Come Down

So here is a new song…

The Sun is out today

Shining like the star that it is

Even I could never say

That life is wasting away

Come down to me

Be the person you aim to be

Come down to me

Let me touch, let me see

The Moon is in the sky

Reflecting the light of life

I look and I stare

But in the end, I’m cannot care

Your are my Sun and the Moon

You are the stars that shine

You are the one that came to stay

Never to leave me anyway

Come down to me

Be the person you aim to be

Come down to me

Let me touch and let me see

10,000 Books Sold

For the last 16-months, I have been tracking sales of most of my books. Not all, as I can’t access the information in some instances in timely fashion and in the case of one publisher – not at all. However, I have definitely now surpassed 10,000 books sold. Quite a staggering number for something that is really a hobby on the side. I am currently moving 6-10 Kindles a day and 100 audiobooks a month not to mention paperbacks etc.

My best seller is now Your Haunted Lives and it has managed more than 2000 sales to date. Not far behind are My Haunted Life Too and My Haunted Life.

Thanks to all who have purchased any of my books…. hopefully it will be 20,000 soon!

There Is A Reality Creation Battle Going On

We live in a co-created reality and as a result, what you think and what emotion and imagination you put behind that thought, creates your reality and co-creates the reality we live in. I’m not going to defend that statement here as I have discussed it at length in many other blog posts and books. What is important is that there is a big battle going on and it is messing with your head trying to get you to cooperate and form a particular reality. As a result of the internet and social media, it is a huge battle because it is easier to influence now than ever before. We used to live in a controlled world. We consumed our information from a few sources and those sources were controlled. It may have been the BBC, ITV and The Times, for example for someone living in the UK. When the powers that be essentially controlled a rather stable reality.

Suddenly, it is the Wild West. People can access information from multiple sources – hundreds of thousands if not millions of sources. Everybody’s opinion can be promoted and consumed on social media. As a result, we have a more chaotic world as people are perhaps not thinking for themselves but they are choosing what to consume in terms of information. We have conspiracy, nationalism, and much more and all these bits of information are getting emotional and imaginative power from all of us that choose to consume them and react to them. There is no single source of truth – there are just positions and opinions and more importantly .. agendas.

I could talk at length about this but I won’t. Not today anyway. I will just say that the Russians and the Chinese know this. They are doing a wonderful job of hacking our reality in the west. They are getting you to react and consume and imagine. In this way, you are co-creating their desired reality. The powers in the West are probably doing the same to a limited degree but I get the feeling that they got caught out by the new information landscape. The west is entirely dependent on technology. Our enemies know this and if they were ever to attack us overtly, that technological infrastructure would be their first target for destruction (they are already practicing by the way – google someone is practicing taking down the internet). Meanwhile, hackers and just ordinary people paid to post comments are flooding our information landscape with nonsense – misinformation. Just go look at any story on CNN or some other mainstream site and check out the comments to see this. They are working very effectively to change our reality through creating fear, distrust of institutions and much much more. They seem to be winning. We are co-creating a new reality that is more alined to their objectives and less aligned to the powers that be in the west.

Now, I don’t know whose reality is best. I’m not sure it matters. It is the flux and the resulting chaos that I dislike.

Think about what information you consume and how it affects you emotionally and imaginatively…….

Magic is being used to hijack reality and this time, it isn’t Zeltan in my novella The Last Observer.

Three Things That Sell Books – And It Isn’t Content

Nope. Content doesn’t much matter it seems. If you want to sell books here are the three most important things by a mile…

1. Cover.

The cover is what will make your book stand out from the crowd. A good book cover is worth its weight in gold.

2. Title.

Yep – title is important so think it through, experiment with it and include lots of juicy key words.

3. Description.

How you set up the book is important too – write a compelling description and fill it full of keywords as well. Consider using a list of contents and/or endorsements.

So what does this mean? It means people buy books based on cover, title and description…

Once they have purchased the book, content is more important but to get them to click and purchase….. its all about the sizzle and not about the bacon.

She’s Out There

I finished the second song in Garageband. It’s an old tune that I wrote in around 1979 called She’s Out There. I have got a bit better with Garageband now but am still learning how to use it properly. Anyway, here it is.

The Supernatural Czech Republic

I just issued a new book on Kindle and shortly to be a paperback too. It is called The Czech Republic – The Most Haunted Country in the World?

It’s definitely a good choice for a Halloween read…

Here are a few abridged stories from it….

