More Colorado Pictures

Last month, we enjoyed a family vacation/music tour in the Rocky Mountain state of Colorado.
It was a thirteen day tour with 9 concerts--so not only did we delight in hearing a lot of our daughters' music--we also squeezed in some beautiful scenic sites.
The rivers and streams were flowing with fresh, cold mountain water--
and we drank it in,
especially when we'd heard that Kansas was enjoying 100 degree temperatures.
We didn't have a lot of free time, but we managed to squeeze in a couple of hikes.
My parents joined us on a couple of the hikes. Here catching their breath and sitting a spell. The trails were exhilarating
and most delightful when we reached our destination...

 The waterfalls were breathtaking.
North Clear Creek Falls near Creede, CO

The mountains were majestic and gorgeous.
And the wildflowers were beautiful
and abundant.
There was something really special...and haunting about the aspens as we passed by them.We had such fun in Colorado and look forward to returning next year!

The Vogts Sisters Colorado Music Tour

This last month, we had a grand time in the Rocky Mountainswhen our daughters, The Vogts Sisters, went on a Colorado Music Tour.
The girls before their performance at The Eureka Station in Silverton. It was almost like a tour of the Silver Circuit, visiting such places as:Colorado Springs, Silverton, Ouray, Alamosa, Creede, Gunneson, Crested Butte, and Almont.
One of our highlights from the tour - the girls performing at The Wright Opera House in Ouray.
Another highlight from our tour was at Alamosa for their Sundays @ Six Concert in Cole Park.
When the girls performed at Kip's Grill in Creede, I tried out my first Fish Tacos -- and LOVED them!
My folks joined us on the tour at a couple of places, which made the trip even more fun and memorable.
At Three Rivers Resort, we ran into a camping group from Girard, KS who joined us for one of the girls' performances. What a small world!
Here at the Broadmoor for their Recital Series at Pauline Chapel in Colorado Springs.
The girls' final performance in Garden City for a High Plains Public Radio Living Room Concert. The girls were invited back to several places, so we're hoping to schedule another Colorado tour next summer! I'll share more travel pictures from our time in the Rocky Mountains next week!

From This Moment, by Elizabeth Camden

Stella West's artistic talent made her the toast of London, but when her beloved sister dies under mysterious circumstances she abandons everything and heads for Boston. Upon meeting Romulus White, a publisher with connections into every important power circle in the city, she quickly realizes he could be a valuable ally in navigating Boston society.

Romulus has been pursuing Stella for years to create art for his magazine. Her luminous illustrations are the missing piece he needs to propel his magazine to the forefront of the industry, and he will stop at nothing to get her on board.

Sparks fly the instant they join forces, but Romulus is unsettled by the unwelcome attraction he feels toward Stella, fearing she might be the one woman who could disrupt his hard-won independence. He may have finally met his match in Stella, but is helping her solve the mystery of her sister's death worth the risk to his publishing empire? Buy the book HERE.

My Hen and Rooster Collections

I've always wanted to raise chickens so we could have fresh eggs, but my hubby won't let me, insisting that our Labrador dog or neighborhood coyotes would kill them.
So, instead, I collect ceramic ROOSTERS and hens.I'm not sure what it is about them, but I LOVE them. Do you have something you collect in your kitchen? Share with us below!

Book Preview ~ Messenger by Moonlight

Messenger by Moonlight, by Stephanie Grace Whitson

Orphaned Annie Paxton and her brothers may have lost the only home they've ever known, but they're determined to make a better future in St. Joseph, Missouri. Annie dreams of a pretty house with window boxes, and having friends, and attending church every week. But then her brothers spot the ad for a new venture called the Pony Express. "Wanted," it reads, "Young, skinny fellows not over eighteen. Must be expert riders and willing to risk death daily. Orphans preferred." Sure enough, both her brothers land jobs as Express messengers, and Annie puts her dreams on hold to work as a cook at Clearwater Ranch, a station along the Pony Express route.

Annie struggles to adapt to her new job--work made all the more challenging when she has so many to feed and few ingredients. The gruff station owner, George, doesn't seem inclined to make her life any easier, or at least not at first. But slowly a friendship builds between them. When Annie attracts the attention of a refined, dashing lieutenant from the nearby fort, she'll have to learn how to trust her instincts and follow her heart, even if she's conflicted about which way it's leading her. Purchase the book HERE.
