Sunday Supper: Panko Crusted Salmon
You’ve probably heard of Panko crusted chicken. Since I gave up meat for 2014, I’ve become fairly adventurous in seafood. Panko crusted salmon gives you the same texture but with fish.

When Your Friend is a Trafficker
Last week’s New York Times article about labor abuse in the construction of the NYU Abu Dhabi facilities brought new light to the dangerous of doing business in the Arabian Gulf. For the laborers, the complaints were much the same: addition to unsanitary accommodations, low or no wages, and harsh working conditions, the men who […]

Sunday Supper: Squid Stirfry
I’ve been a vegetarian for 5 months. Haven’t missed meat much but I do need to branch out from salmon. That’s why squid was a delightful departure from the regular fish menu. Though it left a lingering smell in my car, the stir fry (and later calamari) were worth it.

To date, this has been an internal conflict with occasional blips in the international media. But the group’s kidnapping of over 200 school girls, and the subsequent mishandling by the Nigerian authorities, […]

M(other)s
You’ve heard the expression – or used it yourself. “Didn’t your mother teach you any manners?” “Where is your mother?” “What was his mother thinking?” Whether good or bad – mostly in the bad instances – we call questions down on people’s upbringings. And that usually leads to questions about parenting. Which are directed most […]

Writer Wednesday: A Real Pencil (Not the Skirt)
I tried quite a few titles for this post, including “Rob’s Pencil” but you can see why that probably wasn’t a good choice. Or am I too attuned to undergrad forms of humor? You may have read my writing process post on the blog last week which is part of a “hop”. In the blogosphere, […]