The Devil’s Bible

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to see this strange document first hand, as it was on display outside of Brno. In fact, what I saw was a copy of the original. Nonetheless, the effect was chilling. The Devil’s Bible or Codex Gigas is 36inches tall by 20 inches wide and about 9 inches thick. It contains a set of Christian texts including the Bible. It is bound in leather with metal trim and weighs over 165 pounds. It is known for the amazing color illustration in its pages of the Devil and that is how it gained its name.

imagesHistorians believe the text was created in the Benedictine monastery of Podlažice in the Czech Republic in the early 13th century. Now, as if the scale of the Bible wasn’t enough, the Bible’s creation legend is even more bizarre. A monk in the middle Ages, who, after breaking his monastic vows, was sentenced to the horribly cruel death of being walled up alive, is said to have written it. Desperate to avoid his fate, the monk promised to write – in just a single night – a book that both glorified his church and also contained all human knowledge. His plan was accepted but by midnight, he was nowhere near completing the book. He decided he needed help but instead of praying to God, he prayed to Lucifer offering his soul in return for the finished book. The Devil responded to the monk’s prayer accepting the offer. Within seconds, the huge book was completed while the monk added the portrait of his mentor and savior in gratitude. Although, some say Lucifer himself painted the picture.

Experts agree that one person wrote the entire book and estimate it would take more than 5-years to complete – at least without supernatural help anyway.

A Czech Vampire

In Ždár nad Sázavou, a Czech vampire once roamed. Alois Ulrich was an unkindly man and the administrator of the local castle estate. He treated his fellow humans with the same contempt that he had for animals. In his early 60’s, he contracted a strange disease and died. No one was particularly sad to see him pass away. He was buried in the lower churchyard.

But Alois continued to terrorize his neighbors even in death as he was seen by many villagers both in the cemetery and standing on a local bridge. There was even a murder attributed to the dead Alois. The increasingly concerned and scared inhabitants called on a local landowner to investigate. They decided first to make sure that he was actually dead and buried and so they exhumed him. On opening Alois’ coffin, they found that the body showed no signs of decay and on calling him by name Alois opened his eyes and slowly sat up. The local Priest tried to talk to him but Alois only snarled back. The solution was to sever his head with a spade and to fill his mouth with poppy seeds as an anti-vampire measure. He was then cemented into his grave. That solved the problem.

Kutna Hora Ossuary

In a town named Kutna Hora, here in the Czech Republic, there is a very famous ossuary that is said to contain the bones of between 40,000 and 70,000 people. The site, which is beneath the cemetery of the Church of All Saints just outside of Kutna Hora, is a very creepy visit. Four huge bell-shaped mounds of bones in each corner of the Chapel are accentuated by delightful human skeletal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There is even a coat of arms – all made from human skeletal remains, on the wall.

The story behind how this came to be is fascinating. Back in 1278, a monk returned from the Holy Land with soil from Golgotha. This was spread in the cemetery making it a much wanted final destination of many people in the region. The results of a 14th Century Black Death outbreak and 15th Century wars in the region also ensure that there were many thousands buried there during that period as well. The ossuary was created when rebuilding work meant digging up many of the bodies in the 1400’s and this practice continued to make room for new tenants in the cemetery for several hundred years. The macabre decorations in the place were the brainchild of a woodcarver given responsibility for the place in 1870.

The place has a very strange atmosphere. It is probably just the imagination as you are surrounded by skeletons – but who knows? With some 50,000 remains there surely there must be one or two spirits haunting the place?

Do take a look at the book – I’m sure you will find it interesting…

I Feel an Album Coming On

Recently, I bought a new guitar. Then, I bought a way to record it on my iMAC and then finally, I bought a microphone….

I am now engaged in a project to record a bunch of songs I wrote and often performed back in the 1970’s and early 80’s along with a couple of newer songs. Not sure what people will make of my indulgence but I am having fun! One thing I discovered is that my voice is no longer very powerful and I no longer can hit the notes so well…..

However, here is the first track – I may re-record the verse vocals at some point but for now, I’m sort of OK with this.

It’s called Waitin’ For You and I wrote it in a room on the 19th Floor of Dalton Towers at Aston University way back when….

Take a listen and…. please, be kind.

The Ghosts of The Czech Republic

My new book – The Czech Republic – The Most Haunted Country in the World – was released yesterday in Kindle format. There was a slight snafu and I had to remove the photos unfortunately but it is now out. The paperback version is in progress and it WILL include my photos….. An audiobook version is planned though it might be me doing the reading as there are too many Czech words and locations in the book for someone unfamiliar with the language to pronounce…. (and listening to GPS instructions from an English voice mispronouncing everything has put me off not getting it right for life…)

The book is a mixture of myths, tales, legends, ghost stories, haunted locations and scary places. It should make for a good Halloween read and in paperback version, a great gift….

Give it a look.

A word about the cover….

The cover photo is two images superimposed. Firstly, the Czech flag but also this image that I took at Hrad Houska – The Gates of Hell…..

The Czech Republic – Is it the Most Haunted Country in the World?

Probably in my opinion….

Having lived here 10-years, it definitely has an undercurrent of myth, legend, and the strange. So it should be no surprise that on October 1st, my new book will be out in an attempt to try to prove it!

Take a look. You can even pre-order it in Kindle format!
