Building up Steam!

With less than a month to go before the olympics begin, Marvin van Lemon is frantically visiting schools all over the Toronto area.   The goal is to get kids motivated to learn about as many of the winter sports as they can before the games start on February 12.   Following the torch around Ontario was a great experience and I made many new friends, the response to an 8 foot lemon walking around the streets has been fantanstic and it will be fun sorting through the many photos people send of...

Making the News

Big news today for Marvin van Lemon today as I was featured in a story in the sports section of the Waterloo Record.  Check out this link http://news.therecord.com/Sports/article/647960  Marvin will definitely be heading to Kitchener, Waterloo to celebrate the arrival of the olympic torch.  Was also able to take in the Torch ceremony in Toronto despite the freezing cold weather and protests that delayed the torch by more than an hour.  Special thanks to musical director of the Garden Games...

Marvin van Lemon’s Trip out west

Great to be back in Toronto but I had a great time at the photo shoots in Calgary and Edmonton.  Got to check out some beautiful scenary as well in Banff, plus the Edmonton mall is definitely a great place to get some Christmas shopping done!  Marvin was also able to take in an Oilers game so that was nice and I hope you were able to catch the radio show on sunday morning on the fan 590.  Have another radio interview tomorrow morning in Albany so hopefully my friends there will get a chance to listen to the Don Weeks Morning Show, WGY, Albany, NY.  Netx big stop will be Toronto when the olympic flame hit my home town.  See you there sprouts!!

Marvin van Lemon Holds Olympic Torch in Halifax!

Today was so far the highlight of the build up to the olympic games for me.  Not only did I get to read my book to 4 fantastic school in Halifax (Oxford, st Catherine's, Halifax independent and Le Marchant St Thomas) but I acutally got to hold the olympic torch!  That very same day none other than Sidney Crosby also passed on the torch (although he was surrounded by many more fans).  Another super week, can't wait to for the next stop on tour in Calgary and Edmonton.

Marvin Heads To The Big Apple

Hey Folks,

Just got back from a trip to the big apple New York City.  Was absolutely amazed at the warm response the people in Times Square had for Marvin van Lemon.  Many wanted to take pictures with me!  Funny thing is that many people did not even look twice as if it was normal for an 8 foot lemon to be walking around town.   Only in New York!!  Check out the pictures and update on youtube of the action.  Also was able to get another book reading.  Was quite impressed about how much...

Winona Public School Reading

What a nice bunch of children I met today.  I really feel like Marvin van Lemon made lots of new friends at Winona Public School.  The grade 2 and 3 classes were so interested in the many sports of the winter games.  The biathlon was a new one that really seemed to peak their interest as was the way Freestyle skiiers train in a pool before they hit the slopes.   The kindergarden classes were absolutely adoreable and Ms. Hopkins sang a beautiful rendition of the "Olympics" song.  Next it's...

Marvin van Lemon’s 2nd Book Reading

Today was another great day to be a giant lemon.  To hear kids ask when is Marvin coming to see us was espcially nice and made me feel good beacause that means they are interested in what I have to say.  The kids seemed to like my new book and were particularly interested in my friend Helen the Melon who is great at biathlon.  Again this could not have been possible without an amazing staff.  Set up by my good friend Mrs. Zister and the fantastic librarian Mrs. Nelson, I was able to share my story Champions of the Garden Games with the kindergarden to grade 3 classes at Queen Mary elementary school in Hamilton, Ontario.  Looking forward to my next reading in Winona, but for now its time to take a break and party with my friends to celebrate my new book release.  See you on Monday, and don’t forget to watch hockey night in Canada this weekend.
