Throwback Thursday – Passion Surge

Holding Hoarse, this year’s thank you gift, is releasing
next week. This cyborg romance short story features Hoarse, an ulu-fabricating
C Model who keenly wishes to find his female.

Hoarse first appears in Passion Surge, last year’s free
short story. Passion Surge is short and sweet and might be a great story to
re-read during this busy last weekend in November. Whether you’re online
shopping for gifts or video-chatting with loved ones or making snow angels in
the front yard, you can get your hit of happy ever afters between those activities
with this short story.

Passion Surge

This cyborg never expected to become an instant father.

Surge is fascinated with newly manufactured offspring. He has studied them extensively, was one of the few medics present when the very first freeborn cyborg entered the universe.

He’s currently assigned to a battle station with an all-male crew. The probability of tending to an offspring is a dismal 0.0000 percent.

That changes when an unknown ship ventures into the sector they’re protecting.

Nu is an extremely exhausted single mom with a fussy newborn daughter. She has no time or energy for anyone or anything else. That includes a cyborg medic with gentle hands, brilliant blue eyes, and a voice deeper than space.

He claims she’s his female, the one being genetically designed for him. She has heard those types of declarations in the past.

Only a warrior without equal—and some much-needed rest—would prompt this universe-weary mom to believe in romantic love again.

Passion Surge is a short, light, companion story in the Cyborg Space Exploration series and is meant to be read after Doc’s Orders.

Warlord’s Return – The Final Story In The Chamele Barbarian Warlords Series

Some reading buddies have been asking me if there will be
more stories in the Chamele Barbarian Warlords Series.

Warlord’s Return IS the final story in the series.

Maybe, far in the distant future, I’ll write a next
generation alien and modified humanoid series (I will DEFINITELY be writing a
next generation cyborg series). I will never say never because ideas happen. But
I have no plans at the moment to write any more stories featuring the Chameles.

Chamele warriors will likely appear as minor characters in
other stories. They live in the same universe as the cyborgs and the modified
humanoids and other species.

Chameles don’t travel outside their sector very often but a
rare few HAVE made homes on other planets and they are always looking for
battles. (grins)

makes her burn with desire, that he looks at her with heat in his dark eyes.

This cyborg

Hoarse hasn’t

determined to change that status. He considers ulu, or doll, fabrication to be
an essential part of mate preparation. Seeking to hone his skills, he contacts
a reclusive doll maker and asks her to train him.

He doesn’t realize
the being he is sharing his deficiencies with is his destined mate.

Arlicia desires a
male whose face she has never seen. Her new trainee’s persistence, intelligence,
and curiosity warrant admiration. His deep voice evokes visions of passionate
kisses and heated embraces. His large hands cause her to quiver with wanting.

Before their
professional relationship ends, she wants to rendezvous with Hoarse. The curious
doll maker hopes for a glimpse of the huge warrior.

When a cyborg
intent on being the perfect mate meets the female who knows all his secrets,
garments are shed, illusions shatter, and beings die.

Character Updates Now Available In eBook Format

When I don’t have a new release in a month, I usually give
newsletter subscribers (you can subscribe here – http://cynthiasax.com/newsletter/
) an update on existing characters.

Characters continue living. As you read this post, they are
battling their enemies, having wild passionate sex, making babies and goofing
around. Rage is still participating in the mock battles. Joan cheers for him.
Kralj and Dita are hunting rule-breakers in the Refuge. Vietor got stuck in
another tunnel. Oops. I mean he couldn’t move. (grins) They are living their
best lives.

Some subscribers have asked for these updates in eBook format.
This is happening! The Dear Wonderful Hubby is formatting the snippets and I’m
loading them to BookFunnel. (You can see the list of updates loaded thus far

). This will take some time but I hope to eventually have all of them available.

These updates will still be newsletter subscriber exclusives.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – November 22nd

I took another week off fresh writing and spent it with some
loved ones who needed me. Family and friends first and always. That’s my motto.
It will likely mean I will have to work on weekends to meet my deadlines but loved
ones (and that includes you) are always worth it.

I invested a few minutes and set up an Extra page on my website
(you can see it here – http://cynthiasax.com/extras/
). I will eventually add the newsletter updates in eBook format to this page. Receiving
these updates requires signing up for my newsletter so they are still
newsletter subscriber exclusives. You can merely add them to your libraries and
easily re-read them now.

If you want to read the snippets as they are written, it is
best to continue reading my newsletters. Plus, that way, you won’t miss my
terrible jokes. (grins)

I’m hoping this upcoming week will see me returning to the
writing cave. I become a little unsettled if I don’t write for a long time and
I’m starting to feel that way right now. Writing is necessary for my emotional
health.

The Old Guard And Minor Characters

The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I watched The Old Guard last night on Netflix.

We both really enjoyed this movie. It was action-packed yet
emotional, had a message of finding hope in a dark world that really appealed
to me, especially in these pandemic times. I could easily relate to Andy
(played by Charlize Theron), a warrior who has seen too much and is weary of everyone’s
sh*t. (grins) Nile (played by KiKi Layne), was convincing as the brand new
addition to the team.

