Saturday Delight
Just a little Saturday eye candy to start your weekend!
I have two more chapters to edit (out loud) and then I’m sending book 2 of Orbus Arcana – A Bite In Time – to my beta readers. Vina and I are hoping to have it published by the end of May on Amazon.
Then I’m taking a breather this weekend from my writing. Instead, I’m focusing on my latest online creativity class – Vibration of Color. It’ll be nice to move in a different direction this weekend.
Love and Peace!

Spring is a time for cleaning up and starting fresh. Winter has passed. It’s an awakening to new ideas that were in formation during the dormant winter. I love spring for what it represents – a time of change. I wake up early to sunshine instead of darkness. I have more energy to get things done. Maybe that’s why people feel the need to ‘clean house’ after a long winter.
I’m into goddesses. I collect goddess statues where ever I travel. I love the mystery of ancient religions and philosophies. For an agricultural society, many celebrations evolved around spring. Goddesses were worshiped in hopes they would grant fruitful harvests.
Persephone was the Greek goddess of spring besides being the Greek queen of the underworld. Every spring she would leave the underworld and reunite with Demeter – her mother, and the land would blossom once again.
Here’s a partial list of more ‘obscure’ spring goddesses taken from the list at Goddess Guide:
Anna Perenna (Roman) she was associated with the cycles of the year and renewal. Her main Festival was celebrated on Ides of March.
Artio (Swiss)The bear Goddess who hibernates during the Winter her return heralds the beginning of Spring.
Beiwe (Finnish) A Saami Goddess associated with the fertility of plants and reindeer. Together with her daughter Beiwe-Neia, they turned the hills green so the reindeer could feed.
Blodewedd(Celtic) This Spring Goddess was created by magic from nine spring flowers to be the wife of Llew Llaw. This got around the curse Arianhod had placed upon her son preventing him from taking a human wife.
Dziewanna (Eastern European) Goddess of Spring and Agriculture. She was especially honored by local farmers.
Hare Ke (West African) Goddess of the sweet waters fed by the spring rains that brought fertility back to the land.
Kono-Hana-Sakuya-Hime(Japanese) She is associated with the Springtime and cherry blossom as her name means “Lady who makes the trees bloom.” She is also Goddess of the sacred site Mount Fuji.
Kostroma (Russian) A fertility Goddess and personification of Spring. In Russian mythology she dies at the end of each Spring, only to arise once more at the end of the following winter.
Sita (Hindu) Spring Goddess and Goddesss of agriculture and the earth.
Spring so far has been an incredibly rich time for me – in my writing and creative arts. For me personally, I had three major projects all come to fruition in March! New books releases – For The Bite Of It and Formula For Love, and the formation of a new online creativity class. Let me hear about your spring and what you enjoy most about the season.
Giveaway: What’s your favorite thing to do in spring? Leave me a comment for a chance to win a black t-shirt with the For The Bite Of It book cover from my latest m/m romance! And don’t forget the Rafflecopter giveaway!
My new ‘straight romance’ published by Musa Publishing:

Kenneth believes everything—even love—can be solved logically, until he meets a flower child who challenges him at every turn.
Kenneth Hailey, an uptight conservative mathematician, believes he’s in control. After all, every problem can be solved in a deliberate and logical manner. Even love. When his fiancée dumps him for his best friend, he leaves Manhattan for the West Coast. What better place to forget his past. It’s 1967, and San Francisco is the place to turn on, tune in, and drop out.
But is he ready for Rose Red?
Rose Red, a free-spirited flower child, challenges Kenneth, thrusting him into her world of love-ins, protest rallies, and rock concerts. Kenneth finds himself falling down a rabbit hole, hanging on for dear life.
Old habits die hard, and he retreats, but Rose Red has other plans for him.

Keeping the facts straight
I love writing series. Maybe because I just have too much to say about my characters in one book. Or more likely, I hate to say goodbye to them. I have written series two ways – where the same hero/hero or heroine/hero are the featured characters OR as in my Woodland Village series, the main character is Woodland Village. Each story evolves around a couple that lives and plays in the village. What’s fun about WV is I get to revisit my older characters as they weave through each book. This also lets my readers revisit them as well.
The main challenge with series is keeping the facts straight. Especially if it’s a paranormal with world building. Case in point, my Orbus Arcana series (written with co-author Vina Grey) that features a vampire world with it’s own government, titles and special vampire laws and customs. The first three books feature Vince and John as their relationship progresses through troublesome times. The setting switches from Arizona to Verno as the story progresses. We have secondary characters that will eventually get their own story, or so we hope if readers enjoy the series.
When I step back from writing a series, and then come back to it, I need to refer to my CSI sheet! Character and Story Information Sheet. For Orbus Arcana, the sheet includes the political structure of vampire world, government titles, vampire laws, traits and phrases. And, there is the usual character names, physical and mental traits, familiar phrases they use, family background, fears, motives.
If I want to go more in depth in a character, I will make a CSI sheet per character. But I will talk about this in my next post.
Here is an example of a page of my Orbus Arcana CSI. I add to it as each book is written, and Vina and I discover more interesting details about our characters and their world:
CHARACTER AND STORY INFORMATION
FOR THE BITE OF IT
Orbus Arcana – Hidden Circle
(West) Order of Vesper
(East) Order of Aurora
(South) Order of Auster
(North) Order of Boreās – Verno is the Capital (Alps in Italy/Swiss border)
Vampire Powers:
Glamor
Teleport
Telekinesis
Sense happenings, humans but a select few are real empaths (Angelo)
very physically strong
Live 1000 years or more
Stake to the heart with a crystal stake/or behead and burn the body
Drink liquor but they don’t get drunk except on arrack – the only drink that could intoxicate a vampire.
Vampires react badly to phenyl (Sweet and Low, Aspartame etc.
Self-heal only if well nourished with fresh blood
Vampire World and its government structure:
There are four orders.
Each order is ruled by a king and has its own ruling Council of Lords
The Jurisdictio governs the federal laws over all four orders and is govern by the Ancients – vampires that have lived over 500 years. The Superior Ancient leads the J and his name is Superior Ancient Vaggio.

