Book Preview ~ The House that Love Built
The House that Love Built by Beth Wiseman
The House that Love Built by Beth WisemanBrooke has only loved one man, her late husband. Owen’s rebuilding after a painful divorce. Can a mysterious house bring them together for a second chance at love?
In the charming town of Smithville, Texas, Brooke Holloway is raising two young children on her own, supporting them by running the family hardware store. The last thing on her mind is falling in love. But she’s intrigued when a stranger moves to town and buys the old Hadley mansion. She’s always heard that house holds a secret—maybe even a treasure—and she can’t wait to see inside. When she meets the new owner and they spend time together, she can’t deny the attraction. Could God be giving her another chance at happiness? Or is she betraying her late husband’s memory by even thinking that way?
Owen Saunders bought the Hadley place to spite his cheating ex-wife. She’d always wanted to restore an old house in Smithville. Now he’s going to do it without her. But if anything needs restoration, it is Owen’s heart. Then he meets Brooke and her kids and finds himself tempted by love. Can he bring himself to trust a woman again?
Throw an eccentric uncle into the mix, along with the town’s teenage troublemaker, and even a finicky cat—and one thing becomes clear: God is bringing them all together for a reason. Buy Beth's book HERE.
Beth Wiseman is an award-winning and best-selling author who is best known for
her Amish novels, but she is now spreading her wings in other genres as well. Her two latest releases—Need You Now and The House that Love Built—are non-Amish contemporaries set in small Texas towns, both of which have garnished glowing reviews. However, her current project will take readers far away from Amish Country and small Texas towns to a dangerous place on the other side of the world. Inspired by a true story, Beth believes this is the book she’s been working toward for a long time. More information on this exciting project will be coming soon! Beloved, by Robin Lee Hatcher
Zondervan -September 2013
Diana Brennan came west on the orphan train and was given a home with a loving couple who cherished and spoiled her. At 17, she fell hard for Tyson Applegate, the son of a wealthy mine owner. After a whirlwind courtship and marriage, Tyson took off for adventures around the world, including fighting with the Rough Riders in Cuba. Receiving no word of him for seven years, Diana's infatuation with her dashing husband died an ugly death, and she is ready to move past the old pain and marry again, just as soon as Tyson is declared legally dead.
But when her husband returns, supposedly a changed man, he wants to reunite with his wife and run for the senate. While Diana suspects the election is his real reason for wanting her by his side, she agrees to maintain his home and to campaign with him, but when it is over, win or lose, she wants her freedom. Kansas State Fair

Earlier this month, our daughters had a chance to perform twice at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. It was a really hot opening weekend (102 degrees) but we managed to stay cool in-between sets.

Their first performance was at Gottschalk Gazebo at 2:30 in the afternoon. We were thrilled to see that a tent had been set up for the audience for shade, so we helped pull some benches inside.

The next performance was at 5:00 PM at Lake Talbot Stage. This setting turned out to be much cooler with the shade trees and air blowing in off the lake. It was also fun to watch the brave souls in the background gliding over the lake on the zip line.

The girls even had a few youngsters dancing to their "sad" songs.

Each set was an hour-long, so the girls had a nice opportunity to share their new songs as well as some old favorites.
Their next performance will be Galesburg Days on Saturday, September 21 during the city-wide barbecue dinner. If you live in the area, be sure to join us!

Book Preview ~ The Shadow on the Quilt

The Shadow on the Quilt by Stephanie Grace Whitson
Juliana Sutton's life looks perfect—from the outside. Until her husband's untimely death reveals a devastating truth. . . .
Cass Gregory is carrying his own dark secrets and feels unworthy to offer comfort to a woman of Juliana's standing. When circumstances force them together, both Juliana and Cass are wounded and afraid to trust.
Will the shadow of her dead husband's name stand between Juliana and Cass, or will Juliana choose a love she never thought possible? Buy the book HERE.
Stephanie Grace Whitson writes historical fiction ... and
rides a motorcycle. She has  ade a career out of playing with imaginary friends, and it all started in an abandoned pioneer cemetery. This one's graves are scattered on a tiny corner of land near where the Whitson family lived in the 1990's--mostly providing comic relief for the real country folk in the area. That cemetery provided not only a hands-on history lesson for Stephanie's home schooled children but also a topic of personal study as she began to read about and be encouraged by the pioneer women who settled the American West. Since writing had always been a favorite hobby, it was only natural for Stephanie to begin jotting down scenes in the life of a nameless woman crossing Nebraska on the Oregon Trail. Eventually that story took on a life of its own and Stephanie sent off a query letter--expecting instant rejection.

He blessed Stephanie's beginnings, putting two of her three first books on the ECPA best-seller list and making two of her first nine books finalists for the Christy Award. With the spring 2012 release of The Key on the Quilt (Barbour Publishing), she will have over twenty novels and two non-fiction books to her credit. Along with antique quilts and pioneer women's history, French, Italian, and Hawaiian language and culture remain passionate interests. In May of 2012, she earned her Master of Arts degree in historical studies. Learn more about Stephanie HERE.
