New Cover- Wolf Nip

Wolf Nip

Granite Lake Wolves, Book 6

Cat got your tongue?

Tessa Williams is looking to make her mark outside the family business, and the unusual landlocked paddle wheeler she spots in Haines, Alaska, strikes her as the perfect location. Only the owner is being difficult, refusing to sell. Still, she’s sure that replacing her written queries with a little in-person charm is all she’ll need to shortly have her Eco-tour B&B on the road to success.

Local wolf-slash-owner of said vessel, Mark Weaver, isn’t hanging on to the landmark building out of spite. There are more reasons for holding back the sale than are easily explained on paper. A face-to-face meeting to resolve the matter only confounds it—when Mark recognizes Tessa as his mate.

But she’s a cat…and cats don’t do insta-mates.

The sexual attraction between them isn’t in question, just everything else. He wants her. She wants twue wuv. His wolf can’t figure out what the holdup is. Her cat thinks the entire situation, and the pack, are rather amusing.

Somewhere in here is the beginning of a beautiful relationship—if they don’t drive each other mad.

Warning: One hyper cat, one laid-back wolf. Inappropriate use of permanent markers, and a heaping side dish of cat/dog jokes. Shenanigans (read: nookie) in front of a roaring fire. Spiced liberally with sarcasm. Enjoy!

Cool New Book- BEYOND SHAME by Kit Rocha

A dangerous world of sex, lust and violence…

~~**~~

There are some writers who just ‘fit’ my reading tastes. This book? Not only fits, it’s like a feast where I can eat as much as possible and never feel that after-effect of pain/regret.

I have a serious addiction to new author Kit Rocha and the world she’s created in her new series Beyond. Book one is now available, and Beyond Shame has it all. It’s sexy, intriguing and sucks me in every time I accidentally open the pages just to peek at one little thing. I’m not surprised, really, because Kit is actually the new pen name of an old favourite of mine in the paranormal world, Moira Rogers, whose Southern Arcana series is like crack. I swear those books leap off my bookshelf and attack me at times, forcing me to re-glom through the entire world-to-date on a regular basis.

Beyond continues their addictive writing style, only in a dystopian society, no paranormal, thus the new pen name. But a rose by any other name is just as compelling, and I encourage you to check this out if you haven’t already. It’s on the hot side i.e. sizzling, multiple partners in the bed, but the sex isn’t for sheer sex sake or ‘insert Tab A into slot B’ emotionless fucking. It’s a part of the world, which makes it an excellent erotic story.

~~**~~

All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.

The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.

Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to the gang, and to a world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.

Silver Mine, now available

Silver Mine

Takhini Wolves, Book 2

If a tree falls in the forest, duck…

Life in isolation is the safest place for Chase Johnson, a crossbreed who doesn’t know which form he’ll assume next—cougar or wolf. Once a year, his unelected position as spokesman for the Yukon outcasts forces him to visit civilization. This time he runs across someone unexpected. She’s not his mate, but she pushes all the right buttons.

It’s taken years for Shelley Bradley to gather the courage to return to her home pack. In spite of being the lowest of the low—a shifter who can’t shift—she’s determined to make a place for herself as the Whitehorse locals’ new vet-slash-doctor.

There’s definite electricity between her and Chase, but sex with fellow shifters and the inherent mind games got old a long time ago. Ignoring him seems best. When he shows up at her office with a wound that won’t heal, she’s stuck—yet drawn to solve this medical mystery.

As they journey deep into outcast territory in search of answers, their powerful sexual attraction crumbles her resistance. But time is of the essence. If a cure can’t be found before his human and cougar succumb to his injury, he—and others like him—will die.

Warning: Contains a silver-tongued, hairy-chested, lean-muscled Alpha who’s got what it takes to lead in the wilderness and in the bedroom. Yeah, I know…not really much of a deterrent, is it? Throw in continuing territorial wars and a domestic cat. Stir and enjoy the chaos.

