General Update

If all goes to plan, this is the schedule for postings on my Patreon site and on my website behind the Patreon wall.

A new draft chapter from “A Wounded Heart” for four Saturdays in a row followed by a draft Chapter from “The Big Ten Ohhh!” on the next Saturday then four more from AWHChapters from “Kissed by a Rose” every Tuesday & Thursday

That means that by December 11th, I’ll have posted up to chapter 26 of Kissed by a Rose, up to draft chapter 12 of “A ...

The Cheek of it…

A couple of weeks ago I got followed on Twitter by a book review site. And as often happens, when I followed them back, I got an almost immediate DM from their bot.

They asked if I’d be interested in having my books reviewed by their “network of 45,000 readers”.

“Sure,” I said. “Sounds good.”

The following day I saw a spike in hits to my website. It happened to be the day that the first draft chapter of “A Wounded Heart” to my Patreon and behind the Patreon wall on my website, so I...

A National Insurance Rise is the Worst Way to Pay for Social Care – Just Raise Income Tax instead

Social Care in the (Dis)United Kingdom is in crisis and has been for a very long time. It is criminally underfunded and many providers are inadequate to the point of negligence.

This is not a matter of opinion. Successive governments have admitted this for decades, but we are still waiting for a government, any government, to do something about it.

Theresa May put proposals in her 2017 manifesto but they were rejected to the point of probably costing her the slim majority she went into...

Discord

To go alongside the new Patreon, I had no idea what Discord was until I set up the Patreon, but my son is 15 and uses it and seemed very surprised when I told him I had an account. He then refused to give me the link to the chat rooms he uses for some reason. I can’t think why.

Anyway, the server link is https://discord.gg/Hu3kyvVT

I’ve already created a channel for the discussion of the WIP Chapters I’ll be posting to Patreon and I’m in the process (which mean...

Westmouthshire Universe Patreon Launched

The Westmouthshire Universe grew out of the first novel I had published by Phaze back in 2008, Kissed by a Rose. I had intended to set this novel in the same town I went to university in, Aberystwyth, but I quickly realised that my recollection of the town’s features was not only hazy, but also very much out of date. Not only that, but Aber wasn’t really a big enough town for the story I wanted to tell.

So, instead, I created Westmouth. And with my second nove...

Movie Review – The Tomorrow War

The Tomorrow War was released on Amazon Prime Video as an Amazon Original at the start of July and I only sat down to watch it this past weekend. It was originally going to be released in cinemas by Paramount, but the pandemic led to Amazon snapping up the rights. There’s an interesting post there somewhere in looking at how the release of new movies has changed over the past couple of years and if it’s going to continue once we are finally out the other side of the horrible period in our ...

Lost & Found Re-issued

Earlier this week, I completed my review and reformat of the final of my Phaze publications, Lost & Found, the publishing rights of which reverted back to me after Phaze closed.

The book went live on Amazon on Thursday and so is now available to purchase or to read as part of your KU subscription.

Lost & Found tells the story of Chris Austins, who travels across the Atlantic to comfort his ‘cyber-lover’, Beth, following the loss of her baby brother in Iraq.

The story was originally wri...

“Eternally & Evermore” Republished Today

Originally published by Phaze Books back in 2011, I’m today re-issuing Eternally & Evermore. Phaze closed down last year (without telling its authors—but that’s a different story) and so the publishing rights for the books I had with reverted to me.

It’s taken longer than I would have hoped, but Eternally & Evermore is the second of these books to once again become available.

It’s the story of Will Brown and Amy Robinson, who are teenage sweethearts at the start of the book. But li...

Site Updates

It’s been a tough few months for me since my last post at the start of March. The end of March is, of course, the end of the financial year for a lot of companies in the UK—mine included—and thanks to the announcement that the Stamp Duty holiday was going to be extended didn’t come until very late on in the month, it was very, very busy in the housing market.

That meant that I wasn’t able to promote the release of The Truths We Live as well as I would have liked. No matter, the book is now ou...
