Blog love
I just spotted this
nice little writeup
of Zombocalypse Now on a blog called Vamps R Us. Apparentyly, zombies R them occasionally as well, because they sure seemed to get a kick out of the book:
Thanks, Lily! And if you like sexy paranormal vampire fun, be sure to check the blog out (it warned me that I might be exposed to adult situations when I first showed up, but it that did not deter me).
Do you remember the "choose your own adventure" books from way, way back in the day? Those books that let you have a hand in the fate of the hero/heroine of the story, all by choosing which paths he or she takes. If the thought of these fantastic childhood pleasures makes you sentimental, you are so in luck. I've just learned of the most awesome choose your own adventure of all time.
Oh, that's right. It's a zombie choose your own adventure. With 112 different possible endings! At least 7 of which guarantee you won't die! And who are the "you" in this equation? You are a are an adorable, stuffed pink bunny with murderous intentions and a healthy aura of kick-ass.
Thanks, Lily! And if you like sexy paranormal vampire fun, be sure to check the blog out (it warned me that I might be exposed to adult situations when I first showed up, but it that did not deter me).

They might be teaching your children SCIENCE
I haven't written a Favorite Thing Ever post in a few weeks, so I was overdue for this one, which chronicles my discovery of a
TMBG kids' album about science
. I've been blogging (almost) weekly over at ftE for more than 6 months now, so most of my own low-hanging fruit has already been picked, and sometimes I have to think pretty hard to come up with something joyful to write about. But yesterday I remembered a They Might Be Giants video I saw on YouTube that I absolutely adored, so I went to explore and got to write this up right at the moment I was actively falling in love with it.
Sitting down and really examining something that makes you happy is its own kind of happiness, my friends. EVERYBODY should do this, every day, forever.

Is Google the future of eBooks?
As I've mentioned, I love my Kindle (I really do), but I'm not crazy in love with the Kindle store. I went to download a book the other day, and and it seriously took me like fifteen minutes to pull the trigger. The problem wasn't the $9.99 I was paying -- I would have gladly paid more for a physical copy. The problem was that if I pay ten bucks for something I want it to me be mine. I don't want it to be locked in some device that I may or may not still have in two years' time. And I don't want to be forced to buy another Kindle when it's time to upgrade because I've got hundreds of dollars worth of books tied to my Amazon account. Granted, Amazon eases the pain by offering kindle software for PCs and smartphones, so it's not like if the thing breaks I'm out of options. Still, it's the principle of the thing...

Kindle Lending Club looks kind of great
I discovered the
Kindle Lending Club
just this Saturday when I was googling the title of my own book (what? you do it) and saw that somebody on the KLC twitter feed was asking about Zombocalypse Now. My first instinct, of course, was to start a fake twitter account so I could answer back about how awesome it is and score the $2.99 ebook sale (ka-ching). Cooler heads prevailed on that one. But the idea of a Kindle lending club did intrigue me, so I looked into it...

Zombocalypse Now is now $2.99 at the Kindle store! If you got a brand new Kindle for Christmas (and they're down to $139, so I know a bunch of you did), you know what to do. Of course, everyone else can get the free Kindle reader for their PC or smartphone (which is how I've [...]

Comics for a dollar? I say HELL YES.
In which I discover that comics publishers released a bunch of $1 first-issue reprints last year. (from Favorite Thing Ever)

Website redesign, yo
Over the weekend I'll be completely rebuilding this site from the ground up (well, okay, I'll be changing my wordpress theme, and dealing with all the CSS havoc that ensues). Because my enthusiasm for such projects greatly outweighs my patience or my actual web design skills, I plan on doing most of it in realtime, [...]

AWWWWW YES. Welcome to the new Chooseomatic Books
I spent all weekend carefully tweaking the new site theme (via the tried and true method of bashing my face against various bits of CSS until bloody), and am now pretty damn pleased with the results. Granted, It's still not displaying at 100% in every browser (sidebars pushed way out to the side in some [...]
