Sara Wilson Etienne's "Harbinger" is released today

I had the pleasure to contribute a painting to celebrate the release of Sara Wilson Etienne's amazing debut YA novel "Harbinger".



25 incredible illustrators and artists have picked their favorite scenes and characters from HARBINGER to celebrate the release of the book. Each week, in the gallery at the Holbrook Academy website, a new illustration is unlocked. On March 3rd, all twenty-five illustrations will be shown at the Hive Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. Here is the piece I painted:

"3 Wünsche" von Petra Oelker - Bilder von der Lesung

Nach einer großartigen Lesung von Petra Oelker haben wir uns die Finger wund signiert und danach über die Entstehung der Bilder gesprochen und viele interessante Fragen beantwortet. Meine Lieblingsfrage war, ob die zukünftigen Bücher von Frau Oelker nun auch illustriert werden. Ich sage ja bitte!

After a fantastic reading by Petra Oelker we signed till there were no more books and then talked about developing the ideas and doing the research for the paintings. Of course we also answered many interesting questions, my favorite being if the future books of Petra Oelker will also be illustrated. I say yes!

"3 Wünsche" von Petra Oelker - Lesung mit Bildern am 04.12.

Dieses Jahr hatte ich die Gelegenheit, eine wunderbare Weihnachtsgeschichte von Petra Oelker für den Kindler-Verlag zu illustrieren.

Die Geschichte spielt in Hamburg um 1773, und für die Recherchen durfte ich neben einem langen Besuch im Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte auch auf Frau Oelkers Wissensschatz (und ihre Archiv) zurückgreifen. Es war ein grossartiger Streifzug durch die Geschichte Hamburgs und des Hamburger Doms, und ich kann das Büchlein als Lektüre zwischen den Jahren nur empfehlen!





Das Buch ist ab sofort im Buchhandel erhältlich, und Frau Oelker wird am 04.12. um 18:30 im neu eröffneten Hachez Chocoversum in der Speicherstadt in Hamburg daraus vorlesen. This year I had the opportunity to learn quite a bit about the history of Hamburg around 1773 when I was illustrating the beautiful little christmas novel "3 Wünsche" by Petra Oelker for the Kindler publishing house, available in stores and online now.

The Midnight Zoo

I just received my first copy of "The Midnight Zoo", written by ALMA-Award-winner Sonya Hartnett, scheduled to be in stores September 13. I was so honored to be asked to illustrate this beautiful novel! For more information please go to Candlewick Press.
