Guest Blogger: Sophie Pembroke
Thanks for having me here today!
I’m kicking off the An A to Z of Love blog tour by talking about falling in love with your best friend.
Because, isn’t that what every romantic heroine – heck, every person – wants? To fall in love with someone who can be their best friend, lover and confidant all at once?
But what if your perfect person is already your best friend? And what if, by the time you realise it, it might already be too late?
That’s the problem the heroine of my latest book, Mia Page, faces.
Mia’s been the subject of gossip in the seaside town of Aberarian for half her life, ever since her father ran off with his secretary – and the contents of the town museum safe – when she was fourteen. But Mia loves her hometown; loves working at the A to Z shop, eating seafood with her best friend Charlie at his restaurant, and catching the classic midnight movie at the crumbling Coliseum cinema. And wondering if one day Charlie might be more than a friend.
But everything she loves is suddenly under threat from Charlie’s ex girlfriend, Becky, and her scheme to turn Mia’s beloved Coliseum into a casino. And her plans to try and win Charlie back…
EXCERPT
Ditsy asked, “Now, what are you going to do with your free afternoon?”
“I can stay, if you like,” Mia offered. Ditsy did look tired after her morning’s exertions.
“Not at all. Not a word of it,” Ditsy said. “It’s your afternoon off. And it might be your last chance before the summer rush starts. So, tell me, what have you got planned?”
The summer rush, Mia feared, grew less rushlike by the year. Last summer had been more of an amble. She sighed. “Nothing much. Although I did have some ideas about a large bar of chocolate and an Agatha Christie.”
Ditsy looked scandalized. “An attractive young thing like yourself, with no plans for an afternoon off? Nobody whisking you off for a romantic walk on the beach? Or champagne cocktails at the Grand? What will become of you?”
“I’m meeting Charlie for a tasting and the cinema tonight, if that’s any better,” Mia tried.
“Charlie doesn’t count.” Ditsy’s expression turned suspicious. “Unless there’s something you haven’t been telling me. You haven’t finally persuaded that handsome young man to break his vow of celibacy?”
The excitement in Ditsy’s eyes at the prospect was profoundly disturbing. “He’s a chef, not a priest, Ditsy. And it’s not a vow, as such. It’s understandable he’s reluctant to get into another relationship after Becky.” She gave Ditsy a meaningful look, and the older woman looked suitably sheepish as she remembered exactly whose niece it was who had brought Charlie to town to start a new life then left him there alone with a restaurant, a fallen-down cottage and a broken heart. Not to mention the ways she’d made Mia’s life hell when they were teenagers.
“Besides, Charlie and I are just friends.” Mia quashed down the small part of her that sometimes–very occasionally, mind–wondered what would happen if that wasn’t the case.
“Which is my point!” Ditsy said, raising a finger in triumph. “When are you going to find someone who isn’t just a friend?”
“In Aberarian? Probably never.” Mia sighed. She loved her hometown and had fought hard to stay there despite the decline in business, the gossips and the jellyfish. But it wasn’t exactly bursting at the seams with eligible bachelors. Which was another thing. She didn’t want Charlie–or anyone else for that matter–to fall into a relationship with her through lack of alternative options. She was worth a little more than that, thank you.
*****
Everyone’s talking about Mia Page. Again.
Mia Page has been the subject of gossip in Aberarian for half her life, ever since her father ran off with his secretary–and the contents of the local museum safe–when she was fourteen.
Still, Mia loves her hometown, loves working at the A to Z shop, eating seafood with her best friend Charlie at his restaurant, catching the classic midnight movie at the crumbling Coliseum cinema. And if she ever wonders if things might be even better if Charlie were more than just a friend, well, it’s only an idle thought in a lonely moment. After all, friendship always trumps romance, doesn’t it? And she’s never been one to rock the boat.
