Take A Break and Go to the Beach by Susan Hanniford Crowley

Between working on an online course and going through my proof book for my next novel coming out soon, I reached a point of exhaustion. My oldest daughter and I are seashell collectors. So to get out in the sunshine even though it was on the cold side, my husband, daughter, and I went off to Harkness Memorial State Park. Part of their beach is sandy and part rocky.

There is no swimming there at the moment, but that didn’t prevent people from walking the beach and the beautiful grounds and gardens. There are lots of seashells. We found mussel, clam, slipper, and tiny conch shells. The birdwatching was fun too.

Sometimes you have to take a break, breathe, and take in the world around you. The off-season is a great time to go to the beach.  (I wore my winter coat.) Smiles!

All the best,
-Susan

The Tranquility Paranormal-Scope

Photo by dorota dylka on Unsplash

As we come into Spring, we want to do everything. Remember to breathe!

While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.

Aries:
Dragons make thunder when they roll around on their backs. They don’t know how it is affecting others. Speak gently with others this week.

Taurus:
Shapeshifters want to share the fun in exercise. before starting any new exercise check with your physician.

Gemini:
Mermaids loves the fragrance of flowers and will swim closer to shore to enjoy it. Someone close to you could use a bouquet to cheer them up.

Cancer:
Pixies love to play with little dogs. They both chase balls. A new friend is coming your way.

Leo:
Vampires enjoy the rainy days best. No need for sunblock. Take care of your skin when you go out.

Virgo:
Gnomes like adding the little touches that make a home a home like a rug or throw pillow. Time to spruce up your place.

Libra:
Zombies are on the move again, off to see new places. A day trip to a park may be just the ticket to revive the ‘I’m alive’ feeling.

Scorpio:
Goblins love counting money but really most anything. Take an inventory of what you have and what you can give away.

Sagittarius:
Elves are dusting off their tomes and reading. They’re even reading ebooks. Reading is a great way to relax and relieve stress.

Capricorn:
Faeries love planting. Adding some house plants will mellow your house more and bring nature to you.

Aquarius:
The Kraken snores and that’s what makes the great surfing in Hawaii. Visiting a beach to stroll and listen to the surf can make your troubles melt for a while.

Pisces:
Werewolves can never keep something buried. They dig it up. That’s not always wise. Somethings are best let go. Let it go.

All the best,

The Oscars and One Song – Husavik! by Susan Hanniford Crowley

The song, ‘Husavik’ has been nominated for an Oscar!

One place that I visited which made a lasting impression on me was Iceland! I hope to return someday again.

“Eurovision Song Contest-The Story of Fire Saga” is funny. The scenery is breathtaking. There were parts that warmed my heart since I knew some things about Iceland that you will discover in the film.

One thing that makes it stand out from so many films is the song “Husavik.” It’s moving. It has moved enough nominators that it has been nominated for Best Original Song. So I will be watching The Oscars starting at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, on Sunday, April 25th. To be honest, I usually don’t, but this year is different all because of one song that spoke to my heart.

If you want to check it out, here is the link: https://youtu.be/qjuphuG3ndw

Fearless

It is Spring and yet it feels as if we are flying towards summer and all it brings. Part of it could be the tiredness of the cold winter season and/or perhaps we are just eager to leave the past year plus in the dust. If I were a better person I’d guess the latter given our lives during this time.

My kids are especially eager for the summer. So much so that they fearlessly plunged into a neighbor’s. Now, they know how to swim and the pool is clean but the water is beyond frigid at this point. And while they admitted it was cold it was said with such nonchalance that a part of me envied their fearless sense of adventure. When did d I become such a wimp?!

I don’t have the answer to this question. I just know it to be true for me and I would hedge to say many adults out there. Oh sure we’ll call it being cautious and considerate and sometimes it is but many times we are just plain old afraid! Well, we need to get over it and that is just what I aim to do!

Happy writing this week!

Frozen Wonders Melt Paranormal-Scope

Photo Courtesy by Jonatan Pie on UnsplashGoing for a northern lights hunt, but ending up making shots of the famous Skogafoss. Night was freezing cold, below -6 degrees, all in ice, and the spraying water from the waterfall has made ice on the camera lens. But, this still came out. The lens is f4 and the nightsky was superdark, so brightness had to be, despite illumination, put up quite a lot,..also denosing, since iso was over moderately high.