This book has been getting some great reviews–a Top Pick from RT magazine, awesome Publishers Weekly review, five star at Book Lovers and other places. I’m so pleased that readers are enjoying something a little MORE than the Granite Lake wolfies. It’s a fun challenge to end up with the light-hearted humour of the GLW and branch out into a little more serious topics at the same time.

I hope you enjoy!

SOLD! Wolf Nip

The latest in the Granite Lake Wolves series will be coming your way in February. I had a blast writing this story, which is about the ‘not hero’ of book five, and a certain best friend of the heroine of book five.

Yes, if you read Wolf Line you’ll have a better idea who the hero and heroine are for Wolf Nip. And come on…Wolf NIP? *swings massive hint-hammer and knocks readers off their feet*

I hope you’ll be pleased to know there’s another story to come for the wolfies.

Mid-month Update

Partly so I can believe that I’m actually moving forward!

What I’m writing:

-Six Pack Ranch #5. If all goes well this will be out sometime next May/June, so that shows how far ahead of time I’m working right now. Tentatively I have the word Rebel in the title…we’ll see if that sticks, but so far it’s working well.  I don’t want to give spoilers since book 4 isn’t out yet, so that’s all I’m going to say right now.

-Preparing for the release of SILVER MINE. There has been a lot of interest and positive response to the second in the Takhini series, and I’m so pleased. The series is like the best of both worlds to me–there’s some teeth in terms of substance, but tons of time for the light-hearted, crazy antics of the wolfies. SILVER MINE is out September 11. I need to write up a few more blog posts to share with people.

What I’m waiting for:

-Cover for HIGH RISK and cover copy. I’m longing to share this with you, but since it’s not out until March I’ll just have to be patient. I guess.

-Edits on HIGH RISK

-official confirmation on another book–not telling you until it happens! :D

What’s next:

-after the cowboys are done I’ll be returning to the north with book 3 in the Takhini Wolves series. Then the next in Adrenaline, then another cowboy

-I’ve decided to start on a sekrit project. I haven’t had one of those in a while, and they always invigorate me. Will you like it? OH YES! :D But I can’t tell you more because…it’s SEKRIT, silly!

In other news:

-no, I’m not starting a street team any time soon. I’m cutting back in some ways on social media (except for my twitter addiction) to keep up with the writing I want to do AND the house building AND enjoying family time. I love that there are readers who are sharing that they enjoyed my books. Thank you for that. It means the world to me.I simply have to keep my life limited to make it enjoyable and keep moving forward.

-next public outing: well, right now the next official event I’ll be attending is the RT conference in Kansas City next spring (2013) I do have a few other things in the works–ie if I end up traveling somewhere on holidays I’ll let you know ahead of time and see if I can set up a book signing at a local store.

That’s it for now. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments and I’ll add the answers!

Black Gold- print release

With Samhain as my main publisher, digital releases tend to be the “WOW-new story, it’s here, it’s here,’it’s here…” release days.

But the longer I write, the more I realize that’s not very fair, because there are a lot of print only readers still. Part of the reason I love working with Samhain is is because my digital works DO go to print–either as anthologies for the shorter works or… like BLACK GOLD.

I love this book. It was a challenge to write in some ways because it’s enough like the Granite Lake novellas and yet it’s twice as long–and that makes the actual writing a whole new thing. Plot twists increase, characters get more time to develop–it was a challenge that I wanted to try and when I succeeded, I was hooked. With the second book in this series coming out next month, the third on the writing schedule, I can honestly say that this series was a a turning point in my paranormal writing.

I still love the Granite Lake novellas, and there will be another coming in Feb 2013, but the richness of the world in the Takhini series makes me smile. I hope you’ll celebrate with me as my ninth print book hits the shelves. No matter how you end up reading it–digital or print!

Black Gold

Takhini Wolves, Book 1

Their wolves are howling at the moon. Their human halves are on different planets.

Lone wolf Shaun Stevens’s automatic response to the words “happily ever after”?Kill me now. Yet with all his friends settling down he’s begun to think there may actually be something to this love-and-roses crap.

