Having Peace With Money

woman on a beachAre you sick and tired of the roller-coaster of having money and then the stomach-churning stress of no money? What if you could have peace with money instead?

Benevolent capitalism is about having a pragmatic approach to money and that begins with figuring out what your life actually costs.

It costs to run your business; it costs to run your life. If you know how much it costs to run your life then you will not necessarily over-spend.

Most people don’t know what it costs to run their life or what they should spend, so they just spend money as they have it.

If you would like to have a different reality, you’ve got to be willing to have 3 things:

Wealth is the ability to have things to sell with ease.
Money is any source of liquid asset that you can move on quickly.
Cash is what you carry around and wonder why you don’t have enough.

A whole lot of people think they’re comfortable with their income, and that’s when they stop creating their life.

If you’re comfortable with where you are, then you’re not stretching yourself to create and generate more.

To assume you’re comfortable is a mistake.

What if you could start a different conversation about money, profit and revenue streams with the people in your business and the people in your life?

Benevolent Capitalism – Opening Doors to Greater Possibilities for All

people paddling a canoe togetherBenevolent capitalism is the place where you look to see how everything can be greater. Possibility is what we as infinite beings have; total possibility. If we function from infinite possibility and look at what is actually possible, we can open the door to greater possibilities… ALWAYS. A point of view never creates. A question always does. Question anything and you can create possibility.

How many points of view are you using to undermine the possibilities of everything you could be choosing?

If you do the problems and the difficulties and the standard operative procedure of this reality and standard capitalistic functioning, you’re only going to see the problems, difficulties and what can’t be done. You will never be able to see what would actually work.

Benevolent capitalism is not about looking for the answer. Benevolent capitalism is about looking for the possibility. A possibility is never an answer or a completion. A possibility is always an open door to greater possibility.

Here are 3 qualities of Benevolent Capitalism that when implemented, create a greater possibility in business:

Be willing to create a future that doesn’t yet exist.

The only way you are going to have a viable business is if you are looking to create a future that doesn’t yet exist. The future of the world is not based on what you can buy or what you can do. The future of the world is based on the experience you can have that nobody else can have. The future of the world is based on the experiences that will be in existence. The future is going to be an experiential world. It’s going to be where you can have something that you can’t get any place else.

With all the electronics we have going on everywhere, we are losing silence. Part of a project I am working on is called “Project Possibilities.” Project Possibilities includes the creation of a castle. This castle will be a place where people can go to have silence. This will be the primary source of the experience at the castle… the sense of peace, the sense of elegance and the sense of quiet you cannot get. The castle has an amazing life force of its own and it will be a business that contributes to all.

Change the structure of business.

When you are creating a business, you want to create a business that is associated with an experiential point of view. When you are doing experiential, it is never about “this” equals “this.” It is the question of, “What will people desire in the future?” The experiential will become the future as that is the only adventure left for mankind to have.

Look at what you can change; not what you can control.

Change is the only source of sustainability. You’ve got to look at what needs to be changed every day. The only way you can fail is if you’re unwilling to change. The change you are willing to create is the thing that will expand your business and grow things for you quicker, easier and greater than anything else you can do. Ask, “What can I change today? What can I be or do different?” Change is the primary source for everything that will create everything you desire in life.

Take nature for example. It will flood an area because that is the way to sustain the growth of everything in the area. Mankind will try to avoid the flood because it changes too much.

Nature doesn’t have the point of view that it can’t change everything. It has the point of view that sometimes you need to burn down the forest to find what is actually available to create from.

Recognize that the real economics is the energetics of what can be created that most of us do not perceive or acknowledge.

Benevolent Capitalism is about how what you contribute, contributes to everyone around you. Look at who is contributing to you and then contribute to them and that creates more possibility. Contribution ripples out into the world. When you look to how you can expand your life, it will expand the lives of others too. Benevolent Capitalism is where everybody is contributing what they can contribute to each other so that everything expands for all.

Greater possibilities are available – in life, in business, for the planet. Are you willing to choose those possibilities? Are you willing to create a future that does not yet exist?

What if Money Was About the Possibility and Not the Problem?

