I'm not the right reader for this book. First, the author opted not to use quotation marks for dialogue, which quite honestly, I hate. What's the point of it? Am I meant to constantly be wondering what's dialogue and what isn't? Quotation marks are us ...more |

The Monsters We Make: Murder, Obsession, and the Rise of Criminal Profiling:
"Based on both the description and the introduction, I thought this book was going to be a deep-dive into what criminal profiling is, how it works, how it often does not work, and why it has so much appeal in pop culture. What this book actually is is"

MAZYWOOD gives us two timelines: Mazelle from the 1920s-1940s, and Mazelle’s grandson and his family in the present day. I loved Mazelle’s story, but it took me a bit to connect with the characters in the present timeline. The content is an unflinchin ...more |

I wish I could dump my emotions here for you all to feel. Words are hard. TRANSCENDENT is one of the best books I’ve read/listened to this year. I would love to put it in everyone’s hands, in everyone’s ears, and in every library, especially now, with ...more |

Hope things are going well. I've gotten a busy schedule for the next few weeks, as baseball season began, the interest in "Three Strikes and You're Dead," has zoomed up. But to be sure, my wife's book club assured me that you don't have to be a baseball fan to enjoy the book.I like seeing it on your "to read' list and look forward to your review.

And I'm honored you found E&P a memorable read! Like you, I also tend to forget books soon after reading them. I like to blame it on the number of books I read, rather than the black hole in my memory! Now and then I read one that sticks with me long after I've read the last page, and I'm humbled you feel that way about one of mine.
Thank you for accepting my friend request - So far I have only read Enemies and Playmates but it was one of my most memorable 2012 reads (mainly because I tend to forget books as soon as I've read them, unless prompted; E&P I can actually remember of my own accord!). I'm really looking forward to reading more of your work and seeing from your reviews what kind of books you enjoy too!

Hi Darcia!Just saw our friend 'Sue' today and she kindly lent me your book "Emenies and Playmates" and am so looking forwarding to reading it! You just blow me away with your stories and I so love it when I win your books! (Haven't been lucky yet, but my fingers are crossed!) I tried for 'Into the Light" to no avail and 'The First Kill". Just wanted you to know that I'm still your most loyal fan. Have a great day. Carol
