How the last seven years taught me patience.
In February 2011 I
became a single fifty-year-old. I moved
out of the family home alone. I had no partner to go to. No infidelity had
taken place on either side, but we were
at the end of our relationship and decided to let an unhappy marriage go. I had
chronic fatigue from an undiagnosed condition, but
I knew I wanted to find love again. I wanted a partner whose eyes showed joy
when he looked

Out of the Mouth of Babe...the Blue Ox
By Robin Weaver
Okay,
this month's theme is "out of the mouths of babes." Or at least it
was when I created the first draft of this piece. I might be the only person blogging about
babes, but you know I still have to put my spin on the topic. So, I thought I’d talk about a big, big babe—Babe,
the Blue Ox.
As
a child, the legends of Paul Bunyan were my absolute favorite tails, err tales.

FIVE DIAMONDS FROM THE LAND DOWN UNDER
Hi
everyone!
It’s
great to be back at Romancing the Genres. I hope you are all well and enjoying
2018 so far.
I’m back
this month to introduce you to some of the fabulous authors we have Down Under
in Australia.
Just
last month, the Rita finalists were announced. I’m proud to say that there were
a few Aussies amongst those finalists. Aussies I know and respect when it comes
to their writing.

What Makes Me Smile?
By Linda Lovely
This month’s theme proved a delight. No research required.
All I had to do was close my eyes and think. Thankfully my list appears to be
very long. (I could have kept going, but decided I should stop before I bored
you. I could have included lots more foods!)
Sure, the list of things that make me frown is lengthy, too.
But I’m happy to report that on balance my smiles

The Seven Year Switch
Since we’re celebrating the seven year anniversary of the
Romancing the Genres blog in May, I thought I’d get in early and write an abridged or
smooshed account of the last seven years of my life.
You could say the last seven years of my life have been
pretty eventful. So much so, I can hardly remember what my day-to-day life was
like seven years ago.

When Africa Looks Like Italy
by M. L. Buchman
I had a rather surreal month last month.
1) I was in Senegal Africa visiting some people for three weeks.
2) I was in Cinque Terre, Italy, sipping wine, tasting gelato, and generally having a great time.
3) I was doing these at the same time!
Okay, we all know writer's brains are weird. So, here's a dose of silly weird.
I was actually (physically) in Italy for my first time

THE JOY OF TRAP CAMS! by Sarah Raplee
I love looking at photos and watching videos of
unsuspecting wildlife caught on my day-and-night-vision trap camera. It was after
watching my sister and brother-in-law’s videos of their visiting herd of deer
in the high desert that we got inspired to try filming on our property. They know each doe,
buck and fawn by name. He puts out corn for the animals during the winter

Corn
by Courtney Pierce
A serious case of corny humor makes me laugh. A snappy
retort or a play on words can take me down that path too. My sense of humor is . . . well . . . a bit
off from the norm. It’s why I inject a
dose of humor in all of books. Life is serious enough, so I like to think of my
stories as an escape from the traffic, fake news, and the Bickerson's on social media.
Forget that

How I Became an Aussie Romance Author by Dora Bramden
I’d been working for years as a bookkeeper and although there were elements of my job that I loved, doing maths wasn’t something I enjoyed. It never was a favorite subject for me at school either. My favorite class was art. Being creative lifted my spirits and I enjoyed myself. Because of missing a lot of school from illness, combined with being slow to learn to read, I struggled with grammar
