Throwback Thursday – Warlord Unarmed
In the past, I’ve called Gale, the heroine of Warlord Unarmed, a space hoarder. But hoarder is often associated now with lack of cleanliness, with garbage and soiled stuff.
Gale’s collection of obtained things is meticulously cared for and cleaned. She merely has a lot of it. Her objects might not have value to anyone else as she takes the broken things, the discarded things but she values them…greatly.
And Murad, her barbarian hero, grows to understand that. He is the perfect warrior for Gale.

Murad, a technology-loving Chamele Warlord, has to track down and eliminate a rogue warrior before that male ends Murad’s reign. Permanently.
When a pieced-together wreck of a ship enters the sector without authorization, Murad assumes it is piloted by an ally of his enemy and decides to blow the battered vessel out of open space.
Then he hears the voice of its sole occupant and his orders and his priorities immediately shift. The captain of the ship is his gerel, the one female he’s genetically compatible with—the light to his darkness, his future, his everything.
He will protect her…even if it costs him his life.
Bounty hunter Gale doesn’t want or need protection. She has entered Chamele space on a rescue mission. A tall, muscular, half-naked barbarian with humor-lit eyes and gentle hands won’t distract her from that purpose, no matter what he tries.
A broken ship and an enemy focused on revenge do interfere with her plans. Gale’s goal changes from saving a friend to saving herself. The only being who can increase her chances of survival is the one Warlord she can’t resist.

Contemporary Romance
A whole bunch of reading buddies have discovered my contemporary romances and I’m super thrilled about that. (big hugs)
A question I’ve been receiving is…
Do I plan to write more contemporary romances?
At this time, I have NO plans to write more contemporary romances. I’ve been sucked deep into the cyborg romance universe. I have a few alien romance ideas. But no contemporary romances are, at the moment, yelling to be written.
I need to escape the planet for a while. (grins) I’m certain you can appreciate that. (looks around us)
That doesn’t mean I won’t write contemporary romances in the future. I merely don’t have any of those stories in my brain right now.

Provoking Odium And Beauty And The Beast
Beauty and the Beast is, hands down, my all time favorite romance trope. I could and DO read it again and again. I also love to write it.
Provoking Odium, the first story in the Cyborg Unity series (releasing in June), is a twist on the Beauty and the Beast trope.
Odium, the cyborg warrior, is the beauty. Cyborgs are designed to be the Humanoid Alliance’s view of physically perfection. Odium is grim yet extremely handsome.
Briella, his human female, is the beast. She has earned that nickname for a few reasons.
She’s extremely brave, is contacted by Beings For Peace, to rescue beings no one else could possibly save. Yeah. She’s a total bada$$. (grins)
Briella is also called Beast because she is severely scarred. And she tends to lean into her nickname, is gruff and a bit surly, keeping everyone at a distance, reinforcing the rough rumors about her.
She doesn’t ever expect to be loved…but then, she has never met a cyborg like Odium.

Purses In Space
Would beings still carry purses far into the future?
I’d like to think all garments would, by that time, have sufficient pockets or built-in holster or sheathes to carry things like weapons or nourishment bars or other supplies.
BUT there will always be a need for some sort of pack for larger hauls. If a being plans to blow up a space station, for example, she can’t carry all those explosives in her pockets. A medic can’t carry all her supplies in her pockets either.
So yes, I believe beings would still carry purses of some sort.
The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I spotted this warrior-friendly purse in a shop in Florida.
This silver clutch purse could double as a weapon, as brass knuckles, and could carry a small gun. Some of my heroines would love it as an accessory. (grins)

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – April 10th
I spent this past week thinking about Grin And Bare Him, the second story in the Cyborg Unity series (likely releasing in September). I believe I have a good handle on Grin, the cyborg hero, and I already know quite a bit about his heroine (we meet her in Provoking Odium). I also have the first few scenes in my head.
I’ll start writing those scenes this week. I’m excited to craft this story, hope to send it to my Awesome Editor at the end of May.
Once I am three or four chapters into the story, I will likely craft the blurb/book description and set it up at booksellers for pre-orders.

No Description Yet For Grin And Bare Him
Yesterday, I shared the awesome cover for Grin And Bare Him (you can see that post here – http://tasteofcyn.com/?p=9443 ). Some reading buddies have asked me about the blurb or book description.
Unfortunately, I don’t yet have the blurb crafted.
I know the story is about Grin (we met him in Breathing Vapor) and I know we meet his heroine in Provoking Odium, the first story in Cyborg Unity (releasing in June), and I kind of know the first few scenes. But I don’t yet have enough information about the story to craft a blurb.
It WILL be a romance. It WILL feature a cyborg hero and a humanoid heroine. I’m almost certain there will be explosions and some steamy scenes and there will be a mission. It will have all the elements of one of my cyborg romances.

Throwback Thursday – Seeking Vector
Vector and Kasia, the hero and heroine of Seeking Vector, made an appearance in Seizing Power, my latest release. Vector is the captain of a ship Power boards and Kasia is Vector’s hacker genetic match.
Will Vector and Kasia make appearances in future stories? Yes. Absolutely yes. They are two key beings in the cyborg world.
And they are magical together. The love, the acceptance, the trust (both of them have secrets) is palpable when they are on the page. I love this couple and I hope you’ll love them also.
Seeking Vector
A cyborg with a secret… A female seeking the truth…
Vector, the C Model captain of the Freedom, is a cyborg many warriors wish to emulate. He fights fiercely, leads with honor, has earned the respect and loyalty of his crew. But no being, not even a cyborg, is perfect. Since arriving at the Homeland, Vector has been hiding a dark truth about his past. If his secret is exposed, he could lose everything – his position, his ship, and his life.

Planning Series As A Pantser
I’m a pantser. I write by the seat of my pants, not having a plot before I sit down at my keyboard. I normally know the first scene of a story and perhaps a bit about that first point of view character (the hero or the heroine) and that’s it.
Which makes planning a series challenging. (laughs)
In the case of Cyborg Unity, it was a little easier because we ‘meet’ Odium’s heroine in Seizing Power. She’s the freighter captain who calls for help.
I didn’t know anything else about her at the time. And I had no idea who the next four stories were about.
I needed titles and covers for these stories, however. My cover artist requires a long lead time. I like to list all the stories in a series in the description for that first story.
So I jotted down the names of the cyborgs who hadn’t yet found their matches. And I allowed my heart to decide.
Grin, Raw, Strive, Intrepid called to me. Those heroes felt…right. I didn’t know why at the time.
But as I think about story 2 – Grin And Bare Him – I realize I couldn’t have written anyone else’s stories.
That, my friends, is storytelling magic and I’m constantly in awe of it. The muse always knows.

A Very Long Commute
I was joking with the Dear Wonderful Hubby that Power and Eirene Ours have a VERY long commute.
At the end of Seizing Power, they’ve agreed to split their time between the Homeland and Mercury Minor, two planets within the same sector yet situated many planet rotations (days) apart distance-wise.
Is this commute feasible?
Sure. They have systems and beings in place. They could manage their planets from a ship if they wanted to do that.
But, of course, it is easier to know what is truly happening in a place if they are physically there. And they have loved ones on both Mercury Minor and the Homeland.
It remains a long commute, however. (grins)
