A cherished moment from Dragon Con 2013
I'm on the LL2 level (a basement level, basically) of the Hyatt Regency with time to kill while I wait to appear on a panel in the Writer's Programming track. There are no chairs in the area outside the function rooms. So, as many a veteran SF con goer would, I sit down cross-legged on the floor with my back against the wall.
A security guard approaches me and asks to see my convention badge.
I show it to him.
Seeming surprised that I actually have one, he responds like this:
"Oh...okay. My job is to keep the homeless from camping out in here."
I guess I wasn't looking especially spiffy.
It's moments like this that make me worry that my suave 007-ish self-image may have little connection to reality.

A dream about the book biz
I very recently completed the proposal for the sequel to my urban fantasy novel BLIND GOD'S BLUFF. Last night, I dreamed the editorial committee at Night Shade Books purchased it with great enthusiasm. When I woke, I was excited for half a second. Then I remembered I don't believe in the prophetic power of dreams. Now, if the same data emerges the next time I examine a sheep's entrails, that will be cause for celebration.Meanwhile, just in case you have yet to check out the first book in the series...http://www.amazon.com/Blind-Gods-Bluff-Billy-Novels/dp/1597804436/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377432408&sr=8-1&keywords=blind+god%27s+bluff