What was frozen is warming up and melting!

While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.

Aries:
Vampires are stretching with the delicious cool winds of the night that are fragrant with spring. It’s time to bring some flowers home.

Taurus:
Werewolves dig beneath the snow for the first green grass to chew. Time to re-evaluate your meal plans.

Gemini:
Shapeshifters shake off the snow and leap into the warm spring. Time to finish old projects and start new ones.

Cancer:
Mermaids swim past the ice toward warmer water. Enjoy the sunshine when you have it. Lighten your heart with the new beginnings of spring.

Leo:
Aslan awakens to walk the world again. Courage can be a lion or it can be you.

Virgo:
The Kraken sleeps deep in the ocean unconcerned with the troubles of mankind.

Libra:
Pixies are crazy busy. They dislike the drip-drip-drip of melting snow and rush toward the warmth. Smile. People tend to do the same thing.

Scorpio:
Gnomes brush off the snow from their roofs and clear their gardens in preparation of tender buds to grow. Consider growing a garden even if it’s a garden in pots.

Sagittarius:
Goblins get sleepy in the gold and limit their time counting gold. Spring invigorates their accounting ability. Review your budget. Plan for expenses.

Capricorn:
Zombies wander toward the warm. Enjoy the weather. Take walks if you can. Open your windows and let the new air in.

Aquarius:
Faeries collected the melting drops to water the tiny plants. It’s a time of celebration. New things are coming your way.

Pisces:
Elves carry the wisdom of the ages. The winter filled them with knowledge. Now is the time to put it to use. An opportunity will come your way that you’ll love.

Light at the End of the Tunnel by Susan Hanniford Crowley

Cover of Lady Fallon's Dragons Cover by Cindy Samul

I was dreaming about that phrase all night – a light at the end of the tunnel. It has so many meanings at the moment.

As I was setting up for this blog, I also came across an online article https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/dr-fauci-just-issued-big-163603561.html where Dr. Fauci tells us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel but we must remain cautious with loosening restrictions. I am paraphrasing here. That’s why I am putting the link, so you can read it for yourself.

The light at the tunnel is a phrase meaning hope. I am hopeful but taking Dr. Fauci’s words of caution to heart. I will remain wearing a mask, keep on social distancing, eat take-out food, eat at outside tables when it’s warm, and wait to have my hair done. My health wasn’t that good before I got the vaccines, and I am still struggling.  (I had no problem with the vaccines.)

With “60,000 new infections added daily,” I want to stay out of Covid’s way!  (That numerical amount comes from the article.)

Let’s change topics. Sort of.

Why is the new cover at the top? Because we’re getting close. At this moment, I am awaiting printed proof copies. Some publishers call them galleys. This is the part where you read the book like a reader but also an editor and put sticky notes on the pages where there are errors. We are getting very close.

I am also looking for anyone who would like to be in my Book Launch Team! If you would, please, email me at susan.hanniford.crowley.author@gmail.com  and put BLT in the subject line.

If you haven’t so far, you might like to visit the Blog of Joanne Guidonccio https://joanneguidoccio.com/blog/  I shared 10 Interesting Facts about The Vampire with a Blanket of Stars. It’s fun!

Soon, I will announce the release of my dragon book, Lady Fallon’s Dragons. A wondrous tale of contemporary dragons and a young woman fighting for her life. It is a dragon fantasy with a sweet romance in it. Sweet romance means no sex! It is very dragony and at times so very romantic! I wrote it for ages 12 – 107! Smiles. It also marks the beginning of a new series.

An interesting note: Vampire King of New York in print is now available at the Walmart Online Bookstore.

See there are lights at the end of many tunnels!

For The Love Of…Mingling by Artemis Crow

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is marble-crow-logo.jpg

I miss mingling. There was a time that my ability to mingle for long periods of time was rare. I was the hit and run mingler. “Hi, how are you? How about that weather?” Oh, lord, I’m exhausted, must go.

It’s not that I don’t love talking with people, sharing funny stories and laughing. I guess I’m what you would call an extroverted introvert. I can spend hours, even days alone and not be fazed. No phone calls? Awesome! More time to write!

Signs you too may be an extroverted introvert?

