The Weird Things That Make Us Laugh ..... ..... by Delsora Lowe

Commercials— There are some that attract ourattention, others that speak to us, and still others that just mystify us.One that always makes me laugh AND mystifies me, isthe Kayak commercial – with a woman farmer who says if you need something done, you have to do it yourself. It’s funny and unexpected. I love her feistiness asshe stuffs her clothes with straw, marches out to the wheat field,

Paranormal Romance with Cathryn Cade

The first time I met our guest this month was years ago when I attended an RWA meeting. I wasn't familiar with Portland, OR and she offered to drive me to the change of address for the meeting. She was so kind, funny, and down-to-earth that I am humbled to call her a friend. Cathryn Cade writes steamy romance in genres from contemporary paranormal set in Hawaii, contemporary MC romance, and

My Favorite Commercial: From Achilles to Xena, Between and Beyond by Sebastian Nothwell

This Subaru advertisement from 1996 is one of myfavorites. Can you guess why?On the surface it seems simple enough. It shows a greenSubaru Forester with a kayak on the roof rack, which makes sense for a vehiclefamed for its all-wheel-drive; a practical choice for those inclined towardswilderness adventure. But a closer look

Lions & Tigers & Bears, oh my

I’ll start by saying this month’s topic does not really compute, not for me. Maybe they hit my subconscious, but for the most part, I barely remember commercials. Admittedly, an awesome book or movie trailer might stick with me for awhile. In fact mean, don’t let me get started on the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer [Whoooimboutamakeanameformyselfyea!] That one will be with me for a long time,

The Stuff of Nightmares - A Blast from the Past

This post was first published on October 13, 2020. WW2 Romance Author Eleri Grace can be counted on to write thrilling romantic stories that immerse her readers in the realities of llfe during WW2.By Eleri GraceI too don’t write horror, suspense, paranormal or another genre that might have a classic “scary scene.” I write WWIIhistorical novels – what’s scary about that?

Favorite Commercials Elephant and Heart Warming!

By Diana McCollumI think it was about 10 or 15 years ago when I started seeing an animated elephant dancing through the jungle.  The dance tune was music only and the elephant was adorable! I'll never forget the ad which was for GE, General Electric .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saZFC... next favorite commercial was from Dignity Health. There are two that come to mind. One an

My Favorite Commercial by Lynn Lovegreen

My Favorite Commercial by Lynn LovegreenThere are a lot of great commercials out there. In my opinion, the best are really creative, humorous, and/or heartwarming. Most of my faves are in the last two categories. One of my favorite commercials is a well-known one, “The Force” by Volkswagen, 2012. A Star Wars reference, cute kid, and a caring dad are the main ingredients. Here’s a link:

By Robin Weaver This month’s theme is aboutfavorite ads, but since my co-bloggers will no doubt cover this topic superbly,I’ve decided to rant about one of my least favorite ad campaigns.Specifically, Charmin.Have you seen those “Enjoy the Go”spots? If not, here’s a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ7Dt..., Charmin, do we reallywant to encourage people to linger in

Meow, meow, meow ...

This month’s suggested topic, My favourite commercial, was a tough one for me, so I took it as a challenge. You see, I watch very little commercial TV these days. Other than a news program in the early evening, the rest of my TV viewing is via various streaming services. (Though some of those are now subjecting us to ads – I’m looking at you, Prime.)To recall my favourite TV ad, I had to delve

One...Two...Three...and a pre-order

This month the theme is "My favorite commercial." At this time in my life, I dislike commercials.  After watching shows on Public Broadcasting and not having commercials interrupting the flow of the show and then streaming shows without commercials, I now get irritated with them. But as a kid, my favorite commercial was the owl and the Tootsie Pop, which around Halloween you see