But everything she loves is suddenly under threat from Charlie’s ex- girlfriend, Becky, and her plans to turn Mia’s beloved Coliseum into a casino, transforming the sleepy seaside town forever. As Mia tries to pull the people of Aberarian together to save the town they adore, she starts to find her own place in the community, a family of sorts, and maybe even love. Until her father suddenly reappears, and people start asking what he wants to take from them this time…
WARNING: Some sexual scenes. Also contains seafood.

Sophie Pembroke has been writing romance for years, ever since she stayed up all night reading Mills and Boon novels as part of her English degree at Lancaster University. She loves to set her contemporary romance stories in the places she has lived – from the wilds of the Welsh mountains, to the gentile humour of the English country village, or the heat and tension of a London summer. She also has a tendency to make her characters kiss in castles.
Currently, she makes her home in Hertfordshire, with her husband and daughter. She writes love stories in her little spare room office, while drinking too much tea and eating homemade cakes. Or, when things are looking very bad for her heroes and heroines, white wine and dark chocolate.
Sophie keeps a blog at www.SophiePembroke.com, which should be about romance and writing, but is usually about cake and castles instead.

A Hero’s Blog Hop
I admit it, most of the heroes I write into my stories are tall, muscular types that a large percentage of women would swoon over – typical romance heroes. Think Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Chris Hemsworth… you get the idea. I write these types of guys because I swoon over them too, and it’s much easier to write about a hunky hero if you think he’s hot, too. After all, if you don’t love him, your heroine probably won’t, and nor will your readers.
Despite all that, in my latest release, which is also my first ever novella, I have not gone for the typical romance hero. Damien, the male lead does not look like any of the male celebrities I fancy, nor does he look like he should be gracing the cover of a magazine. But I love him anyway. Why? Because it’s so damn hard not to! He may be of average height and average build, with long curly hair and glasses, but he’s still uber cute. He’s super smart, and loves books and travel – he even works in a bookshop! He also has the most adorable dimples, is shy, and loves chocolate. He may not be a typical romance hero, but he is still totally and utterly swoonworthy.
Do you love him yet? I want you to, but not too much, because he’s mine!
Or at least, he would be if he was a real person, and y’know, I didn’t already have a boyfriend.
Want to fall in love with him for yourself? Then grab my first ever erotic romance novella, Off the Shelf, which is available at a bargain price on Amazon UK and Amazon US.

Smutlympics Snog – Farm Hand
I don’t write much sport or exercise related smut (though I’m thinking about it, now!), but walking is exercise, right? So that’s why I’ve included a snog from my story, Farm Hand, which is part of The Look of Lust anthology, published by Xcite Books. It’s the story of a woman out for a walk in the countryside, and when she heads through a farm on her route, she catches sight of the super hot farmer.
‘So,’ he said, ‘why were you watching me? Are you some kind of pervert?’
Wetness pooled in her pussy at his stern tone. It gave Ramona a hunch, and she decided to act on it.
‘And what if I am?’ she said, quirking an eyebrow at him.
‘Well then. Perhaps we’d better give your filthy mind something to think about.’
He reached down, hooking his fingers under the edge of the offending T-shirt and slid it up Ramona’s body, over her head and dropped it to the floor. Her black lacy bra was revealed in all its glory.
‘That’s a very sexy bra, young lady. Especially for going hiking. Now, I can’t help but wonder if your panties match.’
Kneeling, he deftly unlaced her heavy boots and removed them. Then he made short work of her socks. Finally, he straightened. Even on his knees, his height put him in a perfectly kissable position. He obviously thought so too.
Reaching a large hand up, he slipped it behind her head and pulled her to him. As their lips crushed together, she sucked in a hasty breath through her nostrils. Big mistake. His fresh sweat, tinted with cologne made her feel heady.
As he plunged his tongue between her lips, Ramona’s senses went into overdrive. Not only did he look, sound, feel and smell delicious; he tasted it too. He’d obviously been chewing gum or mints as the tongue sliding sensuously against her own was pleasantly minty. She moaned into his mouth.
He pulled back. ‘Horny?’
‘What do you think?’
