#Damon Thursday (Formally Known as Thankful Thursday)
Just kidding.
We're still thankful.
Thankful that Vampire Diaries is new tonight AND that I have two winners for the Visitor's Guide to Mystic Falls!
Thankful to all of YOU for entering this contest!
So many of you!
And I loved hearing about your favorite characters!
I say after our love-er-ly trio:

Smokin'
Miss Witchtastic Bonnie got the most votes. YAY witches!
I'm particularly pleased with this because my next book following SEA is a fantasy starring guess what's? YEP! Witches!

Bonnie, can you please cook up a spell that will make that whole Damon-snapped-Jeremy's-Neck thing go away? Kthankx.
Without further adieu here are our lovely winners (their comments):

First off congrats on the nom! :D
Must be a wonderful feeling (:

My favorite character would have to be
Bonnie because she may come off like a
bitch
but she's just trying to do what's right for the town. ^_^
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

Friday Five! Visitor's Guide to Mystic Falls Giveaway, Cybils, O.C. Bookfest!
1. Sea was nominated for a 2010 Cybils Award! This fills me with happy. There were two things I really really wanted before Sea came out, 1 was for it to be an IndieNext Pick and 2 was for it to be nominated for a Cybils Award. Because I love independent bookstores and I LOVE book bloggers! So this means a lot to me.
Sea was nominated in the first hour. Which is too cool. Thanks, Twitter for telling me about it, and thanks book bloggers for existing. Without you nobody other than my mom would know about my little blue book. You ROCK!
2. I wore my monkey pajama bottoms to the bus stop this morning. The monkey is even wearing cherry sunglasses. I blame Target and my utter lack of shamelessness.
3. Orange County Children's Book Festival is THIS Sunday. I'm going to be there. So are a lot of other authors. I'm reading and talking and giving away nifty things like tank-tops and posters at 11:15 a.m., and then signing copies of Sea and Visitors Guide to Mystic Falls Vampire Diaries immediately following my talk. Please come and see me! I'm flying there and back in one day. I am ambitious. Also, I like to fly. They have Starbucks right by the Southwest Gate you know. And who doesn't love that at O'Dark Thirty?
4. Speaking of Visitors Guide to Mystic Falls would you like to win a copy?
I thought so!
I have TWO to give away here complements of Smart Pop Press.
To enter to win just include your name, your email address, and YOUR FAVORITE MYSTIC FALLS CHARACTER in comments and I will pick two anonymous fans! I might even throw in some Sea goodies.
I'm going to see fellow contributor Kiersten White--you may have heard of Paranormalcy ? On Monday. So they might be signed by BOTH of us!
5. Damon. Put your silver knife down and get back to what you do best. Wooing Elena. You're hot, but even your hotness levels are getting grating when you are being so. stupid. (But the pictionary bit? Adorable.)
Okay, that's it!
Hope to see you Sunday in the O.C.

Banned Books Week: "There is a thing about burning..."
Blogger Jeremy West invited me to do a guest post on censorship, a matter close to my heart after my spring musical was shut down senior year of high school by a complaining parent who hadn't read the play.
We fought back in a most brilliant way.
As we're doing now.
I'm so proud to be a part of the greater YA community who keep up the good fight against book banning.
You can feel my inner RAWR here:
http://www.novelthoughtsblog.com/2010/09/heidi-kling-speaks-out.html
What are you going to do to support banned books?

"There must be something in books, things we can't imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don't stay for nothing."
- Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451, Part 1

Friday Five!
1. "The Geek Shall inherit the earth." From NYT Film Review about the Facebook founder. Looks intriguing though he sounds like a total asshat. But hey, without FB we'd never get to count our ex's wrinkles (okay, I stole that from Josh Berk) or raise virtual farm animals, right?
2. Romance. I'm going to a talk about it tomorrow with my new critique group YA That's Why who boast both sweatshirts and a slogan. You know I'm a sucker for things like that. We do activities like this talk tomorrow a...

Know that beautiful blurb on the cover of SEA?
Well, it was written by author Sarah Ockler whose fantastic novel TWENTY BOY SUMMER is under attack for its content. Instead of doing nothing, my original debut group The Debs are doing something. Something Awesome.
Morris Winning author (FLASH BURNOUT) L.K. Madigan writes (via Saundra Mitchell -THE VESPERTINE- blog) explains it best here:
My darling Debs have banded together in DebSolidarity to support one of our members, Sarah Ockler. Sarah is the...

Thankful Thursday-Got Sea Poster?
1. My health. I keep looking at the yellowing bruise in the crook of my left arm where that IV was last week thinking how lucky I am that I'm okay. How lucky my family is that I had vertigo and not, like they first thought, some sort of a blood vessel burst or tear in my brain. In the last week I've heard about two toddlers with life-threatening cancer. Toddlers. There before the grace of God go we.
2. SUMMER. It's finally arrived. Just as school starts. Okay. I'll take it.
3. Katniss Everdeen....

How Mockingjay Nearly Killed Me
Okay. It didn't kill me, but landed me in the hospital.
True story.
This is how it all went down, and if it didn't have a good ending, I wouldn't be telling you in the first place, so here goes. I attended the Kepler's release party, which included archery, pizza, and many books.
Here is me taking a shot of the bulls eye.

Yes, it is my new FB picture, so shoot me. (Couldn't help it, after the few days I've had I deserve a couple Fozzie Bear jokes.)
So the party...
