Revisiting The Old Hag

Last night I re-edited, re-titled and re-covered my book originally called ‘Riding the Old Hag’. I thought that an excellent title by the way but….. maybe not. So now it has the title – Basic Instinct: Erotic Paranormal Contact – The Old Hag and the Mysterious World of Sleep Paralysis. The content remains the same but this book didn’t seem to get the attention that it deserved.

[image error]You see, after a life time of paranormal activity and as a result of my clairvoyance and magical training, I slowly came to a startling conclusion. I had long had my suspicions and throughout all of my paranormal books, I will comment on the nature of reality. However, when researching the black-eyed kids and trying to explain whet they were, I started to understand that there are entities – parasitic entities – that feed on our energy – fear, sex, anxiety etc. Long known about in magic circles by one name or another, I can even explain how some of them become what they are. Anyway, a train ride to Germany in a sleeper a few years ago and an Old Hag experience on that train was the catalyst to bring all of these strands together into what became “Riding the Old Hag” – now renamed…

I think I fell into the trap that sex sells so push the book that way. Whereas, the book is really about these parasitic entities and how they plague humanity. We call them The Old Hag amongst other names. They feed on your fear and base emotions and you help to create and sustain them through your thoughts, desires and emotions…..

My plan when I wrote this book was to write another expounding on my theory. However, the book didn’t sell so I gave up on it. Now though, I think I will write that book…….

Give it a try – Basic Instinct: Erotic Paranormal Contact – The Old Hag and the Mysterious World of Sleep Paralysis

A new Kindle version is out, a new paperback version will follow and there is also an audiobook that I cannot change the title etc. but it is the same book.

An Amazon #1

It has been a while since I felt that little thrill you get when Amazon places that small but oh so important icon next to your book image – Best Seller!!! But, it has happened again! Chasing the Shaman, my latest book, is (as of writing) #1 in new releases in Gaia Religions category! I’m very pleased and hope that it gets some attention now via the Amazon engine.

For me, this is yet another bit of magic that proves the magic that I wrote about in the book….. And, if you have read my recent blog posts, you will know that the ‘magic’ continues…

I’m now hoping to see a review or two (and hoping they are positive).

Meanwhile, to buy the book in Kindle or paperback form, please go here.

Older Guy

[image error]There comes a point in time

When fashion doesn’t matter

When music becomes a grating clatter

When those old bones protest

It hits you like a wall of bricks

That you no longer can attract the chicks

I’m an older guy

Supposed to be refined

And attractive in my way

But I find I sigh

And say I dunno

What become of me

These days I’d rather sleep than dance

I’d rather stay in than get out

Tired by ten I don’t doubt

I dream of places I once was

And faces of those I knew

Rather than looking forward to anything new

I’m an older guy

That hint of sophistication

Grows gray at my temple

No matter how hard I try

I see my face breaking down

With the cracks of age

And yet I am now laid back

A growing sense of calm and decorum

Critics? I can just ignore them

No longer feel the need to impress

I’m established, accomplished too

And nothing remains taboo

I’m an older guy

And I know my own mind

I’m comfortable in my skin

My expertise in short supply

I can finally relax and play

The game I want my way

Hunting Fire Dragons in Moravia

I’d read a rumor about a fire breathing dragon that flew around the Castle of Drahotuš near Olomouc. I’m sorry but I can’t resist investigating such rumors. So today, I and a friend set off to the Hell valley looking for the ruins of an old Castle and to see if we could find the dragon.

We drove the 1 hour 20 minute trip from Brno in beautiful weather eventually arriving at Podhoři around noon. Then began the search for the Castle as it didn’t appear to be signposted at all. In the end, we asked a villager who gave us a circular route to get there and back. Hrad Drahotuš isn’t very well know to tell you the truth. It hasn’t been well preserved unlike its nearby rival Helfštejn so it’s a bit off the beaten track. Even better!

The Castle was founded by one Bohuš of Drahotuš sometime before 1269. The Lords of Drahotuš belonged to the families of the Lords of Čeblovice and they held the castle until 1371, then moved to the Opava region. Margrave Jan Jindřich and then his son Jošt, received the castle from them. It then passed through several hands before ending up desolate in 1543. There are a number of interesting stories about ghosts, secret tunnels, owners being forced to destroy part of the castle and so on but the one that intrigued me was about the fire breathing dragon. Today, the castle is little more than a few ruins overgrown by the forest at the top of an escarpment with amazing views. However, once in the past, it must have been quite a sight.

We set off for the Castle following the river Jezernice up the valley by the Czech name of Peklo up to v Pekla. So repeating that in English – we followed the river up the Hell valley to ‘In Hell’. I must say, it looked nothing like Hell to me being a V-shaped valley with outcrops of slates on both sides and a small river running down it. It seemed more like heaven actually through which a representation of Živa Herself traveled.