‘I think I’d like to find out for sure. And then there’s the mystery of the matching underwear.’
His hands went to her waist and made short work of the button and zipper of her hiking trousers. Then he pushed her gently onto her back and pulled them down.
Also, as part of this post, I’m offering a prize! If you’re in the UK, you can win a copy of the Going Down anthology and some swag. If you’re based elsewhere, you can win a $10 All Romance eBooks Gift Card. All you have to do is fill in the below Rafflecopter for your chance/s to win!

Raising the Bar – Coming Soon!
Look at the sexy cover art that hit my inbox today! Raising the Bar is a super hot m/f erotica short story, which will be released as part of Decadent Publishing’s The Edge line. I’m super excited to be working with them and am determined to write a story for their popular 1Night Stand series, too.
Here’s the blurb:
When Kayleigh takes a gap year before starting University, she decides she’s going to keep away from guys and just concentrate on having fun and experiencing life. She’s going through a lot of batteries, but she’s happy and satisfied. That is, until she gets to a new place on her travels and meets her new colleague, Luciano. The scorching hot Spaniard soon has Kayleigh’s knickers in a twist – literally – and the time they spend together seriously raises the bar for her sex life. How will any other man ever compare?
I don’t have a release date yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as I do. In the meantime, I’m just going to drool over the cover…

Totty Tuesday – Double Trouble
Good news! Totty Tuesday can continue! Someone on Twitter let me know that when you search in Flickr you can select the option for Creative Commons Licensed stuff, which basically means you can use it, as long as you cite the source. And, as you’ll see, when you hover over this pic, you can see who took it and where I got it from. I basically signed up for a Flickr account and you can grab HTML code direct from photos and paste it into your blog. So, although I won’t have the wealth and variety of photos that I had before, I can still grab some hot celebrity pics and use them without fear of being sued.
So, here you go. Hotter than hot! Stars of Magic Mike, Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer. Sexy, huh? And you know what? I think Alex is hotter, even though he’s younger than me (gasp!). Something to do with the look in his eyes, I think. *swoons*

Sunday Snog – On the Prowl

Here’s a snog-tastic snippet from my erotic anthology, On the Prowl. It contains three naughty stories, including threesomes, uniform fetish and hot sex in a warehouse…
As they motored to their destination the three of them continued their extended foreplay session. Blake had clearly decided he hadn’t gotten enough action in the bar and pulled Jolene in for a kiss. One hand cupped her chin, whilst the other crept underneath her skirt, and then closer and closer to her swollen folds.
As if that wasn’t enough stimulation, suddenly another hand joined Blake’s under her skirt and nudged her thighs apart. Then, as if an unspoken signal had passed between them, both guys touched her where she wanted it most. Someone pinched her engorged clitoris, whilst a finger entered her saturated tunnel, followed swiftly by another one. With little regard for the taxi driver, Jolene moaned into Blake’s mouth as she was pleasured. It felt to Jolene like there
were hands everywhere; in her hair, on her clit, in her pussy, on her breasts… she was in heaven.
Soon enough, they reached their destination. Notes were flung at the driver as they piled out of the car and onto the pavement. Barely taking in her surroundings, Jolene followed Blake’s lead as he walked up a garden path, rummaging around in his pocket for his keys.
Once inside, Pete took her hand and led her into the front room as Blake shut the door behind them. His hands slipped under her skimpy top and tugged it up over her head, then dropped it on the floor. He kissed her again, his tongue sliding into her mouth as his hands reached around to remove her bra. Suddenly more hands were at her back, easing down the zip of her skirt, pulling the garment down to her feet then gently lifting one foot, followed by the other
until she stood in nothing but her high heels.
Blake, still kneeling behind her, whistled in appreciation. He grabbed her ass cheeks and caressed them, shuffling forward for a better look.
You can get your hands on On the Prowl here.
Also, don’t forget to head back to Victoria’s site and see what other luscious lip to lip action other authors have posted. Yum!
