Elevate Your Expertise with a Short Bo

Series 1 of 4 (Why short books), Post 2 of 4 (Demonstrate Expertise)

Have you ever had to listen to a speaker who droned on and took forever to get to the point?

After having to stay awake through that, did you consider that person an expert on their topic?

Probably not. Why? Because they didn’t get to the point, and they filled their time slot with irrelevant fluff.

Well, that’s how some long books read. But a well-written short book doesn’t give you enough room to fill it with fluff. You have to follow Sgt. Joe Friday’s mantra: Just the facts, ma’am.

When you do that, your short book not only demonstrates your expertise, but it also demonstrates your ability to communicate your expertise well.

And in today's crowded marketplace, that makes you stand out from the competition and establish yourself as a trusted authority in your industry.

Writing a short book requires focus, so you are forced to communicate what you do and how you do it in a concise manner. When you do this well, you provide your readers (ideal clients) with practical tips and solutions on a narrowly focused challenge (related to a bigger problem) that they can apply in real-time. This leads them to seek you out to gain access to your expertise to solve their larger issue.

Additionally, a short book can establish you as a thought leader in your industry. By sharing your unique perspectives and insights, you can demonstrate your understanding of the latest trends and best practices in your field and showcase your ability to provide innovative solutions to the challenges that your clients face.

Of course, none of this takes place if your book isn’t read, which is a problem that longer books often face. A short book, that can be read quickly, can build credibility, and provide you with a competitive advantage. By demonstrating your expertise and succinctly showcasing your unique insights and solutions to a specific problem you help your clients solve, you can position yourself as the go-to expert in your field, which can ultimately lead to increased business opportunities and growth.

Now that you know that you can use a short book to attract ideal clients (yesterday’s post) and showcase your expertise on a specific problem (today’s post), we can move on to how short books can help you establish authority. I’ll be covering that tomorrow, so stay tuned!
