I’m the road, but I’m planning to write…
It’s that time of week again. Time for word count challenges and working your way and mine up to 10,000 new words by midnight Sunday (9/24/2017). Can you do it? Can I?
I didn’t last weekend. I think I maybe got 200 words, before the spouse came down ill with an infection and fevers. I haven’t written anything all week, either. I’m on my way to the mountains of North Georgia this weekend for a little time away (though the famdamnily is coming with) and hopefully some distraction free (meaning...

I Need a Challenge… How About You?
As I get my ass back in writing mode and as NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) approaches, I thought now would be a good time to start #10KWeekendsforWriters up again.
It didn’t gain much traction the last few times I tried it and who knows if it will this time or not, but I’ve decided to go ahead and open it up for anyone who might want to, including myself. I definitely could use the challenge.
I will be using a timer for word sprints and I will be using Pacemaker.press to track my w...

Hurricane Irma
If you are anywhere in Irma’s path, you’re in my thoughts. I hope you are safe, or safe as you can be if you stayed.
My family stayed. My brother and his family are in the Tampa area. My mom and grandmother are in central Florida between Ocala and the Gulf of Mexico. The spouse has family in the Jacksonville area.
Irma is serious and seemingly pissed off at something and my stomach is in knots with worry for not only my family, but for friends who have decided to ride out the storm.
I lived i...

Bout of Books 20 Tally and What I’m Planning Next
So, my tally for Bout of Books 20 isn’t as high as I’d hoped it would be. I made it through 3 1/2 of the Magic and Mayhem books by Robyn Peterman. I had wanted to make it through all 5, but life happens. I don’t feel too terribly bad because I came into it so late, but when they have Bout of Books 21 in January, I will be totally prepared to put in all 7 days from beginning to end.
But I ‘met’ (on Twitter) some really cool people and found a lot of great books and blogs to follow.
The next r...

Music Monday – Right Here Waiting
My son started his senior year of high school today. It’s a bittersweet day for me. He’s my youngest. So, this will be the last time we have a year together like this. He plans to go to college here in Charlotte and won’t be moving out for a while, but there is a difference between the first day of the last year and the first day of the first year.
And in that vein, I thought I’d see what the #1 song was on the first Monday of my senior year in high school… Richard Marx’s Right Here Waiting....

I’m Participating in Bout of Books 20
I’ve been reading a lot. I will post a list of books that I’ve read soon-ish.
But, in the course of reading a lot, and I’ve started following a lot of readers and other book obsessed people on Instagram and Twitter the last few months and it’s opened my eyes to a lot of fun and awesome books. Through their awesomeness, I’ve learned about read-a-thons (usually late, like this one).
But, I’m joining anyway and next time, I’ll be better prepared to start at the same time a...

Music Monday – Imagine Dragons: Demons
This is for my son who turned 18 yesterday…
He has always been about music that moves him and touches him. No one he goes to school with listens to what he does, be it Imagine Dragons, RED, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, etc… He’s always been his own person, with his own mind. He doesn’t follow the crowd. He’s not about what’s popular or the fad of the day.
When you’re a person like that, you don’t fit in. You’re always on the outside. And I’m so proud of him for being strong enough in himself...

Music Monday – Harry Styles: Sign of the Times
I’m going to confess something here. I was shocked and amazed and completely speechless after watching Harry Styles’ performance on Saturday Night Live a week or so ago. His song Sign of the Times has been stuck in my head ever since. As I was working on this post and went to grab the clip from SNL for today, I found the following performance from a few days ago and decided to use it instead.
I honestly don’t know what it it is, but I’m in love with this song. I truly am. And his personality...

Music Monday – Lady Gaga: Million Reasons
I’ve been listening to a lot of different music lately. And when I say different, I mean, I’m all over the place. I haven’t gotten crazy, but I’ve been stepping into alternate comfort zones with what I’m listening to and what I’m searching for…
Lady Gaga is one of those alternates and differents for me and I’m really enjoying a lot of her music, the older stuff and her new stuff. Her range, her presence, her personality, her fearlessness, her incredible depth and talent…
There are multiple pe...
