Challenged to a duel

I received this challenge from writer Kathy Nappier:

Richard Lee Byers! I cast the rubber chicken at your feet, sir, in challenge! Yes! You, sir!
Me! You! Face to face in Russian Roulette Sci-Fi Trivia: "Hard Boiled" Style! To be played before all the gods of Necronomicon and those who have the stoutness of heart to witness our battle. Saturday the 19th. The con suite, upon the close of the Masquerade. Do you accept, sir!

This was my response:

Madame, I accept. And may the dark elder powers that rule over such contests, Yolk Sothoth in his roost beyond space and time and Cluck Thulhu in his palace of twelve chambers, have mercy on your 'do, for rest assured that I will not.

By the way, if you don’t know about Necronomicon, where I will also be involved in panels and such as a writer guest, you can find out about it here:

For once, a note plugging a book I didn't write

Have you bought your copy of THE GODBORN by Paul S. Kemp yet? If not, why not? Don’t you know it’s the first ever Forgotten Realms/Star Wars crossover?

I mean, maybe it is.

Possibly.

For all you know.

I admit that at the authorial/editorial summits at which we planned the Sundering series, nobody said word one about crossing over with Star Wars. But on the other hand, Paul is both an acclaimed FR writer and a celebrated SW novelist. So in the words of Judy Tenuta, “It could happen!” Right?

I also admit that if you click on the link below, you won’t find anything about Star Wars in the book description. But as Groucho Marx once asked, “Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?”

Anyway, Star Wars fans, if you take a chance on the novel and are bitterly disappointed to discover there aren’t any Jedi or Ewoks in it, well, in the words of Groucho again (alluding to the possibility that the land deal he was touting might not pay off for investors), “I don’t know what you can do about it.”

But seriously, folks…

I know that all six of us novelists gave The Sundering our all, and I’ve seen nothing but rave comments on Paul’s book. I think that if you check it out (and THE COMPANIONS by R. A. Salvatore, which launched the series a couple months back), you’ll be glad you did.

John Constantine is coming to TV

John Constantine is apparently coming to TV.I try not to judge things before I actually experience them. I have to say, though, that I would be more optimistic about the show presenting Constantine and his world the way I think they ought to be presented if it were coming to, say, FX or HBO rather than your basic network. I have my doubts that NBC will go dark enough.Of course, I say this because what I would like to see is the Vertigo incarnation of the character. If my preferred version of Constantine was the New 52 version, I wouldn't have any misgivings about the show landing on NBC.http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=48129

One final post about the IMPOSTOR #2 giveaway

One more post about THE IMPOSTOR #2: THE BLOOD MACHINE, and then I swear by Azathoth, Crom, and Lathander, I will leave off relentlessly pimping this puppy for a while.

As I posted previously, my one-day giveaway was a success, with the eBook achieving these rankings on Amazon:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #1,455 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store)
#1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Fantasy > Superhero
#4 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Science Fiction > Alien Invasion

Not too shabby.

The promotion is now over. But please, come back in off the ledge. Or put down the gun, whichever is applicable. All is not lost. You can still enjoy THE IMPOSTOR #2 for a mere $2.99. Just click on the link below.

What I Learned from THE LORDS OF SALEM

Horror fan though I am, I just couldn’t go the distance with THE LORDS OF SALEM. But before I bailed on it halfway through, I learned something:

The 17th Century devil-worshipping Salem witches conducted their naked rituals covered in muck and grime. Their hair was matted and tangled. But they thoroughly shaved everything from the neck down.

All the witches in the movie were women, though, so I have no information to share on the subject of 17th Century satanic manscaping.