One thing’s for sure: his dream mate will have to out-cuss, out-spit and out-hike him. So he never expected the one to push his forever button would be a blue-blooded Southern debutante with a voice as dark and velvety as her skin.

When Gemmita Jacobs steps off the plane in Whitehorse, Yukon, it’s about more than her caribou research project. It’s her declaration of independence from an overprotected upbringing. Except there’s something in the air she can’t quite define—something that unexpectedly rouses her mating instincts.

Moments after their eyes lock, the deed is done—and done thoroughly. When the pheromone dust settles, though, all the reasons they don’t belong together become painfully clear.

It’s enough to make a wolf learn a whole new set of cuss words…

Warning:  Two strong wolves getting exactly what they deserve. Includes wilderness nookie, shifters being naughty in public places, the Midnight Sun as a canopy for seduction and grizzly shifters on the loose. Oh, and don’t forget the sarcasm.

#FriIceCreamParty

Ready for some fun?

~~~Rules and guidelines~~~
We’ve talked about it before… and now we’re doing it!
We need a little fun to round out the summer. Join @TheaHarrison and @VivianArend on Fridays in August for a chance to win giveaways and more importantly—have an excuse to eat ice cream.
Yum!
How it works:
You pick up the ice cream of your heart’s delight and come out to Twitter on Fridays throughout the month of August. Send out tweets regarding your delectable treat using the hash tag #FriIceCreamParty. (That’s # Fri Ice Cream Party all in one chunk. Hmm, chunks…)
Since we have readers/friends in all time zones, join in when you can.  Vivian will be on Twitter on Fridays between: 1-3 pm PDT (late night noshing with the European crew!) Thea will be on Twitter on Fridays between: 5 to 7 pm MDT (which is 7 to 9 pm EST).
On each Saturday, Thea and Viv will go back through the tweets for that Friday and randomly pull two names to receive an ebook of their choice from our backlists.
September 1 we’ll go back through ALL the tweets for the month and pull two grand-prize winners. One for a Thea book pack, one for a Viv book pack. (Winner’s choice of ebook or print, 4 books total. International.)
Mainly, though, we just plan to eat ice cream and torment all others on Twitter who don’t have any in the house. Sound like fun? Brawhahaha!
Come join the fun!
RwA PaRtY TiMe- YEHAW! Cowboy Time
Rocky Mountain Angel
Six Pack Ranch, Book 4
Sometimes even Angels must learn to fly…
Allison Parker needs a convincing excuse to come home to Rocky Mountain House. A hopelessly romantic reason that won’t let her mother suspect the truth—that Allison has discovered Mom is keeping a terrible secret from the family.
Gabe Coleman is struggling with two of the roughest parts of ranching: dealing with his bull-headed mule of a father, and making enough to pay the bills. When his old friend Allison offers to help him develop his ideas for organic ranching—in trade for pretending to be her fiancé—it sounds like the perfect set-up.
Yet the deception leads them in an unexpected direction, where their shared daily hells are erased by nights of heavenly distraction. It’s not supposed to be real, but once the gates are opened, there’s no denying they’ve found in each other a little bit of Paradise.
To break free of the past and face the future, though, will take more than temporary pleasures. It’ll take putting their hearts on the line.
Warning: Tortured hero with a guardian-angel complex, grief-stricken heroine willing to sacrifice everything for family. Break out the tissues, this trip to the ranch is a heartbreaker on the way to the HEA.
~~  Amazon ~~
Yes, Book 4 is up for preorder at Amazon (hopefully B&N soon). Today’s winner will get a PRINT ARC of ROCKY MOUNTAIN HEAT. Signed by me– I’ll save you one from the Samhain signing taking place today. The print book isn’t out until October, so you’re getting a treat! ;)
To be entered to win– tell me what part of ranching you’d MOST like to experience. Or if you’re a country gal– what’s your favourite chore?