There’s a great article at: https://introvertdear.com/news/extroverted-introvert-signs/

Here’s the basic gist:

Your energy level and the environment you’re in are tied together. Rock concert, yay or nay. Acoustic set, soothe or snooze.People can be intriguing and energizing, or exhausting. Socializing is best done in sips.Kind of the same as above: people are energizing or exhausting. Stay and enjoy or run for your life.Charming and in-your-head. You are both and a lot of people don’t get that about you. When rested and recharged, you are the belle or beau of the ball. But once the energy has been leached from your very bones until you look like the mummy, you’re done.Socializing is like exercise; you gotta warm up. You start in granny gear and everyone thinks you’re so quiet and nice. But, howdy, once you’re warmed up and comfortable, it’s on.Small talk, gah! Deep talk, let’s dive! You haven’t the energy to maintain a large social network; a small circle of close relationships is for you.You don’t “work the room” and you’re okay with that. You do love it, though, when you meet the like-minded.Your friends and family can’t fathom that you aren’t an extrovert because “social” is your middle name. What were your parents thinking with that one?

The pandemic has made me long for a chance to mingle. So I’m getting prepared by getting my Covid shots, riding the recumbent bike so I have the stamina to last more than 15 minutes in a group or one-on-one, working my arms and pecs so I can hug…everyone, and signing up for reader-author conferences—2 of them this year.

The first one:

Kitty Berry Books, LLC. is excited to announce the 2nd RomantiConn author event coming on July 24, 2021! It’s a fun-filled event where authors and readers share their love of fangirling, book-boyfriends, and all things related to books and romance. RomantiConn offers a day to get away from the stress and spend time with friends

The second event is:

Fall In Love New England Conference

October 15th and 16th

Boxborough, MA

https://www.fallinlovenewengland.com

Whatever your personality type, no matter how much you have to train, I hope that you too will be out there mingling! We all deserve it!

May your words flow freely,

Artemis

No One to Blame

I hear this all the time where people are burned out from work. We read articles about interns being overworked and we talk about the line between work and home life disappearing with the pandemic. I know I’ve written before about stress and time and doing what we can to effectively navigate both.

One thing I will address is a need for our individual decision making and our own management of work and home. We can’t realistically sit and blame all these corporations for working consistent 80 hour weeks— we let it happen and accepted the hand we were dealt.

We each need to decide how much we are willing to do and for how long. It is so easy sometimes to shirk ownership of pushing ourselves to do more and do “better” but it is a decision we make. As such we need to decide how to deal with the consequences or even determine whether the possible consequences are worth the effort expended.

So think about it. It is a big question and we need to weigh the outcomes ether way— life is short, what is it that you want to remember or be remembered for? For me, it sure isn’t determined by endless work and stress. There is more to life than this.

Happy writing this week!

Were Pets Paranormal-Scope

Yesterday was National Pets Day, so I thought we would honor Were Pets. They deserve it. They keep us interested and laughing.

While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.

Aries:
Werepuppies love balls to the point of obsession. Add play to your schedule.

Taurus:
Weregeckos tell jokes, but they pause when the head gecko is on TV. Watch funny shows preferably those with geckos or iguanas in them.

Gemini:
Werecats love to stare. Yep, that’s why they do. Don’t get caught up in it. It’s not the best use of time.

Cancer:
Were-eagles never get their nails done! Spend time on yours. If you see a were-eagle, run!

Leo:
Weresnakes like to do yoga. They are fun to watch. Try it yourself but always get your physicians okay when starting a new exercise regimen.

Virgo:
Werecockroaches are the immortals of the were-world. They don’t make good pets! If you see one, considering calling a were-exterminator.

Libra:
Were-hedgehogs like to sing a lot. Sing-a-long. It’s a bonding moment that can bring friends and families together.

Scorpio:
Were-bunnies enjoy veggies and hopping. Choose a fun activity and don’t forget lunch.

Sagittarius:
Were-German Shepherds are brave and true. Being a best friend goes both ways. Enjoy a friendship but appreciate that friend too.

Capricorn:
Were-bats turn into puppies. Things are not always what they seem to be! Be aware!

Aquarius:
Were-chicks cluck and step on other were-chicks. Try not to tread unintentionally on another’s toes. Ouch!

Pisces:
Were-squirrels are tossing out their old nuts to gather new nuts! Spring cleaning is always a benefit.
