Susan Holloway Scott's Newest Book

One of my favorite authors, Susan Holloway Scott, latest novel came out yesterday. The Countess and the King tells the story of James II's reign, and his love for his mistress, Catherine, Countess of Dorchester.  I have never read anything about King James II of England, but Susan made me love Charles II, so I [...:]

Foreign Sales and The Queen's Pawn

I have made two foreign sales so far. As a writer, I don't get involved past signing the contracts. My agent handles everything.

I love that both Germans and Turks will soon read a bit about Eleanor. She rode through both the Empire of Germany and through Constantinople (now Istanbul) on her way to the Second Crusade.  [...:]

Manuscript Locked and New Adventures Beginning

I got the best news while I was away in West Virginia…the manuscript for TO BE QUEEN is locked. Lovely! It is a happy sense of accomplishment to know that all the hard work going into the story of Eleanor's rise to power as Duchess of Aquitaine and as Queen of France can now be [...:]

Bald Knob in Canaan Valley, West VA

Yet again, another beautiful place in West Virginia. The top of this mountain is wonderful. We had to take a chair lift up, and with my fear of heights, it was an adventure. We walked down the mountain later, which was steep, but I enjoyed it more. There were a lot of butterflies to visit [...:]

I am away from my blog this week, because I am in West Virginia. taking in the beauty of the mountains looking for inspiration and finding it. I am making more video blogs, which I will share with you here next week. No indeed, Eleanor never visited West Virginia, but if she had, no doubt [...:]

From Darkness into Light

When darkness rises, from our very bodies in the case of illness or from the burdens of life, as it must for all of us, what is it that keeps us going? For Alais, it was a faith in God and in her duty, her absolute certainty that whatever she did, she always acted to [...:]