Cover Art for Gary Douglas Blog on MoneyMost of us tend to look for the problem rather than the possibility, whether it’s about money or anything else. We have a tendency to think, “I’ve got to handle this problem.” But what if everything was about the possibility and nothing was about the problem?

With money, everything has to be about possibility, never about problem, because when you look for the problem, you will always create the problem in order to create the possibility. You keep trying to avoid that which will actually work in order to prove that your life doesn’t work.

If you would like to change this, if would like to make money about the possibility rather than the problem, here are 7 questions to consider.

1. Do you have a definition of you that defines you by the level of money you currently have?

The reason you have a problem with spending money, the reason you have a problem with having money, the reason you have a problem with anything to do with money is that you have decided you are stupid with money. Isn’t it interesting that you like eliminating money from your life? That you like not having it?

2. If you had no monetary problems, what would you create?

If you had to create your reality beyond anybody else’s reality, what would occur? You’d have to get to a place where your brain goes out to lunch, and possibility begins to eat at the limitations of your reality so you start to create a reality that works for you. Are you willing to be the awareness of those possibilities?

3. What do I need to do or what do I need to be that would bring this to actualization with total ease?

You choose to be somewhat aware but rather than actually being aware, you keep trying to see that something else is necessary, something else is proper, or something else has to happen. It’s not “Something else has to happen.” It’s “What do I need to be or do to actualize this?”

4. As long as money is more valuable than you, can you choose consciousness?

The universe has your back when you ask it to send you what you need. You have to ask it to contribute to you. Do you ever ask the consciousness of the universe to contribute to you? You ask for everything except the consciousness, which knows more than you do in every respect, to actually deliver what you are asking for.

5. What would happen if you were willing to have the consciousness of the universe contribute to you?

Money is something you use to change people’s reality. What amount of money can you use that would change somebody’s reality? In every moment, you’ve got to ask “How can I use the money I have to create a different reality for someone right now?” You’ve got to be willing to look at that, because the purpose of money is not about having more of the stuff you think you need to own.

6. What question do I have to be to create a different reality with total ease?

You have to look at how you want to live your life, because as you begin to create your life, the universe starts delivering to you. When I was young and dumb and had no money, I was often around an aunt who had lots of money. She had beautiful things, she had beautiful rugs, she had beautiful china, crystal, and sterling flatware that she ate with every day. That was her reality. I said, “I want to live like that!”

7. What question do I have to be to create a different reality with total ease?

You have to create beyond this reality. Conclusion works only as long as you are not willing to expand your life beyond anybody else’s reality. Let’s say you’ve got a million dollars. That’s nice. What is it going to change? Is $10 million going to change much? Not if you hold on to it. Is a different point of view going to change reality?

For money to be about possibility rather than problem requires you to ask questions. It requires you to look from a different place. As you change your point of view about money and begin to live from the space of ‘what else is possible?’ everything in your life is going to start to change.

BEING Money

Image for Being Money BlogHere you are, standing in the rain. It’s warm, wet and your clothes are soaked. Your feet squelch and you dance for joy. There is no sense of separation. You are oneness with one drop of rain and all drops of rain simultaneously. The gift of life radiates through every pore and molecule of your body and being. Now, turn every raindrop into money. It’s falling down around you. Coins ting and thud as they hit the ground. Notes flutter through the air over and over as they gently come to rest. The heavens are open and there is no end; just constant flow. Is there any separation between you and money? Do you notice anything different? Are you willing to BE MONEY?

Receiving is the ability to perceive all the information there is, without a point of view. Most of you can be and receive the rain and get the sense of oneness that’s available without a point of view. How about money? Was that different for you? Do you have a sense of ease with receiving it or do you have points of view about receiving money? If you have points of view about receiving money, are you actually willing to be the money you say you would like to receive? In order to receive money, you have to be willing to BE MONEY. When you BE more, you also receive more. You can ask what am I refusing to receive that I can now choose to be? Your choice to be is what creates money and everything else in your life.

Receiving is not taught very well on this planet. Do you know what receiving is to you? Have you defined what receiving is based on someone else’s point of view? Most people have some definition of receiving but when you define receiving, you limit it.

