Humor isn't always funny

Hi, I’m Judith Ashley, author
of The Sacred Women’s Circle series, soul nourishing romantic women’s fiction
that honors pagan spiritual practices. My stories show you what life could be
like if you had a place like The Circle where you are unconditionally accepted,
supported and loved. And where, with this support, you do overcome obstacles and
find your happily-ever-after.

2020 First Blog

By Robin Weaver

Happy New Year,
Everyone!!

This month's theme, a
funny story about family and friends, had me stumped, until I remembered an
event from many, many Christmas's ago.

So… We exchanged gifts
at the home of my parents’ Rook partners (Rook is a card game not always know
but extremely popular in some circles). Those partners had a multitude of kids,
to include twins who were

New Year's Traditions from Around the World by Sarah Raplee

LISTEN UP, READERS! I went down the research rabbit hole and this blog post is the result. Be forewarned. (Reprinted from 2016)

Although many countries and peoples around the world celebrate New Years’ Day on January 1st (according to the Gregorian Calendar,) not every country nor every religion follows the Gregorian Calendar. Named after Pope Gregory XIII, the Gregorian Calendar was

So how's your decade been?

by M. L. Buchman

Yep, we humans like our round numbers and there's another tenner coming up in just a few days. So, I thought I'd take a moment and look backwards so that I could try to peer forwards.

2007 - the first Amazon Kindle came out (about the kajillionth entry into the e-reader market and not the best of them). The main thing that set it apart is that it was backed up by a direct

Tinkering with Candy & Romantic Suspense

(Since we have a houseful of company, this post is a duplicate (almost) of a blog I wrote a few years ago. Only I used Kahlua instead of Amaretto in this year's recipe and substituted cream cheese for the powdered sugar and corn syrup. They're all good!)

Making candy at Christmas is a family tradition. I was in
grade school, when we first added chocolate-covered cherries to our repertoire.

Christmas in Review

by M. L. Buchman

I'd give Christmas 3-stars. It opens fast and hot with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The middle drags as the excitement is dragged over the hot coals of:

"Not yet school recess" for little kids.
"Semester finals" for high school and college.
"Corporate...

Okay, I think I've killed that joke. Not what this is about anyway. So, I'll start again:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

A 100-Year-Old Gift of Poetry for You from Sarah Raplee

This is one of my favorite poems. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. ~Sarah Raplee

I
Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

I thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along th'unbroken song
Of peace

Disaster Turned Blessing

By Courtney Pierce

A bountiful and delicious Thanksgiving ushered in a
promising Christmas season. Let the games begin! Lights, wreaths, decorating, and a daily
dose of Christmas movies.

My husband, stepdaughter, and I gladly handed over the $5.00
permit fee to cut our wild Christmas tree on Montana state land. Deal of the century. There’s a
lot of shopping acreage here in the
