Where Am I? Stop #1!

Contest time! I’m on tour for DEADZONE and will post my ten mystery stops. Some are easier than others (including today’s post). If you correctly guess the state, it’s worth a point. The correct city is worth another four points! At the end of ten posts, the person with the most points wins a galley copy of THE TRAITOR’S GAME!

I will edit your answer out of comments so that no one copies your answer, but that will let you know that I’ve seen it.

With the launch of DEADZONE (HORIZON, Book 2) on Tuesday, I’m about to head out on tour. Some of my events are public and posted HERE, but some are not. So I think we should have a game, and the prize is BIG!

Today, I’ll introduce you to one of my favorite characters, Javi. You’ll know he’s one of my favorites because in DEADZONE, he gets some of the best lines and one of my favorite ever scenes in a book I’ve written – one that involves a test with invisibility that goes horribly wrong.

Among his other traits, Javi is always hungry, and craving any kind of food that he won’t get out in the…well, wherever the survivors are.

My question for you is, if you were lost in some strange place with little to eat but an occasional downed bird, berries, and whatever else you can scavenge, what food would you miss most?

For me, it’s gotta be chocolate. Some people say you don’t need chocolate to stay alive, but I disagree.

It’s week 4. Two weeks ago, I told you about Molly, the leader of the crash survivors. Now meet Yoshi, the rebel. He’s being shipped back to his father in Japan where he’s already in a ton of trouble for having stolen (borrowed?) a 17th Century sword from the country. Yoshi has no interest in teamwork or making friends. He only wants to get out of…wherever it is they are. But the team definitely needs him, and that sword.

This week’s question is: What would you do and why?

Stay with the plane. Maybe rescuers know where we are. Hopefully we don’t run out of food before they get here.
Explore the area. Nobody knows we’re alive, so we must save ourselves. But there are a lot of unknowns ahead of us, and no guarantees everyone survives.
Split the team. If rescuers come, or if they don’t, we have a chance. Unless splitting the team makes us too weak to survive either scenario.
