SSS: I Put a Spell on You

I have to apologise! Last week I signed up and COMPLETELY forgot to post! I tell you, I'd forget my head at times if it wasn't attached :S So, this week I have post-it's ALL OVER the place to make sure I post this. Without further ado then…this is from I Put a Spell on You, the sequel to Thrill of the Night.

"I presume you're Mr. Brown?"

His gaze shifted.

"Maybe I am, maybe I ain't."

I sighed and plunked my Sig on the table, finger curled around the trigger. Normally it's considered bad form to bring a gun to a magic fight, but with Jasen's condition progressing so rapidly, I was kind of short on time.

"Let me ask that again. Are you Mr. Brown?"

Five Delightful Divas for Taming the Wildcat!

Today I have the warm and fuzzies all over again. Maggie B from Dark Diva Reviews has given Taming the Wildcat five divas!!

(Yeah, I know I've used this one before. But it's so cute!)

So, Wildcat! Maggie B over at Dark Diva Reviews says…

Mina Carter and Bethany Barnes have written a delightful erotic romance that could have taken place anywhere, but the fact that Taming the Wildcat happens in outer space makes it a thrill ride… The sex is oh, so hot and there is a lot of it in this book… I enjoyed Taming the Wildcat by Mina Carter & Bethany J. Barnes and recommend it to anyone who enjoys sci-fi, erotic romance, humor, a strong woman who is able to stand up for herself, alpha males, and dangerous situations.

Available Now: Lyon's Price!

Squeee! The second book in what is fast becoming known in my head as the Cyborg Saga is now available from Ellora's Cave!! So, yeah, I'm a happy bunny today. If you fancy having a look see what all the fuss is about, here's a few details…

[image error]Lyon's Price by Mina Carter Captured by the enemy, the last thing he expected was to find love…Once a Colonel with the Fleet, Lyon is now a rebel, a wanted man with a price on his head. Worse, he's a Leo-class military grade cyborg. Which means the price on his head is dead, or alive. Captured by fleet marines he's on his way to a medical facility for dissection so the scientists can work out how he and his kind have bypassed all the security protocols the Fleet built into them, and managed to rebel. He expects nothing but pain, and degradation from his captors and, for the most part, that's what he gets.

He doesn't expect nurse Samara Williams, a woman who was brought up not to judge a book by its cover and to see people for their worth, not what a Fleet PR campaign tells her she ought to see. Disgusted by the treatment Lyon is receiving, she is determined to take care of his injuries and make his stay on the ship as comfortable as possible.

But Samara is a nurse, not a trained commando used to dealing with cyborgs. When she neglects to ensure his cuffs are locked tight, all hell breaks loose. A hot, sensual sort of hell she'd trade her soul for…

SSS: Lyon's Price

This week's six comes from my upcoming Ellora's Cave release, Lyon's Price. (available 27th July over at the EC site, if anyone's interested ;) )

She tied me to the fucking floor!

The sound of Archon's furious voice in his head announced the fact his internal communications relay had rebooted.

That's because she couldn't move your fat ass, airhead.

Cael's feminine tones joined Archon's griping and eased some of Lyon's worry. At least those two were okay, even if he was going to have to lock them in a confined space together for a couple of days sometime soon. They'd either kill each other or screw each other's brains out.

SSS: I Put a Spell on You

So… I've been away for a while from SSS. Mainly completely big-ass paranormal romance epic (okay,  novel) but I'm back with an excerpt from my current scribblings. This is from I Put a Spell on You, the sequel to Thrill of the Night.

Some women owned handcuffs specially for sex. Unless they were seriously into an alternative lifestyle, those cuffs tended to be of the pink, fluffy kind. Mine were police-spec steel. They hadn't been bought with sex in mind, or anything other than as part of a costume. The sort of creature I hunted I didn't get close enough to slap a pair of cuffs on, not if I could help it. Most would happily try to dis-embowel me at that range.

Guest blog today: Sara Reinke

Good Morning! Today is a good day :) not only is it sunday but it's the beginning of the Summer holidays! With a five year old in the house, you can imagine what chaos is about to ensue.

Anyway, today I have a guest. I'm pleased to welcome Sara Reinke, talking about creating the perfect he[image error]ro…

***

I love to create the perfect hero. My inspiration comes from all sorts of places. In some instances, my hero comes from an actor I've seen, someone whose face or personality — or both — I find attractive or appealing. For example, I have a long-standing and admittedly pathetic school girl crush on Orlando Bloom, and in my stories, I've created several characters in the past who, to me, bear a physical resemblance to him. In my upcoming new release, the paranormal romance, Forsaken, Book One in The Netherworlde Series, the hero, Jason Sullivan, "looks" like Orlando to me. I feel like he has a certain kind of stoic strength, but an emotional vulnerability, he expresses well in his face and eyes, the same key attributes I envisioned for Jason.

Mos[image error]t of the time, I don't write alpha heroes. I know some readers really love them, but for me, I like characters — and heroes in particular — who go through an intense character arc, and whose vulnerabilities (and their eventual ability to overcome them) that makes them more believable and sexy. I prefer men who have emotional baggage they have to learn to deal with during the course of my story; heroes who aren't always kick ass and strong, but who learn how to be, how to conquer their respective personal demons (both internal and external). Real strength comes from facing your fears and weaknesses and finding ways to persevere and thrive in spite of them.

In Forsaken, Jason Sullivan has everything he could have wanted in life — his own business, the perfect girlfriend and the perfect opportunity to ask her to marry him. Then, in one violent, unexpected moment, he loses it all. Murdered in cold blood, wrongly condemned and enslaved to a sadistic demon, Jason must fight to reclaim not only the life and love he'd once known, but also his soul.

You'll find more information about Forsaken — including excerpts, the promotional video and links to a mini-site for The Netherworlde Series — on my website: www.sarareinke.com.

As a special prize for blog readers today, I'm giving you the chance to win an electronic copy of Forsaken before you can buy it! It hits the eBook market next week, but if you leave a comment today, you'll be entered for your chance to win a complimentary advance copy. Just tell me what you like in your romance novel heroes, especially paranormal romance. What makes him sexy, believably, irresistable to YOU?
