Myth, 93
~ Angels And Demons Are Eternal ~
Myth ~ Angels and demons are eternal without beginning or end. If true, this would give them somewhat equality with God. Scripture ~ “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away” (Psalm 148:1-6). “For by Him [Jesus Christ] all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16-18).~ Robert Lloyd Russell, ABUNDANT LIFE NOW blog.

Fear God, 215
~ Lessons From Proverbs 21 ~
God does not want His children living in fear. “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:2-3). However, God does want His children to have a proper respect and reverence for Him. We are told in many places in Scripture to “fear God.”
This Week’s Passage ~ “My son, if you receive my [wisdom] words [1], and treasure my commands within you [2], so that you incline your ear to wisdom [3], and apply your heart to understanding [4]; yes, if you cry out for discernment [5], and lift up your voice for understanding [6], if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures [7]; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice,equity and every good path” (Proverbs 2:1-9).
Important Points ~ There are a number of important points in this short passage including, but not limited to:
[1] You cannot receive God’s Word if you are not reading and studying God’s written Word the Bible.
[2] Allow the Word of God to penetrate your thinking, conscience, and action.
[3] Really listen to the wisdom from above.
[4] The goal is application. How can you apply what you are learning?
[5] Spend time alone with God in prayer seeking His guidance.
[6] Be specific in asking God for direction in specific situations you face.
[7] Be observant of how God is directing and working.
Summary ~ Seek wisdom! That is seek God’s face and His direction in all of your life’s activities.
Fearing God Results in Salvation ~ “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31). “A wise person fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self-confident” (Proverbs 14:16). This does not mean the Christian is to live a fearful life—but a life which reverences God and seeks to do His will.
Fearing God Results in Fearlessness ~ “The Lordis my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lordis the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1). The answer is: only God. With the gift of salvation comes responsibility.
Fearing God Results in Witnessing ~ “Come and hear, all you who fear God,and I will declare what He has done for my soul” (Psalm 66:16).

3 Blessings
~ 3 Great Blessings of John 10:9 ~
Prolog ~ If you are a true believer in Jesus Christ you have these three tremendous blessings—and many more!
Salvation ~ Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. ‘I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep’” (John 10:9-11).
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Freedom ~ Jesus said, “I am the door.
“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:22-23). “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach” (Hebrews 13:12-13).
Sustenance ~ Jesus said, “I am the door.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake” (Psalm 23:1-3).
Epilog ~ This passage of Scripture (John 10:10-11) is the theme verse of the Abundant Life Now blog.

God Our Rock, 9
~ God Is The Only Rock ~
Introduction ~ In Matthew 7:24-27 and Luke 6:47-49 Jesus relates the importance of building your house upon rock rather than sand. This principle is even more critical when it comes to our spiritual life. Each post in this series looks at a different Biblical passage which refers to our God as a Rock (not a complete list).
Scripture ~ “For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places” (2 Samuel 22:32-34).

Spiritual Gifts, 16
~ The Spiritual Gift of Helps ~
Opening Comment ~ “Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures” (James 1:16-18).
Serving Gifts ~ Within the Service Sector we compare the Spiritual Gift of Serving with non-profit organizations in society. The Gift of Going / Mercy is likened to Missionaries, while the Gift of Helps could be likened to food banks and similar organizations.
Definition ~ “The God-given ability to see tasks and to do them for or withsomeone in order to lift external burdens” –Pastor Loren Fischer
Scripture ~ “Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues” (1 Corinthians 12:27-29).
“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness” (Romans 12:6-8).
Examples ~ In today’s world this includes kitchen workers (cooking, baking, etc.) for others. It includes sewing as a ministry for others. Ushering for the body of Christ is a help spiritual gift, as is setting up chairs and tables. Providing transportation for others certainly falls into this category.
Biblical Example ~ “At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them” (Acts 9:36-39).
Traits ~ Those with the gift of helps typically, 1) enjoy working on a job (but may expect to be told exactly what the task requires), 2) sometimes find it difficult to stick with a long project without frequent encouragement, 3) tend to prefer routine duties where the responsibility is clearly specified, 4) take orders well and support projects (but seldom assume leadership), and 5) do things without help (but often finds it difficult to accept from others).
Closing Comments ~ “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you” (1 Timothy 4:12-16).
“Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:6-7).
“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10).

Question – Jesus, 87
~ Regarding Obedience ~
Introduction ~ This series is about questions involving Jesus. Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth. Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others. We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts). Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.
Scripture ~ "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great” (Luke 6:46-49).

Who Is This?
~ What Is YourAnswer? ~
Scripture ~ “So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” Hosanna in the highest!’
“And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, ‘Who is this?’ So the multitudes said, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee’” (Matthew 21:6-11).
Significance ~ This is the most important question of all time! Men and women have given many answers over the following centuries. Some have said: “He was a great teacher.” “He was a wise man.” Some have said “He was a fraud.”
The most important thing any individual, including you, can do while on earth is to answer this question correctly and then act upon that answer.
Jesus was not only a prophet, but a priest, and a king. Most importantly He is the only Savior for mankind.
Jesus said, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [on the Cross], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God” (John 3:14-21).
the key question: “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!

Myth, 92
~ Astronomy Denies The Existence Of God ~
Background ~ Galileo was, and still today, is considered to be one of the most brilliant minds of his era. For example, using a telescope in 1610 he was the first to observe both the mountainous nature of the moon’s surface and the enormous number of stars in our Milky Way Galaxy.
Consequences ~ Galileo and his scientific peers work have eventually led to many scientists coming to agreement that real truth includes both physical and spiritual realities.
Quotes ~ Dr. Robert John Russell (no relation to this author) has written, “As in bridge building, each community, the religious and the scientific, must find bedrock in its own world, yet each must venture out toward the other, hoping that one day the two will meet at the keystone.”
Werner Heisenberg, who is considered the father of Quantum Physics, remarked: “The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences may make you an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass, God is waiting for you.”
Scripture ~ “Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth’; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:14-18).
“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:3-5).

Christian Certainty
~ Certainty (not doubt) Is The Normal Christian Position ~
What Christians Are ~ “For the message of the Cross is … to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). “I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake” (1 John 2:12).
What Christians Know ~ “We know that we have passed from death to life” (1 John 3:14a). “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us” (1 John 3:24). “This is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son” (1 John 5:11). “We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one” (1 John 5:19).
What Christians Have ~ “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7). “Be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma” (Ephesians 5:1-2). “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren” (1 John 3:14a).
What Christians Expect ~ “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” (1 John 4:16).
Blessed Assurance ~ Consider the great Christian hymn:
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
O what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood
Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blessed
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
Closing Question ~ To you have this Blessed Assurance? If not, why not? You can have complete confidence in the One who died on your behalf as payment for your sins!

Bible Answer, 83
~ Did You Get It Right? ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~ bible answer ~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
question: Who served in an emergency as a barber?
answer: Hanum
“It happened after this that Nahash the king of the people of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his place. Then David said, ‘I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.’ So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And David’s servants came to Hanun in the land of the people of Ammon to comfort him. And the princes of the people of Ammon said to Hanun, ‘Do you think that David really honors your father because he has sent comforters to you? Did his servants not come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?’ Therefore Hanun took David’s servants, shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle, at their buttocks, and sent them away. Then some went and told David about the men; and he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, ‘Wait at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return’” (1 Chronicles 19:1-5).
