The Boyfriend Project

Farrah Rochon is the USA today bestselling author of numerous books that place the romance of Black characters front and center on the page. The result leaves all audiences entranced.

Until the recent RWA debacle, Farrah was a hard-working member of the board, giving back to the Romance community she has belonged to for years. Then she was hit by a one-two punch. The first blow came when

Capturing the Memories by Eleri Grace

Well, this month’s prompt
definitely presented problems. My favorite first –writing or non-writing –
experience. So many possible angles!

I wondered if I could
highlight a “first” relating to one of my hobbies: reading, travel, scrapbooking,
or genealogy research. And if you’ve been following me here, you’ve probably
noted that I like to tie my blogs into my WWII-themed

If at First you don’t
Succeed…

Twenty- two years ago, my very first book was published. I’d
been reading manuscripts (as a freelancer,) for years, and knew the series
formula. But I’d always wanted to do something different, and as a result I took a
chance to submit something that wasn’t exactly formula.

Back in the day,

My Best Memory of New Orleans

Hi, I’m Judith Ashley, author
of The Sacred Women’s Circle series, soul nourishing romantic women’s fiction
that honors pagan spiritual practices. My stories show you what life could be
like if you had a place like The Circle where you are unconditionally accepted,
supported and loved. And where, with this support, you do overcome obstacles and
find your happily-ever-after.

My first two posts

My Inspiration for "A Wife for the Orange Farmer" Short Story by Dora Bramden

Mum and I had just entered the gates at the Melbourne
International Flower and Garden show when the threatening sky started to
rumble. A few fat drops of rain turned into a downpour. Booming thunder and
flashes of lightning sent us scuttling for the nearest cover under one of the trees in the avenue on the grounds of the Royal Exhibition Building. Unnerved and
scared It was too far to the

My First Contest Win – Sort of

By Robin Weaver

When I first started writing for publication—and back when I
didn’t know that I didn’t’ know what I was doing—the leader of my newly formed Writing
Group, suggested that entering short-story contests might provide an
entrance into the writing world. Being a good little follower, I immediately
scoured the web and found three competitions. I immediately entered two with
mystery

A few firsts and a few lasts and a definite re-do...

Whoever said retirement was a time to slow down and take it easy never met me, or my long list of goals.

I was raised by two do-it-yourself parents. Mum grew up in a tiny fishing village on an island. Self-sufficiency was as much a part of her life as dried salt cod. Dad was raised on a small farm on the north shore of Nova Scotia. “Make do” and “fix it yourself” were as deeply ingrained as

Tropical Plotting is Fun by Paty Jager

I'm getting ready to head to Hawaii again. This time with a daughter and her family. She called and asked me if I'd like to go to Maui and help wrangle kids. I mean, who would pass that up! So I'm headed to a different island.

I enjoyed my trip to Kauai this past October with my husband, but I think going with 6 grandkids it will be a bit more exciting. LOL They want to hike and swim. Hubby

Twelve Pairs of Gloves

by Diana Mccollum

As I was perusing information on Leap Year, I came across some really interesting tidbits of information about this extra calendar day.

Leap Day is in February because February used to be the last month of the year.

According to an old 5th century Irish legend, St. Bridget petitioned St. Patrick to allow women to propose to men every four years. Thus balancing the
