Crowdfunding for my small press

Picture For those of you who don't know, I'm one of the founders of Thinking Ink Press. We're small: we publish one or two books a year.
Recently, I ran a Kickstarter campaign for a funny sci fi book by a new author that we're planning to publish. It went really well, so we're set to move forward with publishing The Hereafter Bytes by Vincent Scott.

Collaborating on writing projects

Picture Photo by Tyler Nix on Unsplash Thinking about working on a joint writing project or maybe even co-authoring a book?
I co-authored my last three books. The experience can be wonderful if you're sure it's what you want. Check out my guest blog postCollaborating and Co-authoring at the lovely book review site, Armed with a Book.
P.S. If you enjoy reading challenges, check out their Armed with a Bingo event!

Are you a good writer or a bad writer?

Picture That's an interesting question, and one that led me to start listening to The Bad Writer's Podcast, hosted by Rebecca Fisher. Among other things, Rebecca likes to talk about when writers break rules and why. Is that being a bad writer? Or are there times when it's the right thing to do?
Rebecca was kind enough to have me as a guest on The Bad Writer's Podcast, Episode 10. In the first part of this episode, we learn that Rebecca loves animals and takes care of stray cats. My interview starts about 10...

My Office Helper

Picture Just for fun, here's a picture of Mittens who often hangs out in a patch of sunshine in my home office. Sometimes if I get up and come back, I'll find that she's made herself at home in my office chair.

International Hip Dysplasia Institute Guest Post

I just started reviewing books about hip dysplasia for the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IDHI). There are quite a few  now, which makes me happy! When I wrote The Parents' Guide to Hip Dysplasia I couldn't find any books—just medical journal articles.
My first book review is for Hope, the "Hip" Hippo by Gina Jay and Julie Beattie, illustrated by Cheri Turner. You can my book review here. Picture For those of you who don't already know, I'm on the Advisory Committee for the IDHI, which i...