On reaching v Pekla, the path takes a turn up the steep side of the hill and it is quite a climb to the top that is for sure. Along the way, we passed numerous slate outcrops, often covered in mosses and two natural springs – always a good sign when hunting Earth energies. Once on top, we were soon treated to magnificent views as well as a cooling rain shower that came as if from nowhere and left as suddenly.

[image error] [image error] [image error] [image error] [image error]

After a few kilometers, we finally reached the ruins of the Castle where we ate our sandwiches in the sunshine before exploring. I discovered a more or less north-south energy line running through the Castle with my rods but they kept telling me any energy vortex was to be found further up the ridge to the north.

[image error] [image error] [image error] [image error] [image error]

So we continued to scramble up the ridge following periodic checks on direction with one of my rods. It was quite steep and difficult going in places so, after sitting for a rest and to take in some more amazing views of the Hell valley, my friend asked me how much further. I was in the process of saying just further I guess when we both noticed my rod was now pointing back the way we came. It took a couple more minutes to find the energy vortex with the rods in a grassy glade between several large trees where we sat and meditated for a while. It wasn’t hugely strong but it was there. Was this the fire breathing dragon of the legend? Perhaps, we will never know but such energy vortices are often referred to as serpents or dragons and they have a fibonacci shape to them like a curling serpent.

After sitting there a while, we began a careful descent down the mountain and I have to tell you that this killed my legs….. It was harder than climbing even if my breathing was less labored.

On the way down, we passed the 17th Century bridge and also the village church dedicated to Saint Havel, which looked like it deserved a visit but was closed. Some other time. It had been a good day and a drive home awaited us. At home, I found this reconstruction of how the castle may have once looked…

It’s a shame so little of it is left now and that it is more or less forgotten.

The Lesson of Sam White

[image error]After having quite a few successful books out – all in the supernatural category. I put out a beautiful set of fictional short stories on a metaphysical theme. I had it professionally edited. I released it under what I thought was a pretty good title with a lovely looking cover….

The Pink Bus and Other Strange Tales from LaLa Land……

It sort of died. I couldn’t believe it. It was my favorite work and some of the stories I had thought were really quite good. I recall the editor – who I tremendously respect as a write in her own right (Alienora Taylor) told me she loved it. But despite free give aways, discounts and so on, it barely sold…. just 40 copies in 6 months with 98 free copies given away. I also had an audio version made featuring the vocal talents of Lorraine Ansell – it has sold to date just 22 copies.

I was devastated.

I couldn’t figure out. What was wrong with the book? Was it the title perhaps? The cover? How could we find out?

My then publicist, Nick Wale and I discussed this at length. Finally, he had an idea. Put out the same book but use a new cover, new title and even a different author name. By putting the book out under a Nom de Plume, we would get a neutral view of how the book did.

And so, Sam White was born……

His Amazon profile features a picture of me walking with my young daughter and has the following description to give him a bit of credibility…

[image error]Sam White is an eternal asker of questions. He spent several years working in the world of corporate business — but found that the lifestyle was not for him. Looking for the true meaning of life he took a trip to India and studied Transcendental Meditation. With the help of his teachers he has started to unravel the great wonders of life, and death.

Cool huh?

So we republished the kindle book as Will we Meet Again: Mysteries of the Unexplained by Sam White with the following description – Imagine one day you wake up, and you discover that you are dead. You now possess knowledge that few know. You know what happens when we pass from this existence, to the next. But what comes next? Do you spend eternity roaming the Earth looking for peace? Does peace come to you easily? What happens?

And guess what? Yes, you probably guessed right. It sold much better. 76 copies with even a more successful give away of 199 copies.

The final numbers from all sources are as of today… Pink Bus moved 161 copies while Sam managed 255 copies!

Even worse or better I guess depending on how you look at, the reviews that Sam got were great – I didn’t get a single review. Here are Sam’s

4-star review – This was a very thought provoking read. The stories are written as fictional pieces but I can’t help but think that the author has uncovered some of life’s mysteries, and has given us clues to what those are within these passages. If you’re one who ponders abstract concepts such as the metaphysical, vibrational energy, the sprit world, or just occasionally wonders about the unknown, this book will give you more thoughts to consider, and may challenge you to dig a little deeper on your own journey through life.

5-star review – A lovely book anything that can bring a little comfort and a little peace is good in my book

So what did I learn? I have no idea! Was it the name of the book, the cover, the author? All three? But now, I am wondering what to do. Do I kill Sam White? Do I change the cover and title of the book under my own name? Do I use Sam White as a Nom de plume going forward?