Sad News
Hey everyone, this is just a quick post to let you know that due to this article by Roni Loren about photos and copyright, etc, I’ve had to take down a load of my hot guy photos. I may reinstate some of the posts if I can find photos I’m allowed to use (I’ve already done that with some of my posts) but there are so many that I just don’t have time to sit and search for new photos at the moment. Plus, sadly, most of the photos I am allowed to use aren’t as sexy! Boo

Guest Blog: Savannah Chase
Let The Beat Move You
I want to start off by saying thank you to the wonderful Miss Lucy Felthouse for hosting me today on her blog. It is an honor to be here.
You know when you turn on the radio, pop in your favorite CD or even press play on your MP3 player and the beat of the music gets you moving. All of a sudden you have all this energy and feel alive. You want to dance. Unknowingly you sway your hips and the beats makes your body move, or tap your foot as you work away doing whatever you do.
I’ve always had a passion for music, ever since I was a kid. Growing up I was introduced to a variety of genres of music and I embraced it. Even now I listen to everything, and when people ask me what exactly I like in music I can’t tell them a specific genre. I’m very eclectic.
Music is my love, just like writing and books. It’s the breath of life for me, my addiction, and my obsession.
So you probably wonder how does my listening to music tie into me being a writer.
Well I listen to music all the time while I write. I’m one of those people who do not require quiet to work. Quiet bothers me. That doesn’t mean I want total chaos and noise all around me. I just would rather have music on. So if you don’t already know I write erotic romance. So Savannah are you saying you listen to dirty music because you write naughty stories? LOL.
No? Not all the time…
As I mentioned I listen to it all…Recently I’ve started to develop playlists for certain moods.
For example I have a playlist called SEX for when I am working on love scenes in my stories…Some of the songs on the list are
Jeremiah- 5 Senses
Kings of Leon- Sex on Fire
Blake McGrath- The Night (Only Place To Go
Kelly Rowland- Motivation
The Weekend- High For This
The list is fairly long but all the songs are sexy and meant to inspire me while I write those hot, delectable sex scenes.
I also have a Classical List which is for the romantic scenes when I need to get into the headspace. Something that is the opposite of writing about love making or just raw passionate, table tossing, wall banging sex.
Yiruma- River Flows Through You
Bach – Double Violin Concerto in D minor 2nd movement, Largo
Apocaliptica- Beautiful
Apocaliptica- Fade To Black
For me music evokes emotions, and I’m very specific to the kind of music I listen to when I write. If I need to write dark I listen to heavier songs that have a dark tone too them. They seem to help the words just flow through my fingers. There are times when I look back and wonder if I wrote this because it just turned out so well.
My latest release is called Six Degrees of Passion, and it is a collection of BDSM lifestyle flashers that were written by six very different authors. When I was working on my stories for this collection I was listening to a lot of Linkin Park. Their music has changed with each album and the one song that really inspired me is called Powerless.
Here is a little bit about the collection…
Imagine a world full of boundless passion, where the intimate touch of a man or woman and the desperate cravings pent up inside, leave you breathless with anticipation. Passion and desire come in many forms, and some of the most powerful moments shared between consenting adults can include aspects of the BDSM lifestyle. When you love someone with all your heart and soul, will the passion you feel give you enough to submit total control? The journey into the lifestyle is uninhibited, complete with trust and understanding, and few of us ever experience these heightened levels of joy.
Join six talented writers as they bring you varying aspects of the BDSM lifestyle in sizzling pieces of flash fiction. These snippets are designed to draw you into the heat of passion-filled nights, with unbridled looks at highly erotic sessions. Included are Kiki Howell’s tales of the paranormal, where vampires and witches fight for the very souls of humanity and each other. Cassandre Dayne’s scorching stories of passion stretch the boundaries of our secret fantasies. Benjamin T. Russell’s captivates with intense glimpses into a Dom’s understanding of a submissive’s deepest needs. In addition, Savannah Chase has a sensual, soul wrenching and yet gripping way of sharing the powerful intimacy experienced between women. Abby Hayes gives you highly charged and quick-witted tales of kink between multiple partners that will keep you guessing to the end. Finally, DH Black, will leave you shuddering with her gritty and sometimes brutal aspects of showing the darker side of BDSM.