What if there was something totally different available? Would you choose it? What is actually true for you in regards to receiving? Ask for what you are willing to receive if you would like it to show up. What can you be that you are actually willing to receive?

Three questions to ask to become money:
1.What am I refusing that I can now choose to be?
2.What can I be that I am actually willing to receive?
3.What money can I be to change reality with total ease?

We often stick ourselves with that which we are unwilling to be. For example if you have the point of view that you are a grifter (someone who lies or cons people into giving them money) while trying not to be a grifter, what does that create? What if you were willing to be a grifter? Would that give you more choice or less? Most of you have lots of points of view about what you will not be. Good news is, whatever you are unwilling to be, you will not receive. What have you been refusing to be that if you would be it would create way too much money in your life?

The purpose of money is to change reality. How many of you have been unwilling to be the money that would change reality? Who’s reality can I change today with the money I be right away? The more you are willing to be and receive, the more you be that which changes everything.

Out of the Box and Into Awareness, Choice and Limitless Possibilities

photo of open birdcageWe have a choice in life of living by other people’s reality or figuring out our own. This reality tries to shove you in a box. The box of normalcy. The box of consistency. The box of sameness. The box of trying to be like everybody else. This box is the prison of polarity that keeps you from living the life you desire.

Getting out of the box is the place where you realize that this reality is not enough for you and you would like to create something different. Outside of the box is the multiple choice universe of possibilities in which you get to choose what works for you rather than living your life by somebody else’s point of view. Only you can know what will truly work for you.

Mostly, we are not told that creating a reality beyond this reality is a valuable thing. This reality teaches us how to conform in business, in relationships and with money. It tells you what you should have and what you should be. Do you really desire to be the same as everyone else and conform to the normalcy of this reality? Or do you wish to create more; way more?

If living in the box of this reality isn’t working for you, if you desire way more and would like to create it, ask, “What do I desire as my life and living?”

Don’t ask, what’s right. Don’t ask what should be or what ought to be but realize that you have a different possibility available. What is true for you? What would actually work for you? What do you desire?

You have to have the awareness of what is actually true for you and know what you would like to create. When you function from the place of awareness, you can create that which is greater than anyone else around you.

Here are 3 questions you can use to get out of the box and into awareness, choice and possibility:

1. What’s my reality? If I were no longer trying to be like someone else, what is actually true for me?
2. What would I like to create? What do I know that no one else on the planet knows?
3. If I were choosing for me, what would I choose?

Can you imagine what your life would be like now if you had this awareness and these questions as a teenager? Most kids go through school wondering what’s wrong with them because they don’t fit in. What they actually have is this limitless capacity to be different and to open doors to a greater reality than anyone else has been willing to achieve. We keep trying to get them to see how this reality makes sense rather than asking questions that empower them to see what other choices are available.

What would the world be like if we were all functioning from limitless possibilities that we haven’t yet considered?

Is now the time to get out of the box?

Dealing with Difficult People

Photo of two people in a dinerDifficult actually means “hard to please”. When you are dealing with someone who is difficult, they tend to be functioning from a fixed point of view and having all the right answers.

When you are dealing with someone like this you don’t want to fight them because they will defend their point of view and fight even harder. What you want to do is look at how you can get around the situation and say things like, “I see what you’re talking about, and how about this?”

Asking questions opens the doors to other possibilities. When you don’t ask questions, people are forced to defend their point of view. How much change is possible when someone is defending their point of view? Oh yah, none. When you ask a question, it allows the other person to explain what they might see that you might not. It doesn’t mean that they are right and you are wrong or you are right and they are wrong, it’s just the way it is.

Three ways in which difficult people try to make things difficult and what you can do about it:

1.   Difficult people often use anger as a source for creating fight and defense.

When someone is angry with you, they are trying to get you to fight back or defend your point of view. When you fight back it adds to the continuation of that energy and creates more of it. Is that really where you want to live and create from or do you desire something different? What is it that you desire to do and be? You have to be clear about what you would like to create for you to have something that works for you.