What do you think??? I would love your opinions…. comment or send me an email and let me know your vote please….

The Trigger for Chasing the Shaman

The idea fr my new book – Chasing the Shaman – a sort of follow on to my very first book – Inner Journeys – came from a startling and accidental meet up with a real live shaman here in Brno. Unfortunately, that first time when he scared me in an out of the way seating area beneath the Castle here, I didn’t have the guts to ask him what he was doing and why? And perhaps, more importantly, would he please teach me! I know some people will simply think I have a strong imagination – I do! – but I have been watching for signs of this guy for two Moons now – yes, Moons. He is constantly working with is stones and other objects in plain sight yet no one seems to notice – except me.

Take a look at these….

The Castle at Dusk

In recent weeks, I find that being outdoors in nature is where I want to be. The sound of bird’s singing, the bats flying around, the trees… I find it all so intoxicatingly beautiful. The feeling it gives me is indescribable and yet, I am greedy for more. My favorite time is dusk and so I will slip out and take the 2km walk around the castle. I even have a favorite tree – a huge conker tree – that I will stop, touch and talk with for a while. I ask my tree some questions and tell it my troubles – whatever they are. Trees are such good listeners!

[image error]Last night, it was truly magnificent timing as the Sun began to set. The sky was streaked with all colors of pink and red reflected in the clouds and when you can get the silhouette of the trees against that sky – the image is truly marvelous.

Walking through the trees I feel safe. Home. Grounded. Secure.

It struck me that this feeling is new. At least as it relates to this place. I always had that feeling at home – especially in more remote places like the north York Moors, the Wolds, the deserted beaches towards spurn point, the west coast of Scotland and in particular, on the Island of Eigg. I even felt that awe and feeling of belonging in Texas under that huge starlit sky, out in California watching the Pacific ocean and especially in the Arizona desert. But here, in the Czech Republic? It is a new sensation. I feel like I am home and that is a new feeling. How I got there is explained in Chasing the Shaman – and I am still chasing him. Before walking up onto the Castle grounds yesterday, I took out my rods and realised that his stone markings seem to have an energy line between them – but it does not extend beyond his two markers. I would still love to meet him as I have so many questions for him….[image error]

Meanwhile, I bask in the beauty of nature. I look forward to the weekend when I can get out of the city and away to a more deserted place there to wander in search of the nature spirits or elementals. Perhaps, one day, I will not return as I will have met a beautiful Sylph or mermaid or Rusalki – the female water spirits who come out of the water in the spring to transfer life-giving moisture to the fields and help nurture the crops. She will welcome me, seduce me in a way and take me with her to another land…. a place where the Gods and Goddesses walk and where time no longer exists.

It wouldn’t at all surprise me if that were to happen.

Not at all.

Lockdown Blues

I spent these last month’s in a forced isolation

Learning another way to live

I didn’t really miss you all to tell the truth

It was a joy to walk in silence in nature

To hear the sound of birds singing

Or the bees humming

I didn’t miss your litter

Nor your drunken screams and shouts

At two in the morning

Leaving the pub or disco club

I didn’t miss the traffic jams

And impatient toots of horns

I didn’t miss your hissy fits

Nor your selfish behavior

Spring happened and for once

It felt like it must have done

Once, aeons ago under a pagan Sun

I tracked the Moon phases

From New to Full width

We walked full circle

She and I

Without humanity there

We communed in silence

Yet the message was clear

While you all were locked up in fear

We were without you

And your superficial needs

Strutting on your stages

Pretending to be something

When in reality

You ache inside

For something lost

And in that month or so

When you might have had it back

That thing you lost

You yearned for normal

Like some junky

Hooked on the meaningless

On social status and ideology

Because in the silence of the lockdown

The peace you yearn was there

The Crone died again

And the Maiden sprung full-formed

Under a wise old Moon

Who has seen it all before

So that it became a rhythmic bore

The turning of the endless cycle

Despite you

Astral Messages

Deep and deeper into fiery depths

Down and down ‘neath the cooling stillness

Where obscured symbols serve for words

And standing stones encircle scented voids

Ancient primordial creatures stir

And other strange images form down there

Midst blue and emerald mind mists

And the elemental mysteries of inner Earth

Where fires’ flames lick and dance

And the shimmering air swirls entranced

Crystalline waters trapped as precious opals

Sublime and regal royals enthroned

Through all eternity as cold and darkened stones

Images move and rise and fall

Emerging, emerging and then not at all

Half-formed figures born floating linger

Whispers and soundless sounds as tinder

To spark and fuel those inner flames

Astral messages calling ancient names

Billowing, enduring truths exclaimed
