Love of Humanity

by Diana McCollumI came across this poem some time ago, and really liked it. So I decided to share it with all of you. There are all kinds of love in this world to have, and to embrace. Ilchi Lee is a New York Times bestselling author. All You Need is Love: The Song by Lynn Lovegreen

I say, “All you need is love” on a regular basis. It’s one of my favorite songs, and I grew up on The Beatles. But I didn’t know how the song was written until recently. It’s a good story. John Lennon wrote “All You Need is Love” for Our World, a live satellite television broadcast between 25 countries in 1967. The BBC picked The Beatles for the British contribution to the event. The Beatles had

Libraries Are For Everyone

I know this is the month for valentines, and Black History Month. I should probably be blogging about love this month, or an African American hero. But current events have jumped in and grabbed me, turning this to a different subject.I have long been an advocate for reluctant readers. I’ve spoken at the Illinois Reading Council and the American Library Association on the subject. I believe that

Another Man's Treasure by Eleri Grace

The prompt from this month that resonated with me the most asks us to reflect on "stuff" versus "treasures," which immediately put me in mind of the phrase "one man's trash is another man's treasure." One of my goals in my Cultivate What Matters planner this year is to declutter at least one drawer or cabinet per week (okay, that's probably too ambitious and will end up being a monthly goal!).

Love is an Every Day Occurrence by Paty Jager

The optimist in me says there is love everywhere, you just have to look for it. The pessimist in me says I shouldn't have to look. It should be evident. I've never been a person to say I love you. It's my feeling that my family and those I care about know I love them by my actions. Thinking back, both my husband and I have rarely said the three words some people believe have to be said

Early spring...please?

Early last year, I got a story idea that wouldn’t leave me alone. Don’t you love / hate when that happens? The idea required me to stretch my writing wings and dabble in a new-to-me genre, but I was up to the challenge. I was also sick unto death of the global situation (you know what I’m talking about) and needed a huge distraction. And so I ventured into paranormal women’s fiction.I’ve been

Your Best Self-care Tip May Be Doing Nothing by Heather ...

Your Best Self-care Tip May Be Doing Nothing by Heather MichetWe’re at the crossroads again: a new year, new promises, new shoulds and pressures to strive higher and harder to “be more, do more and have more.”  We’re told that bigger dreams and bodacious goals get realized when we push the limit. But is this really the only way to get there?I mean seriously: Are your body and spirit deeply crying

Will we get back to normal in 2022?

2021 was a turbulent year for many, and I'm personally hoping for a much more even-keel 2022.Unable to WriteI've been writing obsessively since childhood. It's my passion. But I was taken by surprise by how my emotions so vehemently affected my output last year. I'm usually juggling multiple book projects and felt a day without writing was a day wasted. I just didn't feel in the mood to write. I