2.   Difficult people use judgment to create control and to determine what you’re going to choose.

When someone is using judgement to control you, you have to say “Wow, thank you so much for caring”. This puts them into question about if they actually do care or not and they will back off. If they have to be right they will never be able to admit when they were wrong. People who are using judgment want to believe that you are going to trust them, like them and believe that they are right. The way to deal with this is to never have to be right or wrong. Allow everything to be just an interesting point of view.

3.   Difficult people will lie to you.

Dealing with liars is easy, they are actually gifting you with the information you need to deal with them. Acknowledge the lie and know that you never have to trust anything they say because they are going to lie no matter what. Just Say “Thank you” without a fight or confrontation and they will change if they choose to. Confrontation never works. All it does is demand that the other person puts up their dukes and starts fighting.

What if you never had to fight anything? What if everything was just a choice?

If you’re dealing with someone difficult, you always want to put them in the place of questioning what you are looking at that they don’t see. Give them a wedge that makes them ask you a question like “What do you mean by that?”. A great way to do this is to acknowledge people for what they are being.

For example, if someone is being difficult, you don’t want to tell them that they are an Evil Little Fuck (ELF) cause that will create a fight. But, you could acknowledge them as an ELF by saying, “Wow, your such an ELF” which will put them into question. Then they will ask “What’s an ELF? What do you mean?” Don’t tell them what you mean. Let them be in question.

The main thing you want to get in dealing with difficult people is that it’s not about you being right and them being wrong. And, it’s not about them being right and you being wrong. It’s about a different possibility showing up. When you are willing to ask the questions the put them into question, things will change for you.

What Do Your Kids Know About Money?

photo of child with hands covering his faceWas money a forbidden subject when you were growing up? Did you have lots and lots of ideas for new businesses and great ways to make money that you were told you were wrong for having? Or perhaps you were ignored when you talked about them. Or told it was impossible and that one day you’d understand the real world. Or, maybe you just didn’t know how to take your ideas and actually create them.

Would you like for your children to have the same reality you had or would you like to be a source for empowering them to have something different? What if they could know what they know and you could encourage them to have fun and play with money? What would be different for you financially if you had been asked questions like “What do you know about money that no one else knows?”

Chances are you know way more than you “think” you know about money, cash, wealth and business and your kids do too. Would you be willing to allow them to know what they know? Would you be willing encourage their creativity and inspiration?

Here Are 3 Tips You Can Use With Your Kids to Empower Them With Money:

1.   Encourage Your Kids to Ask for Money.

Teach your kids to ask for money, have fun with money and look at the possibilities that can be created with money. Kids have so many brilliant ideas and they have endless amounts of energy to contribute to creating whatever it is that they are working on. For kids, it is often not about the reward for completing a project, but the thrill and enthusiasm for bringing an idea into reality.

You may have heard, “Ask and you will receive.” All too often we teach our kids the opposite of asking. We tell them asking is rude. Or that they should be content with what they have. But, the reality is, you to be willing to asking for what you desire. Asking doesn’t have to mean asking someone else; and it can. For starters, when your kids have a creative idea, teach them to ask, “What else is possible that I have not considered?” And, “What can I do or be today to create this idea right away?”

2.   Choose!

One of the great gifts of children is they come in with the point of view that everything can be done and nothing can stop them. They will ask questions. They will think of new ways of getting around things. They will scream, kick and cry until they achieve what they desire. This doesn’t always work for us as parents or adults, but what if we encouraged our kids to create what they desire? To go for it. To never give up.

As a parent, it’s not your job to “raise” your children, to tell them what they should and shouldn’t do. Instead, ask questions and then allow them to choose. Some of their choices will work out. Some won’t. But, when you are in allowance of their choices they will come to the awareness of what works for them and what doesn’t.

3.   Don’t Tell Them What They Should Do

Have you ever had someone tell you what you should do to plan for your future? Does it annoy the hell out of you? Do you think, how would you know what the future will look like for ME?

We create future based on the choices we make. Who is best placed to make the choices that create future for your children? That would be your children! So, rather than telling them what YOU think they need to know and what YOU think they need to do to prepare for the future, ask, “What can I do or be today to empower my kids to create the future THEY know is possible?”

