The Eternal Return
Waves of different wavelengths
Hang close to eternity
Eyes that can see
Collapsing waves of light
In creation of reality
Day-to-day visions of me
Still just the reality of
An underlying actuality
The timelessness of eternity
With a traveling slit to see
My now forever drifting
Observing and creating
Past, present and future
Side-by-side
An eternal returning ride
I think I have been reading too much anthony Peake recently!
The Fool
In Inner Journeys, I took some of my magickal diary extracts and interspersed them through the book for effect and to reinforce the content….
Here is one from the book on The Fool.
The Fool seems foolish because he is not limited by rules or conventions – the barriers that we create for ourselves in this world. I say that I can’t do something because I believe that I cannot or I have been told that I cannot but the Fool has no expectations and does whatever. Not knowing that “it cannot be done” he does it anyway. The limitations that we apply to ourselves do not apply to the Fool. This is not to say that natural laws can be broken but that self-limitations do not exist. As the Creator creates, He is not limited by pre-conceptions of what is or should be. He just creates what He imagines.

The Labyrinth of Time by Anthony Peake
Time is probably the greatest enigma of them all and yet it is our most precious commodity. In my busy daily life it seems to me that time is getting faster and faster and, the older I get, its speed simply increases. Yet there are still 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day. There are though moments when time stops and I instinctively understand that time is unreal. In meditative states, time becomes what it probably really is – an illusion created to bring order to my existence.
Anthony Peake
Time is the topic addressed in Anthony Peake’s book “The Labyrinth of Time”. Peake’s style is to explore every conceivable avenue around and through a topic and so we are presented with subjects ranging from quantum physics and philosophy, through déjà vu, precognition and dreams, to a review of movies and plays with time as the topic. The result is a thorough and complete scientific analysis of the time. I say scientific because I know that Anthony’s work is often considered ‘new age’ or in some way populist, but his approach is actually more scientific than that taken by scientists as it examines every aspect and facet of the subject. His approach is holistic and comprehensive. He also has an uncanny ability to explain the unexplainable using the written word and, in that way, opens up a whole new world that is usually the exclusive preserve of scientists to the common man.
Having also review Anthony’s first book (Is There Life after Death?), one can see how his theories have evolved and strengthened through his continuing work. His evolving hypothesis is certainly one that has a ring of truth about it particularly to those of us steeped in occult tradition. He explains in modern terms many esoteric ideas passed down through the millennia including the Akasha and the idea of the oneness of consciousness. His theoretical postulations answer a lot of questions regarding the Rosicrucian concepts of reality and actuality. His theories are echoed in movies such as Groundhog Day and The Matrix and it appears that more than ever before, man is finding something about his own nature generally. To know thyself is the current way of things it seems and not just an age old approach to magick.
My earliest thoughts on time were the result of playing a leading role in a school production of Time and the Conway’s in my early teens. Peake covers the play and the other writings of JB Priestley and many other authors in his book. But I found myself reading from page-to-page with the growing excitement of the recognition of a kernel of truth unfolding before my eyes delivered in entertaining fashion with an eye for detail.
Peake’s theory is that we live an initial life and then repeat this same life in an eternal return. It’s really that simple but he has now enhanced and embellished this theory coming to the conclusion that “the act of observation or, more accurately, the self-reflectiveness that this act imparts upon consciousness, is what creates the idea of personality and separateness”. We are all One Thing, all aspects of the One Thing experiencing itself. As the Kybalion puts it; The Universe is mental.
Peake’s work, based on his many avenues of research and analysis, ends up reinforcing for me the idea that science is finally catching up with esoteric thought and philosophy. There is nothing at all new in any of these ideas. Instead Peake is rediscovering what has always been known by the enlightened few and then examining it under the light of a scientific microscope. Unfortunately in some respects, it may mean his books occupy the New Age section of the bookstore instead of the Science section; but that is simply the scientific communities’ loss and our gain.

The Hexagram and Kybalion
The new book – The Mystical Hexagram: The Seven Inner Stars of Power by SC Vincent and myself – gets into a discussion of what I call ‘polarity’. The Polarity displayed by the Hexagram as a symbol is actually best viewed when the Hexagram is overlaid on the Tree of Life. In fact, the book looks at the three types of polarity implicit in the Hexagram as well as what I call the Three Cycles (which interestingly enough equate to the three Alchemical Principles of Salt, Mercury and Sulphur!) as well as the Fire and the Water triangles that, interlaced, form the hexagram. But … back to polarity.
Today, I was re-reading the Kybalion book by the Three Initiates. It suddenly struck me that the three polarities observed in the Hexagram somewhat equate to three of the Laws or Principles that the book discusses: Vibration, Polarity and Rhythm. Vibration is in fact what we term ‘vertical polarity’. Polarity is what we term ‘horizontal polarity’. Rhythm is what we call ‘active polarity’.
According to the Kybalion, Vibration is The great Third Hermetic Principle–the Principle of Vibration–embodies the truth that Motion is manifest in everything in the Universe–that nothing is at rest–that everything moves, vibrates, and circles. This Hermetic Principle was recognized by some of the early Greek philosophers who embodied it in their systems. But, then, for centuries it was lost sight of by the thinkers outside of the Hermetic ranks. But in the Nineteenth Century physical science re-discovered the truth and the Twentieth Century scientific discoveries have added additional proof of the correctness and truth of this centuries-old Hermetic doctrine.
The Hermetic Teachings are that not only is everything in constant movement and vibration, but that the “differences” between the various manifestations of the universal power are due entirely to the varying rate and mode of vibrations. Not only this, but that even THE ALL, in itself, manifests a constant vibration of such an infinite degree of intensity and rapid motion that it may be practically considered as at rest, the teachers directing the attention of the students to the fact that even on the physical plane a rapidly moving object (such as a revolving wheel) seems to be at rest. The Teachings are to the effect that Spirit is at one end of the Pole of Vibration, the other Pole being certain extremely gross forms of Matter. Between these two poles are millions upon millions of different rates and modes of vibration.
In the Mystical Hexagram, we discuss vertical polarity as that from spirit to matter or perhaps from spiritual to physical. In fact, if a horizontal line is drawn on the hexagram at its mid-point, it becomes the above and the below. The spiritual above is mirrored by the physical below. In fact, vertical polarity is like the way of creation.
Horizontal polarity is described in the Kybalion like this – “Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.”–The Kybalion. In the Mystical Hexagram we see horizontal polarity in the same way with two polar points reconciled at a third point through the Law of the Triangle.
We also talk about Active polarity – seen as the third dimensional polarity. It is the hardest to visualize and understand because it can only be observed when we look in three dimensions – it is depth and we describe it as action – inaction. The Kybalion may just hint at this in the concept of Rhythm though Rhythm is described more as the pendulum swing between the two ends of horizontal polarity or pairs of opposites is you wish. But I also tend to think that Rhythm could equally well describe the cycle of action and inaction, rest and motion that our third polarity suggests.
Well, there is a lot more in the book……

There Is Nothing New in the World
Except maybe self deception! (no – that is not new either).
Today there is an explosion of articles about the mental nature of the Universe. Here is one example. I am glad. But lest these quantum physicists get ahead of themselves lets face some facts….
Man has known this for millenia. The knowledge was passed on or obtained through meditation and other such techniques but kept quiet. In a sense, it was suppressed by those who knew because of persecution or the lack of readiness of others to accept it. It was hidden. It became arcane or occult knowledge and it is therefore one of the foundational tenets of Magick. There is nothing new in the world.
In fact, I will go further. Scientists are not yet even as far along as some of this hidden knowledge – some of which has likely been lost. There is much more to the mental Universe and Man’s location at the very center of it yet to be discovered by scientists. I know that for a certainty.
I read a post by Anthony Peake the other day bemoaning the fact that two scientists had published a book discussing this and that everyone in the community was singing their praises so to speak. Anthony felt (justifiably) upset that when he dared to postulate such theories in his books over the last few years, these very same people were calling him a charlatan because he is not a quantum physicist and …. his evidence came from many other areas of life (philosophy, lucid dreaming, psychiatry, new age, literature etc. – i.e. other equally important but not ‘scientific’ disciplines). While I understand and agree with Anthony’s viewpoint – its a sad commentary on human nature – I can only say it is good that we finally live in an age where someone like Anthony, myself and many, many others can freely postulate such things without losing their lives or being condemned to the madhouse….. as many ‘occultists’ or shall we simply say, Magicians, have over the last several millenia.
Perhaps – to some extent – the time for occult secrecy is over?

The Flame of Desire.
Fire is the first born and fire is like desire. The desire to know, to understand, to be who you are. Once this fire is lit it will burn even if that burning is just a smoulder. This is why people say that ‘they will light a fire’ under someone. They mean that they wish to see more desire. This search must start through contemplation – inward looking searching for the real Self. This can take many hours, days, weeks even years or more but in the cloud there is the light of knowing. In the center of your darkness it is doused with the light and as that light extends outwards and through your soul more and more is exposed. Many will stop at the first flicker not liking what they see or rejecting it and choosing the world they know instead. But some, some will go on lighting every crevice and every hiding hole until all is exposed. As this process occurs, something else begins. You start to notice the outer world. On the one hand you understand the hideous, tortured reality of the outside but on the other you begin to notice the things that had been hidden before. And in the noticing comes an acceptance and an understanding – one begins to truly experience life. Things change at the center and that change ripples out changing reality – your reality. The process has truly begun. The mysteries begin to unfold. From time to time, the outer world will try to suck you back in. It may even succeed – for years – but then some small thing, something tips the balance and the desire is back. The fire bursts again into flame……

Words from Anthony Peake
The writer and poet Dr. G Michael Vasey has a fascinating website called Asteroth’s Apprentice. Dr Vasey’s book Inner Journeys, Explorations of the Soul is an interesting work that describes his life-time study of the ‘Mysteries’ and the Occult Sciences.
Dr. Vasey requested a copy of ITLAD a few weeks ago and a review copy was sent to him by my publisher. Dr. Vasey lives in Brno in the Czech Republic and they had no end of problems having a copy sent. However it was received and Dr. Vasey has read it.
I am pleased to say that he seems to have found it a worthwhile read. Take a look at his review on:
http://www.asterothsdomain.com/drupal...
Dr. Vasey’s comments add yet another angle on the power of the Daemon-Eidolon Dyad as a potential paradigm-changer. Indeed as a member of the Occult Organisation the Servants of the Light Dr. Vasey is well qualified to comment on the esoteric implications of ITLAD.
I am hoping that Dr. Vasey may be joining us under a Blogger Identity soon. I am sure that his contribution will add even more to the free wheeling intellectual eclecticism that makes this site stand out.
I never did blog on his site – more is the pity…..
A Old Interview
Back in the days when I still thought IJ would sell like hot cakes, I did an interview with Jeff Belanger of GhostVillage.com. Jeff was an old work colleague of mine who suddenly gave up his day job to write…. he now has 12 best sellers to his name!
Interview by Jeff Belanger – info@ghostvillage.com
Ghostvillage.com author interview
In Inner Journeys, Dr. G. Michael Vasey shares how the study of the occult, meditation, and his deeper self has enriched his life. Vasey offers a path the reader can follow for getting in contact with their own spirit guides. Ghostvillage.com caught up with Dr. Vasey to ask him about his life and the new book.
Was there a single event in your life that stirred your curiosity in the occult?
There really wasn’t a single event so-to-speak. In fact, it is difficult for me to pinpoint the moment when I became interested since I have been fascinated by the whole subject from the earliest age that I can recall. When you grow up seeing things — they are just there — you assume that they are there for everyone else too.
Perhaps the moment I truly became curious was when I realized that others did not necessarily share my experiences and visions and that was a difficult moment because other people’s reactions are often hostile — especially when you are all children. This occurs at a certain age — around your early teens — because up until that point, it is put down to simply having a vivid imagination!
In your first chapter you mention the problem mainstream society has with the word “occult.” What is your definition of the word and do you think we’re making any headway in a better understanding of these esoteric mysteries?
The word “occult” simply means “hidden.” An alternative word to use might be “arcane.” Words often get hijacked and frankly the word “occult” has been hijacked by Hollywood and the Church. You know there are actually sites on the Web that purport to show “occult” symbols and their true meaning and there one can find out that the pentagram is a satanic symbol along with almost every other symbol you ever thought of. Actually, the pentagram is simply a five-pointed star and has no meaning other than the one you chose to give it. It’s the same with the word occult — to me it just means that I have to dig deep within myself for knowledge — knowledge that is normally hidden to my conscious mind.
Unfortunately, I think the world is moving in two opposite directions at once. On the one hand, there are a lot more open minded and inquisitive people out there and on the other there are a growing number of closed minded people too. I think it is unfortunate that some people who subscribe to certain religions can’t limit their beliefs to themselves but feel it necessary to impose their beliefs on all of us too.
You were raised in England but now live in the United States. Do you see a difference in how Europeans perceive this subject compared to Americans?
Absolutely! I think Europe being an older and more established society is much more at ease with itself than the US. Believe it or not, the home of free speech is the UK — I can say whatever I want there but you have to be careful here — especially in the south! Many of the schools and traditions that are used today by occultists originate in Europe and the UK — for example the Golden Dawn which spawned a number of other groups such as the Fraternity of the Inner Light which in turn spawned the Servants of the Light — the school I studied with. There is more tradition and tolerance for these things in Europe and there are much fewer fundamental religious types too.
Delving inward through meditation is an extremely personal and intimate experience. What compelled you to share it in your book, Inner Journeys?
I was told to, otherwise I probably would have kept it to myself. The voice told me to write and I said, “Write what?” It said, “Write a book.” I was a bit puzzled myself but it showed me what to write about and so I did. Most of the writing was done following a meditation session and it was almost automatic since you are still in a higher state of mind. As I wrote I realized that no one had written a book quite like this before — a personal account of studying with an occult school and the impact that it had on your life and inner make up. To work effectively it had to be honest. After all, studying the occult is to look at yourself and through a systematic and on-going process to work on changing yourself for the better. The book had to show that process and had to provide a starting point and an ending point in my inner development.
Your spirit guide, Asteroth, seems to play a significant role in your life. Do all of us have a spirit guide? What can we gain by making contact with our guide?
Asteroth was an inner voice that spoke to me and had a certain visual form in my mind. She has gone now and the reason she has gone is that she was a part of my own inner make up. This is why I say studying occult methods is very much the same as self-psychology. She was a part of myself that needed to be assimilated and in the process I become more whole and more harmonized. In that respect, everyone has access to the inner voice they just have to be still and quiet enough to hear it. If you hear that voice and can cultivate it you will find that it knows all the answers. The answers are inside of us but most people rush around seeking answers outside themselves in this illusionary world. To hear that voice you have to open yourself to it and the “ego” doesn’t like you to know the truth about yourself!
Is there any danger in exploring the occult through meditation and the other methods you mention in your book?
There can be. That is why studying with an established and bona fide school like the Servants of the Light (SOL) would be my recommended way to go about it. It gradually exposes you to methods through time avoiding a shock to the system. The danger is in going too far too soon and not being able to handle mentally what you find within your inner landscapes. This is why schools like the SOL warn students to stay away from drug induced states of different reality because that’s like being thrown in the ocean before you have learned to swim. You might be okay, but you may also drown.
The biggest challenge I had to overcome was that many of my existing beliefs — the foundations I had built myself on — were challenged over the course of the 5-year study. You go through all kinds of stages with that, such as denial, anger, disbelief, etc. and finally acceptance. It’s only in going through those experiences that you can become more of who you truly are and what you have the potential to be — and that’s Magic literally.
What does your family think of your spiritual practices? Have they begun to explore these deeper mysteries for themselves or do they simply think dad is “weird?”
They accept me for who I am and they don’t know any different. My eldest son is in college and he is certainly interested but hasn’t yet taken any steps to follow in my footsteps. Nor would I want him to. I think you need to have a good deal of life experience behind you to really benefit from this approach. He certainly isn’t embarrassed by it though since he has been telling his friends to read his Dad’s book!
What do you want your readers to take away from Inner Journeys?
That magick and the occult are not to be feared. Magick is the process of getting to know yourself and, by changing who you are, you change the outer world too — it’s “positive thinking” but with a much deeper and more long lasting effect — and it takes longer to perfect as a result. You create your own reality and we are all one. All inter-connected. That one interconnected consciousness is constantly creating the world we see and it is what we might call “God.” In that sense, we are all sparks of the one Fire. My story will hopefully encourage others to take a similar journey and for those already on that journey, it provides something they can relate to.
What’s the first music album you ever bought and where is it now?
Interesting question! It was a compilation album of T.Rex songs, I believe. T. Rex were never as big in the US as they were elsewhere in the world for some reason but Marc Bolan’s (singer, guitarist, songwriter in T.Rex) songs are actually used in a lot of TV commercials these days! Bolan was a fascinating person — he was built a bit like a Hobbit and he claimed to have studied with a Wizard in Paris! I still have most of their CD’s today.