Wolf in Designer Shoes and Lavender Scarves, Oh My!
Hi everyone! I’m so delighted to be here with my pal Viki today. I’m Tara Lain and I write The Beautiful Boys of Romance. I’m celebrating the release of my new paranormal, gay romance, Wolf in Gucci Loafers. As you might guess, my hero is a werewolf. Half werewolf, actually.
As anyone who reads my books will tell you, my heroes are not your standard alpha males. A lot of them look like beta males but act bad ass, or vice versa. They’re big hunky guys who are actually gentle souls. So a half werewolf/half human guy who also happens to be gay was made for my unique vision of romance heroes! LOL. My main character, Lindsey Vanessen, is flamboyant from his long blond hair and lavender neck scarves to his purple Gucci Loafers. But he’s also a champion athlete — polo, fencing, and karate. On top of that — he’s a top in bed and, if he meets a guy who really turns him on, he’s very aggressive. No wonder my other hero, Seth Zakowsky, who is just a basic, leather wearing, motorcycle riding, alpha male cop, is pretty confused by Lindsey. When you factor in that Lindsey can’t tell anyone about the existence of werewolves or break pack law, you can see the problems I had getting these two all the way to HEA.
Below is a nibble from Wolf in Gucci Loafers which I hope you enjoy. There’s also a Rafflecopter, so please enter to win some fun prizes! And if you happen to read this before April 18th (Friday) at 7PM EDT, please join in my Facebook Party for the launch! Here’s the link. https://www.facebook.com/events/612904912126328/
Rated Adult: Excerpt, Wolf in Gucci Loafers, copyright 2014, Tara Lain
Socialite Lindsey Vanessen wants someone to love who will love him back—an impossibility for a gay, half-human, half-werewolf. Too aggressive for humans, too gay for wolves, and needing to protect the pack from human discovery, Lindsey tries to content himself with life as a successful businessman. But when someone starts kidnapping members of wealthy families, Lindsey meets tough cop Seth Zakowsy—the hunky embodiment of everything Lindsey wants but can’t have.
Seth has never been attracted to flamboyant men. What would the guys in the department think of Lindsey? But intrigue turns to lust when he discovers Lindsey’s biting, snarling passion more than matches his dominant side. It might mean a chance at love for a cop in black leather and a wolf in Gucci loafers.
Lindsey laughed and walked over to the end table beside his couch, grabbed the remote, and pushed Play. Piano music filled the room. “Hmm, the Chopin Piano Concerto for striptease? Maybe not.” He clicked again to Cher lamenting gypsies, tramps and thieves. “Now my orientation is showing.” Another click and La Babs crooned her heart out. Perfect.
He strolled to the center of the room, grabbed his silk neck scarf, and slowly pulled it from around his neck. He fluttered it a couple of times, then gripped it in his teeth as he shrugged out of the green leather jacket and tossed it on top of Seth’s clothes. He’d worn a black form-fitting sweater underneath, which he gripped at the hem, and, as he ground his hips, he pulled it one tantalizing centimeter at a time up his body. For a moment the sweater covered his eyes, but when he peeked out below, Seth stared at him with a glassy gaze and parted lips. He threw the sweater on the pile and, still biting the scarf, ran its ends over his shoulders and pecs.
Seth’s stroking got serious. “Man, you are beautiful. Graceful and slim with all these cool muscles teasing under the surface.”
Lindsey drew his brows together. “Too far below the surface, if you ask me.”
“Nah. Just right.”
Lindsey rested his hands on his waistband and did a big hip roll. As he bumped forward, he unbuttoned the fly and slid the zipper of his black jeans just far enough to let the fat head of his penis peep over. “Peekaboo.”
Seth shook his head. “You are one mass of sexy contradictions.”
As Lindsey lowered the zipper farther over his briefs, Seth pumped harder. Lindsey shook a finger. “Uh-uh, don’t start without me.”
Seth tightened his grip but stopped pumping.
With the zipper down, Lindsey hooked his thumbs in the top of the pants and pulled them over his hips. No sliding—they were too tight. Still holding the scarf between his teeth like a rose, he slid the pants to his ankles, stepped out of his Gucci loafers, and then out of the pants.
His cock strained the elastic on the boxer briefs, and he slid the tip of his finger around and around the exposed head of his dick.
Seth smiled. “Can I do that for you?”
“Very soon.”
He turned his back to the hunk on his bed and looked over his shoulder with a flutter of lashes. Good, he was paying strict attention. Lindsey placed his hands on the small of his own back, slid them into the tight teal briefs, and dragged them over his butt. Two quick twerks, then he slipped them to his feet, kicked with one foot, and they flew through the air and landed on a floor lamp.
Seth laughed. “I’m dyin’ over here. This may be more of a dance than I bargained for.”
Lindsey gazed over his shoulder. “If you don’t like the floor show, sir, we’ll refund your cover charge.”
Seth held up one hand—the other still gripped his cock. “No complaints. Not one.”
Still with his back to Seth, Lindsey pulled the scarf from his teeth and tied a strategic bow. As Babs sang something about being a woman in love, Lindsey raised one arm above his head, twirled on one foot, and presented his cock forward tied in a lavender silk scarf.
Seth sputtered. “I don’t know whether to laugh or come!”