Each tale entertains while leaving the reader trembling for another installment. Indulge. Fantasize. Delve into the darker side of passion…

Guest Blog: Simon Lipson
I thought it might be apt, given that Lucy arranged this blog tour (via Writer Marketing Services), to give my impressions of the tour so far and pass on some tips.
Tip one. Don’t do it. My fingers are sore from writing guest blogs and answering interview questions, my brain steaming with the effort of finding interesting things to say, my eyes raw from re-reading my book to select some apposite extracts. And there are still a few more to do. Aargh! Maybe I made the mistake of opting for the month long tour – 20 blogs; a week might have been better…or a day.
Now I don’t want to put Lucy out of business. On the contrary. She has put the whole thing together with speed and expertise and her attention and advice have been first class throughout. And, being serious for a moment, if you’ve got the time and the stamina, visiting 20 interesting and influential bloggers’ sites has got to be good for getting the message out there about your book. But it’s not a walk in the park.
So, here’s how I’ve tackled my blog tour.
I started with the hosts who wanted to interview me, figuring this would ease me gently into the tour ahead of the more onerous task of writing guest blogs. Four sets of questions to which I knew the answers. Come on. What could be…? Oh, I see, you want me to actually think about something rather than give pat answers? Ok, fair enough. How many questions have you got…10? 10?! You’re kidding. In the end, answering 10 well thought out and often penetrative questions turned out to be quite tricky and time-consuming, albeit, as most interviewees will confirm, there’s nothing better than talking about yourself.
On to guest posts. How many? 12? 12?! That’s harder than writing the bloody book! I tried to write something apposite to each site, but as so many of them had similar themes and readerships (mostly within the erotica, fantasy & romance genres) I soon began to struggle. I could have copied and pasted, I suppose, but I think it only right to come up with something different for each host. After all, they’ve been good enough to invite me to say something, so I owe it to them to be as original as I can. It also occurs to me – albeit this was not a factor – that many followers of one erotica site might well follow another on which I’d also posted, and they wouldn’t want to read the same old stuff again.
Finally, excerpts. Four hosts asked me to select some passages from the book. This was certainly the easiest element of the tour. I’ve already read extracts at various festivals and libraries so had a good idea about what to select. Even so, in limiting these to around 1000 words, the key question became ‘where do I start and finish?’. It was important to ensure each excerpt was as self-contained as possible, but I ended up providing short explanatory notes where necessary.
There you have it. Not too bad, really. And I’m nearly done. I should stop complaining, go and bathe my fingers in salt water and get back on the case tomorrow. Without wishing to over-egg the pudding, if you’re thinking of going on a blog tour, Lucy should be your first port of call (have I earned my discount now Lucy?).

Be Inspired Meme
Thanks to Lily Harlem for tagging me! Now, I have to answer the following questions, and then tag five more lovely and fabulous bloggers to do the same.
1. What is the name of your book?
I haven’t written a full length novel (yet – I’m starting one in the next couple of weeks!), but my longest work to date is my novella, Off the Shelf, so I’m going to choose that one.
2. Where did the idea for your book come from?
Somewhere in the depths of my brain. Xcite Books asked me to write an erotic romance novella for The Secret Library, so I accepted then started thinking what I could write about. I’d always fancied writing something where the couple meets in a bookshop, but I knew there would have to be some conflict or something to keep them apart to make the story a novella rather than a short story. So I made the female lead into a travel writer, meaning she wouldn’t be around much. Plus, she’s terrified of rejection and the male lead, Damien, is shy. So I sure made it hard work for them!
3. In what genre would you classify your book?
Erotic romance.
