Recurring Dreams

I have always had recurring dreams. Sometimes, its the same dream but most often I recognize the place in my dream and expand upon it. In the latter, I guess I can also be lucid. Most of my recurring dreams involve houses – huge houses. There are always rooms in those houses that I really like but I never use and in the dream, I am exploring these rooms with a sense of wonderment. I suppose, this is really a self exploration and these unused rooms are perhaps areas of myself that I do not give sufficient attention to.

I also have another recurring dream about places. Usually, this involves tunnels and streets and I am lost. I know I am not far from home but I can’t actually get home. There is a sense of frustration as I run down tunnels and streets recognizing them as being near my home but I simply never get to my home. Then there is a similar one in which someone close to me no longer seems to exist. I have memory of them and I can’t believe they don’t exist but they simply do not exist. Very weird….especially the bit where I have them on my cell phone momentarily but then their contact is simply erased in front of my eyes…..

Then, very occasionally, I have a dream that is episodic. I dream part of it one night and then re-enter the dream the next night and maybe for several nights. In more rare cases, I can have part 2 of a dream years after part one – or did I simply dream that I had dreamt part 1? In these dreams there is usually a love interest. When I was a boy, I dreamt about a girl who lived in a house on a small island. I would peer through the window to see her and then we met. She was however afraid that her aunt – a wicked witch – would catch us. Eventually, said Aunt was chasing me all over but I could easily evade her. These dreams went on for a long time.

The only dream that I don’t enjoy much is the one where an unseen force throws me around like a rag doll. That dream is my nightmare….

London

Well, I hadn’t been to London in a while and how it has changed! Its a big building site in the City but I understand most of these new buildings remain empty or will be empty when completed. For me, London has become a very modern and actually very nice city with all of that recent development.

However, it takes ages to get around the city. We took a cab from Tower Bridge to one of the railway stations and it took around 40 minutes and costs a small fortune. The driver did take us the scenic route though it would seem and I was able to get a look at Big Ben and Buckingham Palace en route…

I was hoping to make it over to Watkins Book shop but unfortunately, never had the time. Maybe next time…

The Book That Got Me Started

Back in 2005 I published my first book. It was a labor of love too….. It is called Inner Journeys: Explorations of the Soul published by Thoth. It’s still selling and still available…

It is an autobiographical account of my childhood and teens that were plagued with poltergeist and other paranormal phenomena that scared me to death. Later in life, having supressed my innate psychism, I found a real school of magic called The Servants of the Light based in the UK. The book follows my progress through the five-year first degree course of the school complete with entries from my magical diary and shows how becoming an occultist/magician finally solved a lot of personal issues.

It covers topics like how to meditate, what is magic, why the occult is not at all frightening or evil, and many many more questions of that nature.

The book was published at the end of 2005 by Thoth Publications and sells slowly but consistently as it is on the reading list of several schools of occult science. I always though that with the interest in schools of magic and wizardry created by Harry Potter, that some people might also be intrigued by what studying at a School of magic is really like …

This is what SC Vincent posted on one of my blogs about this book…

I have to recommend this book as an honest and well presented examination of how the study of the occult can have fundamental effects on the life of the student. The book describes the inner journey to the School where the author began his formal training as an initiate, and provides a valuable insight and demystification of a mystery school.

I was particularly taken with the openness of the story; Dr Vasey is not seeking glory with his initial description of himself. Many of us will recognise our own first steps in the quest to ‘Know Thyself’.

Recommended for both the absolute beginner starting out with the first hesitant steps, or the ‘beginner’ who has studied for years and who will find much that makes him smile in recognition. For those who, for whatever reason, find the Path difficult, Inner Journeys is a Light shining at the end of the tunnel and the helping hand extended in friendship.

Thanks to Sue for that and I hope she doesn’t mind me posting it here.

Religion

To follow

Your words we trust

Despite your actions

And the countless billions

That crossed religions

And suffered death or persecution

A man who

Thinks he knows

What God wants

Is a dangerous delusion

Devilish collusion

To further darkness and chaos

Religion

Your dogma

Conform or die

Propagate my lie

Kill the unbelievers

Help make me absolute

Man-made lies

Not God uttered

Satan’s revenge

Death and destruction

Psycho seduction

Kill, hate, maim and persecute

For man

In the name of God

The Cycle of Life

At this time of the year I am struck by the colours of spring. The lush greens of the grass and trees with new leaves and then the dustings of purple, yellow, pink, and white of wild flowers and of the blossoms. It is as if the world has been created anew and it is wonderous. Everything is in its youth or infancy in the cycle of the year. The vitality and the strength of the life force is there and is both plain to be seen but can also be felt. The days of course, are getting longer and more light-filled and the air is warmer. Spring has sprung.

220px-Ouroboros

As I think about the endless cycle of birth and death – the orouboros of life – the eternal return, I think about the stage I am in life. Assuming a 70-year life (and I am hoping for a good deal longer), I am in the first throes of October. If I am optimistic, then I am in September. My summer is over. My spring was sprung long ago. It is Autumn and the first chills of Winter can be sensed in the grey streaks in my hair and the lines on my face. The back of the hand skin test verifies this. It could be my Indian Summer. My allotted time is passing and one can even sometimes sense the sand grains slipping through the stretched part of the hour glass.

spring

Maybe then this is why Spring seems so beautiful. It reminds one of the carefree days of our lives when there was never any thought of death or dying nor even of aging. There was just the tremendous potential to create a life path. There was energy and willing. There was enthusiasm and excitement. I feel it in the air now. It pushes you on a bit and gives me a source of renewed energy and vigor. Sure, its just a shadow of what was there in my own youth but none the less, it is there.

spiritual-awakening5

And so we create our lives moment by moment, led by the seasons and responding to the light. At each and every stage of our lives we are reminded ow what has been and what will be via the seasons and the patterns of the eternal return. At each moment, we still have the ability to change, to recreate and to become better than we ever were. Perhaps even until the last moments.

Life in Bite-Sized Chunks

Being a father of three sons and a daughter, I often need to come up with advice about life. Frankly, I don’t feel particularly qualified because I am still trying to figure it out myself. There was a song I used to like that alluded to this saying something along the lines of once you have life figured out, its gone. So, what can I tell the kids about life?

One thing I have come to think is that making plans is somewhat useless. Most books and experts these days will tell you that a plan is a must but you know, I can’t agree. It’s good to have a vision and dreams for sure and its OK to chase those dreams. In fact, we must have dreams but a plan? Is life for planning? Do we all need to go out an buy MS Project and create a Gantt chart plan of how we want our lives to be? If we do, I suspect we are wasting our time.

To me, life changes from moment to moment. It’s somewhat unpredictable. Yes, we create our reality from moment to moment but we mostly do it unconsciously. We are driven by ego, fear, wants, and so called needs, and these often are the building blocks for our life plan. I think this is where I can offer some sage advice to my kids – its all BS. It is. This isn’t planning your life. This is allowing your life to be planned for you! This is living in the matrix.

future

Since most of us lack the ability to properly co-create our reality, life often feels outside of our control. This is an illusion. Life may send us some challenges and some tests (and those challenges won’t go away until we properly address them), but we do have control. Though, I cannot do it for long periods, simply relaxing and letting go isn’t a bad strategy. Something like belting yourself in and trying to enjoy the ride. This approach also means that we are not really creating anything but reacting to things.

One approach I have taken is to simply identify the next point in my life. I describe this as point A to point B. If I identify point B and work towards this then I may actually get there and I may not finding instead something else along the way. The idea though is that in getting to point B, we open up a whole new world of choices, events and people – opportunities – that were unseen at point A. This is short-term goal setting with long-term uncertainty! Point B throws up a myriad of new possible outcomes unseen and unthought of at point A.

create

The beauty of this approach is that I can focus on point B in such a way as to help create that reality. I can imagine achieving my goal, imagine what it feels like and know with certainty that I am fully capable of achieving it. It’s life in bite-sized chunks.

When I look back at my life, this is how it developed. Initially more or less randomly driven by impulse, interest and passions but now, as I grow older and I trust a little wiser, I do actually have some power to influence and create the reality of my life.

We Have A Date!

Today, if you didn’t know it, is St. George’s day. The patron saint of England who slew the dragon. Maybe its a fitting date then for Roundfire to actually set a publication date for The Last Observer? Yep, I awoke this morning to discover that it will be published on the 30th August 2013. It has its own page too with all the key details. The print book will retail at 6.99GBP or 12.95USD and the eBook at 6.99GBP or 9.99USD. I also have an author’s page there.

Gosh, wouldn’t it be nice if the book really did well!

Here are several endorsements. My sincere thanks to Herbie, Alan, Gordon and Anthony…

Dennis Wheatley brought up to date with a liberal spicing of speculation about the nature of reality, quantum physics and parallel worlds. This thriller novel is written by a practising occultist and it shows in the authenticity of every page. Highly recommended. ~ Herbie Brennan, New York Times best-selling author of Whisperers: The Secret History of the Spirit World.

The Last Observer is like the Devil Rides Out but on steroids. Magic and Science collide, dragging bookworm Stanley into a fast-paced adventure full of intriguing twists and turns and culminating in a battle over reality. Vasey combines ancient magic and quantum physics in a seamless picture of what reality might be and uses it as a theme to weave the devil of a story. It’s a gripping and thought provoking ride. ~ Alan Richardson, Author of Magical Kabbalah and many other books…

We all perceive reality differently, yet the evil Zeltan plans to control the universal consciousness. Because Stanley possesses a unique imagination, he is marked as another victim for the satanic tyrant. While fleeing from this threat, our innocent discovers his soul while Alison, dabbling in the occult, nearly loses hers. The author has created a convincing world of magic, quantum and mind-blowing ideas in which to set an endlessly surprising adventure. Along the way, enormous questions are being asked about how power should be used, whether it is scientific or magical. ~ Gordon Strong, Author of Merlin: Master of Magic and many other books.

Gary tells a classic tale of mystery and suspense but weaves within it a series of themes that would be at home in any modern physics text book. He masterfully uses his own extensive knowledge of modern magical rituals to create a tale that is both mysterious and intriguing. However the mystery soon gives way to something far more sinister and terrifying, a terror that explodes into a finale of epic proportions in which the fate of the universe itself is at stake. Once started this book cannot be put down and once finished you may just find yourself checking the shadows to catch a glimpse of the Lord of the Elements. ~ Anthony Peake, author of Is There Life After Death? The Extraordinary Science of What Happens When We Die and many other books.

The Last Observer – Getting Closer to Reality

My novel now has a full cover including the following text on the back of the book…

The Last Observer is a compelling tale of magic, alternative realities, murder and conflict. An ordinary man is abruptly dragged into the middle of a violent struggle between black and white magicians who both seek to use his extraordinary powers of imagination and observation. He soon learns that reality is not at all what it seems before being called upon to play a decisive role in determining whose reality will prevail.

“Dennis Wheatley brought up to date with a liberal spicing of speculation about the nature of reality, quantum physics and parallel worlds. …. Highly recommended” – Herbie Brennan, New York Times best-selling author of Whisperers: The Secret History of the Spirit World.

Dr. G. Michael Vasey writes about the nature of reality and our ability to shape that reality from an occultist point of view.

Also – it would appear it will retail in paper form for 6.99GBP or $12.95 in the USA…..