You may not have been nurtured, encouraged and empowered to be the creativity you truly be as a child, but you can choose to be that for your kids. You can show them that something else is possible. Ask them questions. Allow them to choose. Encourage them to be aware of what their choice creates and, no matter how hard it may be, don’t tell them what to do. Empower them to know that they know.

Can you imagine what the world will be like and what possibilities for the future will be created when we acknowledge the contribution of our kids? It’s what you choose and be today that creates the future. So what can you choose and be today to create a new reality and future possibilities right away?

Empowering You to See Different Possibilities

The willingness to be different will always keep the door open for a greater possibility and success.

I was recently interviewed by Ben Fewtrell and we talked about everything from business and success to questioning and creation.

Here are 3 questions to ask every day.

Ask yourself: what choice did I have today that I didn’t have yesterday?
Ask yourself: what else is possible, what else is possible, what else is possible?
Ask yourself: What can I be or do different today?

Questions create, conclusions destroy

How to Ask For What You Truly Want

Do you speak in an indirect manner when talking to your boyfriend or spouse? Are the conversations you’re having always ending up in an unresolved argument that never seems to move forward? Are you scared of being direct with your feelings?

To create more ease when dating or in a relationship, you need to get clear on what you are truly trying to communicate. It’s time to learn how to be more open and ask for what you truly want out of your relationships!

Let’s be straight: women have a habit of talking in subtext. And if you think you don’t, have a look at these examples:

What if “No, I don’t want to have a baby yet” actually means “Will you support me while I take over the world?”
What if “I’m too tired” is code for “Our sex life is getting boring, what else is possible?”
What if “I don’t like your friends” is underpinned by the idea “My life is not exciting enough for me, and your friends remind me of that?”

Most indirect statements are based on a fear of judgments and conclusions that make us afraid to call something what it really is.

Learning how to be more open and  have direct conversations ultimately empowers us to establish relationships that will allow us to be who we truly are into our lives. These conversations also invite us into our own lives. What if you have been living on the periphery of your life and your conversations reflect that?

Changing it starts with getting real – asking the questions you don’t like to ask. You know, the ones you avoid asking yourself because if you did, you would have to change your life. The funny thing is, underneath all the resistance, you clearly have a desire to change your life or you wouldn’t be here reading this right now!

Here are five questions to start asking yourself. You may not have answers right now, but if you keep asking them, the whispers of your future possibilities will start talking to you! (And so will your partner! In a totally different way…)

What do I truly want?
What could I be or do differently that would change my current situation?
What am I making wrong that isn’t?

Is it time to stop buying the lies that limit you and start asking the questions that expand your choices?

3 Key Strategies to Grow Your Business With Ease

gary-business-blog

Every business owner asks for growth, but when it comes, few are prepared to receive it. The greatest gift you can give yourself, as a business owner is being willing to be aware of the future. Not by getting endless psychic readings, but by communicating closely with your business and being acutely aware of what it will require next. You will be the greatest bottleneck in your business if you aren’t willing to be curious, flexible and ahead of today’s challenges.

Having grown my business from nothing into a globally successful company, here are three key strategies I continually use to keep expanding everything with ease.

1. Make Competition Irrelevant

My target is always to put forth the business and myself to be as different as we are. Our focus is contribution, not competition and we give little energy or attention to what other people in the self-help and consciousness industry are doing. Instead of making it all about your competition, ask yourself and your team: “What will it take to out-create ourselves today?”

You’ll recognize the ideas that are really different when you can’t see anyone else doing it your way and people start talking about what you are doing. Don’t hide! Celebrate! And continue to out-create. Even if it feels uncomfortable – what if this is how sustainable growth begins?

2. Add Systems That Can Grow With You

Whenever you add a new system, ensure it is flexible and can grow with you as you create the business that is inspired by your vision. When you add people, create systems that invite people to contribute as much (and more!) to the business as when there were only three of you doing everything!

Most businesses create structures that stifle the contribution the people in the business can be. What can be different about your system that allows every person to be a greater contribution than his or her job description suggests? What would it be like if you allowed people to create their own job descriptions so they could do the things they are best at? Innovative systems out-create traditional ways of doing business that just don’t work anymore.