4. If you had to pick actors to play your characters in a movie rendition, who would you choose?
I had to think about this one for a while, because the male lead, Damien, while totally hot, is not your typical romance hero. He’s kind of nerdy, has long curly hair and glasses. So while I couldn’t find anyone that looked exactly like him, someone that came fairly close is Taylor Kitsch. The film company would have to ‘geek him up’ a bit – okay, a lot – but he’s gorgeous, and so is Damien, so he’s perfect.
Annalise would be played by Elizabeth Banks. And wow, wouldn’t those two look good together!
5. Give us a one-sentence synopsis of your book.
She’s terrified of rejection, he’s shy; will they ever get it on?
6. Is your book published?
Yes, it was published by Xcite Books. You can buy it on its own as an eBook, or as a paperback with two other novellas.
7. How long did it take you to write your book?
I honestly have no idea. I don’t write full time and I don’t write every day, so things can take me weeks if I’m only writing a few hundred words here and there.
8. What other books within your genre would you compare it to? Or, readers of which books would enjoy yours?
I’d compare it to the other books in The Secret Library range, as they’re all erotic romance novellas.
9. Which authors inspired you to write this book?
None, really. I came up with the idea myself and just wrote it.
10. Tell us anything that might pique our interest in your book.
What, Taylor Kitsch playing the lead wasn’t enough?
Okay, well the easiest and most effective way is to let you read some of it. So here’s an excerpt from the beginning:
Pushing the ‘on’ button, Annalise moved the vibrator down between her parted legs and eased it inside her eager pussy. As the ears of the Rampant Rabbit slid into position on her clit, she groaned with pleasure and rolled her hips, desperate to get more delicious friction. Then she pressed another button on the toy’s control panel to ramp up the power another notch. As much as she’d prefer a slower build-up to her orgasm, she just didn’t have the time. She had to leave for the airport in a couple of hours, and she hadn’t even packed her case. A quick knee-trembler would have to suffice.
As the vibrator buzzed away between her thighs, Annalise closed her eyes and tried to empty her mind of anything but the pleasure she was experiencing. After a brief flirtation with the thought that she’d much prefer a hot man between her legs bringing her to orgasm, Annalise simply enjoyed the feeling of her impending climax. The busily-vibrating bunny ears pressed tightly against her sensitive flesh soon had her pussy fluttering. Then, without warning, Annalise was quickly yanked onto her pleasure plateau and immediately pushed off, leaving her writhing and shouting on the bed as a powerful orgasm overtook her body.
Annalise arched her back as waves of pleasure crashed over her, and her cunt clenched and grabbed at the toy buried deep inside. Her swollen clit throbbed, quickly becoming too sensitive for the unrelenting stimulation from the vibrator. Switching it off and pulling out, Annalise dropped the toy onto the mattress by her side and gave a satisfied moan as she rode out the remainder of her climax. Finally, when the twitches and spasms had abated and her heart rate and breathing were almost back to normal, Annalise grabbed the Rabbit and rolled across to the side of her bed where the toy box was kept. She made short but thorough work of cleaning it, then reluctantly put it in its case, popped it into the small bedside cupboard and shut the door.
Annalise hated leaving her favourite toy behind when she went away, but she just wasn’t brave enough to take it with her. She usually only took carry-on luggage, and the very thought of the distinctive shape of the Rampant Rabbit popping up on the screen of the airport scanners made her shudder. It would be bad enough for the staff to see it on their monitors, knowing what it was and giving her knowing looks; imagine what would happen if they decided to check inside her bags! She would want to curl up and die of embarrassment, she just knew it.
No, it was much better off staying here. She could make do with her right hand for a few days. Even better, she might even meet someone. Annalise smiled. She’d had some pretty steamy encounters on her travels. The desk clerk in Dubai, the gym manager in Turkey, the waiter in Corfu…
Annalise shook herself. This wasn’t the time to let her mind wander down that path and get herself all worked up. She had to go and get ready now. There’d be plenty of time for daydreaming later, when she was in long and boring queues, and on the flight.
Thanks Lily. I am going to tag:
