Complete: The White Raven: Morrigan’s Heir

That’s a draft. The White Raven: Morrigan’s Heir is done. I’m going to let it sit for a bit before I reread it and send it out to the beta-readers. But it’s done.

Total wordcount: 88,910

Total days: 112 days

Average words per day: 793.8

Sequel to Princes of Air (2011)

So, what now? Now, I’m taking a few days off. I’m cleaning my house this week, and prepping. On February 15th, I’ll be starting in on The Lady and the Sword, book 2 of The Swords of Charlemagne....

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week fifteen

The end is near!

No, really. I’m working on the last chapter of The White Raven, book one (title to be figured out at some point). Once that’s done, I have a few scenes to polish, then this thing is off to the beta readers.

I’m hoping to have this done by this time next week. Fingers crossed!

What then? Then, I’m going to take a week or so to clean my house.  I’m going to sit and reread Hidden Things and go over the series bible for Swor...

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week Fourteen

Week Fourteen. The week in which a decision was made.

The White Raven will be two books. I’m committing trilogy again, because there’s just too much book here. When all is said and done on book one, the wordcount is going to be very close to my original 100K estimate. So what we have here is The White Raven, book one. Book two will come after I finish the Swords of Charlemagne books.

Now I need to come up with two titles.

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week 13

Another week, more fight scenes. I’m starting to wonder why I set a book in Imperial Rome…

It’s been a long weekend. I spent the weekend at the Central Florida Highland Games, where I foolishly thought I’d be able to get some writing done.

I can hear you laughing, you know.

Luckily for me, I’d gotten enough done earlier in the week that not making my word count three days in a row didn’t hurt me at all. I’m still ahead of where I should be in total words, although I’m starting to wonder if I...

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week 12

Did you ever have one of those days, where you roll out of bed and all of a sudden it’s bedtime? And you look around and say “I know I had a day here. I was going to get so much done. Where did it go? Honestly. It was right here a minute ago!”

Yeah, that’s been my day.

My problem wasn’t that I mislaid the day, it’s that I had too many things to do and not enough day to put them in. So what fell to the wayside?

If you guessed writing, you win the prize! What prize? Well… I’ve got a free read c...

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week 11 and 2017 wrap up

Here it is, only a few minutes to midnight on December 31st. The end of 2017.

Not a bad year. I sold six books between September and June, which is a new personal record. I wrapped up the Rebel Mage series. I got to attend RWA Nationals, won a major award,  participated in my first RWA Literacy Signing, and celebrated 20 years of marriage all in the same week.

I’m a little behind on where I want to be on The White Raven, but not terrible so.  I’m just a hair over 2K words off my planned wordc...

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week 10

And… I’m officially behind.  Another off week, and I’m now just about a thousand words behind where I should be at this stage. I’ll be working on making that up this coming week.

The White Raven
Week Ten Total Wordcount

Things I learned this week? Fight scenes take longer for me to write than sex scenes, but it’s for the same reason — blocking. Figuring out what’s happening where, and who is doing what to whom, takes time. Here’s hoping that once I get through this fight scene that things sp...

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week 9

Week Nine. The week where everything went off the rails. AKA, the week I baked. A lot.

It’s only because I was so diligent in the early weeks that I’m still on track for finishing by the end of February. However, I’m just barely on track, so I need to get my words on the page this week. No excuses. Nose to the grindstone and all that.

Right?

Work in Progress: The White Raven, week 8

I can honestly say that this is my first real off week. I made my daily wordcount twice this week. Now, I know why. I just need to figure out how to work around it.

I did something to my back in mid-October. I’m still not sure how I did it (I think it had to do with coughing and bronchitis), and no one seems to be sure what exactly I did. The current theory is sciatica, and I’ve started physical therapy to see if that will help. Which cuts down on my writing time by about two hours a day (an...
