Delving into TO BE QUEEN Once More
The time has come for me to go over the copy edits for Eleanor's latest adventure with me, TO BE QUEEN. I have just begun to work on this, and I find myself drawn once more into Eleanor's world. Her voice charms me and keeps me fascinated as it has since the first day I [...]

Traveling and Juggling
As I travel through Mississippi and Alabama, I continue to take in the beauty of this autumn while I also work on my latest projects. A divided mind is part of the writer's life, but when my mind is divided between beautiful things: work, family and friends, I find myself a very fortunate woman.

Eleanor of Aquitaine and Motherly Advice
A bit of motherly advice so cold and practical, it could have come from Eleanor herself.
"Remember this well, daughter, for the time when your mind returns to you, and you have the wit to heed it. Marriage is about the exchange and protection of property. Mistresses come and go, but property is forever."

The Traveling Writer
I am writing and traveling around the Southeast yet again, going to book signings and visiting family and friends. This Saturday I had an amazing time with Arleigh of HistoricalFiction.com fame at her bookstore, the Book Worm. I got to meet readers, and of course, talk about Eleanor and Alais, so it was a delightful [...]

Eleanor of Aquitaine and Crowns
How many crowns did Eleanor of Aquitaine wear in her lifetime? Not counting the coronets for her numerous counties and duchies: two. The Crown of France and the Crown of England.

Beauty and the Muse
Fall has come to coastal NC, which means warm weather without the wilting heat, lapis blue skies a backdrop for the changing leaves. The pine trees don't change, and we have a lot of those, but the ornamental trees fade with the autumn, a lovely combination of yellow, orange and russet. The Muse is quiet surrounded by [...]

Wilmington Book Clubs
I had a wonderful time at yet another book club in Wilmington, NC. Thursday night. My old friend, Alisa Harris welcomed me warmly into her home, as she has done countless times for Oscar nights and theatre parties. But Thursday I got to sit down with her bookclub and talk about Eleanor and Alais, so it was [...]

Facing Death in Fiction
I have never written about war, nor do I expect to, but I have been reading the novel THE WIDOW OF THE SOUTH by Robert Hicks. I am late coming to it, as it was published five years ago, but it has caught my attention. Now that I have begun it, I have difficulty putting it [...]

Why do Writers Keep Writing?
My question for the morning is, Why do writers keep writing? I know that I love it, that in truth I would not be able to stop writing even if (God forbid) my work were to stop selling. But the question I ask myself, and anyone out there listening is: Why? Why do we feel [...]