But the characters who stole my heart, who really made the
movie wonderful for me were Joe (played by Marwan Kenzari) and Nicky (played by
Luca Marinelli). They have a M/M romance subplot that would make any romance
reader super happy.

The declaration of love scene was one of the best I’ve ever
seen on screen. It inspires me to ramp up my own scenes. Their how-I-met story
was adorable and fresh and so very appropriate for two warriors. The brief scenes
of tenderness, the cuddles, the glances, the speaking without words, melted my
heart. There was a protectiveness in them worthy of any romance novel alpha. Their
relationship was SO well done.

I feel no shame about watching the movie mostly for them. Just
as I don’t mind it when reading buddies tell me they read Warlord’s Return for
Kralj and Dita. Every character is different and we will, of course, be drawn
to some characters more than others.

IMHO…this is one of the many reasons why storytellers include
minor characters in their stories.

Oh and if you love minor characters and would like to see more stories or shows or movies about them, tell the writers/other creators. I’ve written many extra scenes and snippets and even a novella or two because reading buddies have requested more time with certain characters.

Re-reads Before Holding Hoarse

Holding Hoarse will be releasing on December 1st.
This is a FREE cyborg romance short story unofficially set in the Cyborg Space
Exploration series and it will be distributed via BookFunnel.

Holding Hoarse is my gift to you, a thank you for reading my
other stories.

(Writing buddies reading this post, I have seen NO increase
in sales from offering more than one free story in a series. These short
stories are gifts to regular reading buddies. That’s their sole purpose.)

I’m adding a page called ‘Extras’ on my website and that
will list all the freebies. I will also be adding Holding Hoarse to the Cyborg
Space Exploration series page and I’ll be talking about the story for the
entire month of December on this blog, on Twitter and on Instagram. (grins) It will
be challenging to miss.

Holding Hoarse assumes you have read some of the longer
cyborg romances. I would recommend reading Releasing Rage at the minimum. That
story is currently FREE.

Hoarse, an ulu-fabricating C Model warrior, first appears in
Passion Surge, last year’s FREE gift. That is a great story to re-read if you
have the time. Hoarse, Relay, Surge, Nu and Weilai all both appear in Passion Surge

Throwback Thursday – The Cyborg’s Secret Baby

I heard some of those groans. (grins) Secret Baby is a love
it or hate it type of trope. Some reading buddies don’t think there is ANY good
reason for a parent to withhold the existence of a baby from the other parent(s).

But that is exactly what happened…often…during WWI and WWII.
Couples had wild, passionate going-away-to-war sex and babies happened. Communications
were spotty. Letter delivery was iffy at best. There were no accessible phones
in the middle of the battlefield. Warriors came home to children they didn’t
know they had.

The Cyborg’s Secret Baby is a nod to those Earth-based
stories and a tribute to the single Moms who raised their families alone during
those wars.

There’s no intentional withholding of information in The
Cyborg’s Secret Baby. There’s no lying or trickery. Zebrina, the strong human
heroine, has no way to contact Stealth, the cyborg hero. She worries he has
died in battle. And Stealth is prevented from contacting and finding Zebrina.

There isn’t even a true baby in this story as cyborg offspring
physically mature within one solar cycle (one year), which makes the situation
even more heart-wrenching and challenging to overcome.

The Cyborg’s Secret Baby is one of my favorite stories. If

The Cyborg’s Secret Baby

A fierce cyborg warrior and his curvy human female share a
no-longer-so-little secret.

After hearing her warrior died in battle, Zebrina focuses on
the last gift he gave her. Doing what is right for their child is her sole priority.
She will put their son’s happiness first, even if that means choosing another
male over the love of her life.

The Cyborg’s Secret Baby is a STAND-ALONE story loosely
connected to the Cyborg Sizzle series.

dark, gritty, often-violent universe.

Break The ‘Rules’ A Bit

I’m a bit of a rebel. I think many readers and writers are
this way. I don’t like rules and I don’t like expectations.

But not following the rules or guidelines right now health-wise
during a pandemic will put people in danger. The Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are
staying home as much as possible. We’re wearing masks when we go out. Only one
of us usually grocery shops. We haven’t dined in at a restaurant since
February. I haven’t seen my at-risk Awesome Mom in person in over a year.

This is necessary to save lives but it stresses my rebellious
soul.

So I rebel in other areas. Today, the Dear Wonderful Hubby and I are eating pork chops for lunch. That’s normally a dinner food for us. We made ice cream sundaes at midnight. This morning, we raked leaves in the snow, knowing that snow would melt by noon. We have pajamas days and no pants days and other themed days. I sent some of my Christmas-celebrating loved ones Christmas cards in August.

We’re having an absolute blast. These small rebellions are
adding to our fun and allowing us to do what we have to do, follow the guidelines,
to protect others.

Stay as safe as you can, my friends, but consider rebelling in small ways in other areas.
