Adult Beverage: Orange & Black Congrats Ale
Alas, the Giants lost today. But that's no reason not to enjoy a World Champions commemorative beer, right? Moylan's Orange & Black Congrats Ale is a "smooth, American black ale brewed with orange zest." And the lineup sounds promising. Or should I fear the beer(d)?
Pours mahogany with a two-finger tan head. An orange mocha on the nose: orange oil, rich coffee, and dark chocolate. Tastes just like it smells. Malty-sweet, toasty. Sweet roast coffee with a touch of carbonation. Very creamy, like a black ale Creamsicle. Lighter than it looks. Bitter orange aftertaste. Damn good. Beer the feared!

Adult Beverage: Double Jack Double IPA
As promised last weekend, I'm delving a little deeper into Firestone Walker Brewing Company's catalog. Tonight, from the Proprietors Reserve Series: Double Jack.
Double Jack pours red-gold with a massive, clumpy head. Bright on the nose: floral hops and grapefruit. Taste delivers on smell's promise: grapefruit and hops up front. Candied malt and sticky caramel dance on the tongue. Fruity finish, with a nice alcohol burn and lasting bitterness. An excellent upgrade.

Adult Beverage: Casey Jones Imperial India Pale Ale
From Iron springs Pub and Brewery right down the hill in Fairfax. Casey Jones promises to be "a well balanced, well hopped double India pale ale: an homage to the O. L. G." There's an awesome dog on the label. 'Nuff said.
Casey Jones pours cloudy amber with a finger-thick seafoam head. Great nose: sticky pine and citrus peel. Caramel on the tongue. Dry grapefruit. Sweet and malty with a nice, prolonged top-of-palate bitterness on finish. Not as overtly aggressive as many California IPAs, but don't be fooled; this dog has bite. Substantial. Well balanced, indeed.