Words
Heavily scented paragraphs
Interlaced with passion
Pale luminescent skin
Shining under full moonlight
Radiantly twitching
Beguiling, bewitching
Mouthed words of silence
Hallowed places
Boiling emotions scattered
Floating raggedly by
An endless chastened sigh
Belonging yet constantly longing
Heat dashed vibrant thighs
Senses on the edge of darkness
Entwined they simply lie
In one soul searching cry

Writing
I love to write. I always have.
For many years I wrote songs and poetry. Playing the guitar, many of these were also set to music… I have a couple of songs that I think are quite good the rest, well, I had fun. Some of those songs and poems are in Weird Tales others are in a huge file of yellowing papers many dating back to 1973.
In my professional career, I have also written many many articles and three books. I also have chapters in three other books. All on energy and commodities. One of the articles was even quoted by the US Congress report into the impact of speculators in commodity markets….
However, it was Inner Journeys that I think marked my first real effort at writing something meaningful. The Mystical Hexagram followed. I have tons of ideas for other books too but I find that, in order to write, I need solitude. Sometime solitude is difficult to come by. But if I feel I just have say 30 minutes to write then I find I cannot because I feel pressured. Furthermore, I write better after meditation for some reason. So, to write, I need 3-4 hours of uninterrupted time….. with a five year old daughter, that’s often a tall order.
Just recently, I have found myself yearning to write. I would love to give up my day job and be a writer…. I see myself in a small house in the country with a studio writing books. This house has a tower. The tower room is my writing studio and it too is full of books… I adore books as much as I like to write. The idea of making a living writing is my dream and its a dream I am determined to fulfill. One day soon, I will be sat in my round room typing, dreaming, creating, imagining strange and wonderful yarns……..
I have started work on my first novel. The title will be The Last Observer. Plainly, it will have an esoteric theme…..
Wish me luck!
