide, visiting Saudi Arabia today, and will take up the allowance:

- I understand that many of my European colleagues have the same problem, and Norway will take the matter up in the Council of Europe, says the Minister.

The answer from the Foreign Ministry is to Tawfiiq Islamic Center, but the Minister said that the religious community Alnor that will build the mosque in Tromsø with the support of a Saudi Arabian businessman, will have an identical response.

Moderate UAE: Muslims Allowed to Beat Their Wives and Young Children As Long as They Don't Leave Marks

In the moderate Muslim country of the UAE< a man was found guilty of slapping his wife so hard he damaged her bottom lip and teeth. He also slapped and kicked his 23-year-old daughter so that she suffered bruises on her hand and knee.

He appealed claiming that even if he had intended to strike his wife and daughter, under Shariah law he had the right to do so.

This needs no comment.

Men ALLOWED to beat their wives and young children (as long as they don't leave any marks), rules UAE court  Daiy Mail (hat tip Pt C)

Husbands are allowed to beat their wives and children - as long as they don't leave any physical marks, an Islamic court in the United Arab Emirates has ruled.

The astonishing legal ruling gives all husbands and fathers in the ultra-rich Gulf state the 'right to discipline' female family members if they have first attempted reconciliation.

The judgment was made by one of the UAE's most senior judges, Chief Justic Falah al Hajeri, who made the ruling in the case of a man fined £85 for slapping his wife and kicking his daughter.

Permission to beat: The UAE's highest judicial body has ruled a man can assault his wife and young children as long as he leaves no physical marks

The Emirati man in the case was found guilty of slapping his wife so hard he damaged her bottom lip and teeth.

He also slapped and kicked his 23-year-old daughter so that she suffered bruises on her hand and knee.

While the defendant, who has not been named, initially claimed he hit the two women only by accident, he was found guilty of assault.

However, he appealed, claiming that even if he had intended to strike his wife and daughter, under Shariah law he had the right to do so if he had first exhausted all other ways of resolving the dispute.

Chief Justice Falah al Hajeri said: 'Although the law permits the husband to use his right to discipline, he has to abide by the limits of this right.

'If the husband abuses this right to discipline, he cannot be exempted from punishment.'

Mr al Hajeri went on to explain that one of the ways of determining whether a man had breached this limit was to look for physical traces of beating.

While the ruling was greeted with anger by many Arab world commentators, others claimed it is a 'real-life compromise' between the competing demands of the petro-state's highly Westernised population and its conservative Muslim heritage.
