Hark, a Vagrant: Gorey Covers Part 3

I do love grandpas telling inappropriate stories. And Edward Gorey book covers.
A certain talented lady has been very busy and soon, soon, ponies. Which probably calls for more comics with the fat little guy.
For those of you going to Emerald City in Seattle this weekend, you can find me with the Topatoco crew.

Hark, a Vagrant: Nero and Agrippina

There are some funny things, in the Life Of Nero. Pretty well all accounts of how Nero went about murdering his mother are hilarious in their own right - collapsible boat, anyone? - and the notion that he thought her ghost was after him is also good (as you can see by the comic). Nero's neck beard is perhaps imperial action on a weak chin in the same way George IV's high collars were an action on double chins.

Hark, a Vagrant: Canadian stereotype fun

Alright so I abandoned the comic I was making yesterday when I watched the closing ceremonies to the Olympics. Did you see that? The giant beavers, hockey players, moose, mounties? The dancing leaf babes? The voyageurs and the lumberjacks? It was unbelievable. And so here in remembrance of that display are some Canadian stereotypes to enjoy.
Why they didn't get Rush over Nickelback, we'll never know.
You...

Hark, a Vagrant: sketch comics

Update is late! Don't I know it. It's been a busy week, I finished the residency and moved back to Halifax. I am working on a comic, it should be up later today (Monday!). But in the meantime, so as not to leave you totally hanging for too long, here are some mini comics and drawings that I made!
They are on my twitter picture account, I like to make sketches for that. A few of them were done while...

Hark, a Vagrant: batch of comics four

Another bunch of little comics! I am enjoying making these. My sister was writing them with me again, it's a good time.
Did you see that I posted a list of the conventions I will be attending though the spring and summer? Hopefully I will see you at one of them.
Tomorrow I am leaving Sackville and my residency here at Struts Gallery, thank you to everyone who was a part of it and came by! I had a great...

Hark, a Vagrant: Gorey Covers Part 2

A Book By its Gorey Cover, Pt 2
Part one was so much fun, who could resist more?
Other news: You remember this comic? Check out what Aaron Kaplan has made!
Oh hey, here is something you will enjoy. This new comic by Mark Siegel. It has sailors and mermaids and great art and storytelling, what is not to like?

Hark, a Vagrant: St. Francis and the Birds

A long time ago I made a comic with St Francis of Assisi in it, but I was reading about him again recently so here he is, again. Being raised under my mother's dutiful Catholic watch, I had several childrens' books of All Star Saints and had a list of faves, in which Francis always figured because he was usually depicted with a load of animals. Especially birds. Birds, Birds, Birds. And sometimes some other...

Hark, a Vagrant: Susan B. Anthony for Kids

I thought I would put this one up here. I made some little comics seeing what it would be like to draw comics for kids.
I think it would be a lot of fun! Just telling how exciting and brave and tough, or mean and nasty people were in history.
You can find another one here! It is Maurice "the Rocket" Richard.
Maybe I will do some of these for real sometime, if people like them! Regular comic updates...

Hark, a Vagrant: batch of comics three

Little comics! My sister had a hand in a couple of these too, she is a bonnie lassie.
I did a drawing for this auction, The Sweetest Little Thing. There are lots of great items to bid on! You can find my work here. It's Oscar and Bosie, but not fatty old Oscar as young and dashing Oscar is much more fun. Happy Valentines (auction)!
You guys should check out some sounds by the good folks and bands at
