Shades of Autumn

I've mentioned before that autumn is my favorite season. I love the varying shades of orange, red and yellow. Here are a few pictures taken before the leaves fall completely to the ground and the barrenness of winter takes over.

Book Preview ~ Gunpowder Tea

Gunpowder Tea by Margaret Brownley

In a case that could change her career, Miranda uncovers a love that will change her life.

When Miranda Hunt sees the classified ad for an heiress to the legendary Last Chance Ranch, she knows assuming the identity of Annie Beckman is the perfect cover. As one of the finest agents for the Pinkerton Detective Agency, Miranda has been tasked with apprehending the Phantom - an elusive and notorious train robber thought to be hiding on the sprawling ranch.

But she isn't the only one there with something to hide. Wells Fargo detective Jeremy Taggert is working the scene undercover as well. And although their true identities are a secret, it is impossible for Jeremy and Miranda to hide the spark that flares between them.

But neither is about to let romance interfere with such a huge case. Besides, Miranda hasn't removed Jeremy from her list of suspects yet. The closer they come to uncovering the identity of the Phantom, the more dangerous he gets - and no one on the ranch is safe.

But neither are their hearts - the longer Miranda and Jeremy spend working together, the harder it becomes to keep their feelings in check. Their careers - and their lives - depend on solving this case. Love will have to wait. Buy the book HERE.

About Margaret: Thrills, mystery, suspense, romance: Margaret penned it all. Nothing wrong with this, except Margaret happened to be writing for the church newsletter. After making the church picnic read like a Grisham novel, her former pastor took her aside and said, "Maybe God's calling you to write fiction."

It turns out God was and Margaret did. She now has more than 20 novels to her credit. In addition, she's written many Christian articles and a non-fiction book. Still, it took a lot of prodding from God before Margaret tried her hand at writing inspirational fiction which led to her Rocky Creek series. "I love writing about characters at different stages of faith," she says of the new direction her writing career has taken, "and I'm here to stay."

Happily married to her real-life hero, Margaret and her husband live in Southern California. Learn more about Margaret and her writing HERE.

Luther's First Birthday

Our little boy turned one this past week!
We don't know exactly what day he was born, but we have a rough idea. Since we named him Luther, we decided to celebrate his birthday on Reformation Day. Cool huh?
We even gave him a birthday party, complete with party hats, cake sprinkled with bacon treats, and a ham bone for a gift. What a lucky fellow.
Happy Birthday, Luther!

Visiting Emma

This past weekend, we visited our oldest daughter and her family when we traveled to Kansas City for a Vogts Sister performance at Homer's Coffee House. And that means, I saw my little granddaughter, now SEVEN months old!

She now has three teeth, with three more trying to come through. She ate sweet potatoes and blueberries while we were there.

She's rolling all over the floor to get where she wants to go. Not yet crawling...

My mom and dad joined us for the visit and concert. Great-grandma is enjoying her time with Emma

This was Emma's first time to see her aunts perform. Their youngest fan!
Last week, we celebrated my dad's 72nd Birthday! He's now retired and enjoying his time off.

Book Preview ~ Millie's Treasure

Millie's Treasure by Kathleen Y'Barbo

From bestselling author Kathleen Y’Barbo comes Millie’s Treasure, the second book in The Secret Lives of Will Tucker series, a new set of novels involving romance, adventure, and hidden identity. Memphis 1890—Bookish heiress Millie Jean Cope is as clever as she is beautiful. Unfortunately, though adept at solving puzzles and cryptograms, she doesn’t realize her new fiancé isn’t who he claims to be, but instead is a charming scoundrel.

The infamous Will Tucker is presenting himself as a British gentleman, Sir William Trueck, though in reality he is a crafty criminal looking for a hidden map to a secret treasure. Pinkerton agent Kyle Russell has been on Tucker’s trail for years. At last Kyle believes he has Tucker cornered, but he is uncertain whether the lovely woman on the con man’s arm is an unsuspecting victim or willing accomplice. Finding reasons to spend time with Millie is easy. Keeping himself from falling in love with her is another issue entirely. A fun and entertaining story of how God can shine the light of truth on the most cryptic circumstances. Buy the book HERE.

Kathleen Y'Barbo is the author of over 40 novels with more than 1 million copies in print in the United States and abroad. A former literary publicist, she was recently nominated for a Career Achievement Award by Romantic Times magazine. A tenth-generation Texan, Kathleen has four grown children, seven bonus children, and her very own hero in combat boots. Find out more about Kathleen at www.kathleenybarbo.com.
