Summer or Winter? by Lynn Lovegreen

 For me, it’s an easy choice. I’ve always loved summer. Here in southcentral Alaska, summer is lovely. The trees and plants are green, and the flowers are in bloom. We have mild temperatures and long summer days. Mild temperatures to me means shirtsleeve weather, usually in the 60s (F). If we get into the 70s, that’s pretty warm. What's the worst that could happen?

 I’m one of those people who gets an idea to try a thing and thinks ‘what’s the worst that could happen?’, but I want to try the thing, so don't worry about the potential disaster.Many (many) moons ago, I left college to be a nanny in England. Why Alaska made me appreciate winter by Paty Jager

 After my recent trip to Alaska for a graduation and wedding, I have to say I do not envy the long summer days up there. We were so messed up time-wise just because the sun didn't set until after 11 pm.
