Music Monday – Mama’s Broken Heart

Now, the message in this about saving face, not acting crazy, just smiling, keepin’ it together… Yeah, I wasn’t raised that way. There’s been a lot of stuff going on the last few weeks in the publishing world and for the most part, I’ve kept my mouth shut save for a few cryptic comments here and there and agreeing with others who’ve taken a stand… I’ll be posting about that later this week, but for now, it’s Music Monday…
This song was also the inspiration for my book, Keep It Together…

Author Friday – Virginia Nelson

We haven’t had an Author Friday in a while, so when my pal Virginia Nelson was looking for people to help her out with a cover reveal, I volunteered my blog and decided to revive the thread. If you’ve got any authors you’d like to see featured on Author Friday, let me know…
Now, I want you to take a look at Virginia’s upcoming release…

Music Monday – I’m A Keeper

I LOVE The Band Perry. There are many reasons why, but in listening to pretty much all their stuff, so far I can relate to it in some way. I’m A Keeper is one I WANT to relate to… It’s full of self confidence and stepping out, even if you’re the only one doing so… It’s a great anthem for me and the things I’m going through and the things I’m trying to accomplish…

Music Monday – All About That Bass

Because it’s just the cutest thing… And I like the message. We could all use a little levity and laughter and realism and less harsh criticism about size and perfection based on unrealistic standards.
If you’ve got it, then flaunt it…
Learn to love yourself. Learn to accept yourself. Learn that you don’t have to live up to anyone’s standards but your own. These are things I’m having to learn and adopt myself, so I know how hard it is and how hard it can be. But it’s not impossible and lif...

Football Football Football

Yes, y’all that’s what time of year it is!
I do write and work on things on the weekends, but I primarily watch football. It starts for me on Thursday nights. There’s Friday night college football too. All day Saturday starting at 9am with GameDay on ESPN, Sunday starting at 10am with the NFL, and Monday nights. That’s A LOT of football. And that makes for a happy Lissa.
It’s a lot of time in front of the television, too. On my ass. Though I do get up and walk in place (hey, it counts) ev...

Kindle Select for Stick Shift

If you’ve paid any attention to the re-release of Stick Shift this week, you may have noticed it’s not on Barnes and Noble or All Romance eBooks or Smashwords. There’s a reason for that and the title of this post makes that clear.
I’ve enrolled Stick Shift in Amazon Kindle Select. It’s exclusive to Amazon for 3 months. It’s a test, you see. For me. To try something new. To see how things work with Kindle Select. To utilize some of the deals and special things they have in place for autho...

Into The Newness

Change is hard for most people. Whether it’s personal or business, large or small, change affects us and can be downright scary. Sometimes change is out of our control, and sometimes all it takes is a toe dipped in the water.
At the same time, change can be very good for us.
The one thing I came away from Authors After Dark with this year, is that things need to change. For me. With me. Personal and business. And honestly, I’m scared shitless.
I don’t like change. It’s typically way outsid...

Cover Reveal – Five Alarm Alphas

See? And I bet y’all thought I’ve been doing nothing for months on end…
I was so thrilled to be asked to join this group of authors. I hadn’t been asked to join an anthology and to be completely honest, my feelings were kind of hurt. There are people I know and considered friends who’ve been in several and none of them ever asked me if I’d like to participate, not even for the anthologies in genres I write in.
For this one, an author I’d never talked to before, who I didn’t even know knew...

Cover Reveal – The Sticky Cowgirl

I don’t have the blurb yet. I think I’m on draft 394… But hopefully soon.
In case you haven’t noticed, both covers (The Cupcake Cowboy, too) so far have been changed. They’re brighter and a little more fun than the original ones. Which, that wasn’t the artist’s fault. No, it’s all on me. My vision of what I wanted and the vision of what readers would buy was totally different. So, they had to undergo a makeover and I really like them. The third book in the series, The Tattooed Barista,...
